Smart handy weight 39-42kgs still command a premium topping at 172p/kg for 39kg Texel s from Miss C E McArdle who sold at 164p/kg. M/s A T Ivory & Son sold to 165p/kg, M/s P Honour & Son 159p/kg and M/s Von Oppenheim 158p/kg. Barton Abbey sold at 155p/kg and Mike Dickens 153p/kg. These winter calvers sold to , twice, and In calf heifers from the same herd sold to and Philip Baldock sold Charolais bulling heifers 18 months to and Gordon Turner, Promised Land Farm took the top honour in the steers with his 3 homebred Limousin X 20 months at Sulham Estates sold Pure Simmental steers at followed by Ron and Sue Varney at , Oxenford Farms followed at and Ron and Sue also sold their Limousin X at and followed by M/s J Hanson & Son at C W Lear & Partners sold their Limousin X steers at and took for their Charolais X steer. The best young Aberdeen Angus X came from Butler Farms at Sulham Estates topped the heifer section at for a pure Simmental. Commercial sorts are around p/kg. Numbers are slightly less on the week due to a cancellation but still large numbers forward nationally, however there is no increase in demand due to mild weather and another 2/3 weeks before festive demand. Aberdeen Angus to 3.90p/kg, Shorthorns to 365p/kg and Herefords 355p/kg. Steers Some grand sorts placed on the week; Aberdeen Angus X Belgian Blue (U+3) at 1588 topped the section with another at 1551 (R4L). British Blue X; leading the continentals at 1572 (U+3), 1529 (-U4L) and 1516 (-U4L). Charolais X to 1505 (-U4L) and 1474 (R4L), Limousin X to 1485 (-U3). Other native breeds were led by a Shorthorn X at 1457 (R4L) and a South Devon Not so many dairy sorts placed, Holsteins selling to 1174 (-O4L) and 1156 (-O3). Heifers Some choice Limousins, ideal for the Best Butchers outlet topped at 1502 (U+3) with others at 1482 (E3), 1424 (U+3), 1410 (U+3) and 1405 (E3). Native breeds topped at 1306 (R4L) for Aberdeen Angus, South Devon X to 1288 (R4L), 1283 (O+4L) and 1272 (R4L). Shorthorn X to 1268 (R4H) and 1242 (R3). Young Bulls Not so many forward on the week, and the overall quality was not so good. A Limousin topping at 1554 (U+2), with a Charolais X at 1467 (U+2), British Blue X Holstein, 12.2 months, sold to 1210 (R3). Holsteins aged 13.2 months sold to 1049 (O+3). Dairy breeds were hard worked sorts. The top cow was a U+3 Limousin at 1321 with others to 1207 (U+4L) and 1198 (U+4L), O+3 Angus to An R4H Simmental came to Dairy cows to 726 for O2 with several P+ placed at depending on weight. Over 30 month clean cattle were topped by Angus steers at 1460 (R4L) and 1408 (R4H). Charolais to 1453 (R3) and Holsteins to 1134 (-O4L). Heifers to 1337 (O+4H), Aberdeen Angus and Limousins to 1042 (R4L). Over 36 month clean came to 1127 for U+ once calved Limousins.
