J & CG Redmayne took the top prices at 2320 from J & PA Baldwin from James & Anne Rogerson and 2220 again from Baldwins. Peter Dakin was in the money with his first prize pedigree Ayrshire cow, which caught the eye of local breeder W Oldfield selling at There were plenty of nice working heifers at which after luck money are very competitive against imports. With milk prices under pressure and other larger markets taking a drop in price the next few weeks could be interesting-watch this space. The prize winning, 12 month old heifer sired by a Littlebank bull, bred by Richard Maudsley, Settle sold for an impressive 1200 to Kevin Marshall, Harrogate. This was a great achievement for beef and sheep farmer-mr Mellin who previously won the show at the opening sale of the new main sales ring at Gisburn Auction Marts ten years ago in 2004 and consequently has won the annual show another five times in the last ten years. A capacity ringside crowd, watched a strong entry of over 400 cattle forward with the reserve champion another British Blue heifer, this time 13 months old from Tom Robinson, Slaidburn, Clitheroe sell for 1210 Susan Lord, Littleborough. The show and sale was kindly sponsored by Bluefin Insurance Services Ltd, Skipton.
