2 Wednesday 3 rd June Hoggs 21 Ewes 226 New Season Lambs SQQ Hoggs to & 171p/kg SQQ 174. Ewes to Spring Lambs The first real flow of springers this week sold to 6 buyers in the alley. Trade remains around the 175 to 180p/kg mark although several pens were on the heavy side. M/s Parsons sold their run of Charollais X to 187p/kg and 182p/kg twice. Chris Sabine followed with his Texel X at 184p/kg, while heavier Texel X from M/s Payne & Son sold at 182p/kg twice. Stoke Farms sold their standard weights at 180p/kg. Prime Hoggs Hoggetts are still in demand, heavyweights from Charlie Randall sold to 171p/kg for 32, James Gibson sold to 168p/kg, 167p/kg and M/s Curtis to 165p/kg. M/s Curtis topped the day with their run at 90, 89 and James Gibson sold at 87 and M/s Parsons at 85. Cull Ewes - 21 Suffolk x Ewes sold to 86 and 80. Welsh Mules sold to 73 while lean Continental x sold to 66. Selling to 1870, 1840, 1805, 1800, 1790, 1780 and 1770 to average Aberdeen Angus cows and calves sold to 1380 from Rycote Farm and Limousin X to 1290 from M/s Hazell. A pedigree Aberdeen Angus bull sold at M/s AG & J Williams sold their run of Aberdeen Angus X steers and heifers 20 months old to 1228 for steers and 1245 for heifers. Cedric Mees sold their Aberdeen Angus X steers to 1118 and 1035 at 17 months with Simmental X at 1095 from the same farm. Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at 992 from this consigner. Michael Ashby sold a run of Blonde and Beef Shorthorn heifers and steers to 1005 for Beef Shorthorn steers and Blonde X heifers at 982 all at 14 months. A total clearance was well achieve for this time of year. Steers A tremendous consignment of British Blue x and Limousin x 1597 (E s) x 4, 1588 (E) and 1578 (E) and the load of 16 averaged (A credit to the producer). Other consignments of note, Limousin E3 to 1496, British Blue x to 1449 and Charolais x to 1421 R3. Aberdeen Angus x s to 1417 (U+3), 1382 (O+4L) and 1376 (-U3). Hereford x 1287 (R4H). Heifers A few better sorts traded by no strength, a top price of 1300 achieved for Charolais (-U2). A very smart Limousin (U+4L) sold to Other Charolais x to 1264, 1255 and 1230 (all R4L). Young Bulls Under 16 month old bulls in short supply. An Aberdeen Angus x 1258 (-U3) with a Simmental x Over 16 months 1523 for a heavy weight Limousin (U+3).
