2 DAIRY (44) AUCTIONEER: JONNY DYMOND 44 Dairy Cattle Top 2050 (2) Fresh Heifers Bulling Heifers 800 Maiden Heifers 750 Baby Calves to 300 A much improved show of Dairy Cattle this week, with 3 fantastic heifers selling in excess of 2000, the first being the first offering from the dispersal of J B Heath & Son Hanbury s Organic Heifers, sold 2 weeks fresh giving 29kgs she went to Oakley Farming Ltd. At the same good price was a heifer giving 30Kg from A & J Whittaker of Weston Under Red Castle, first heifer closely followed at 2000 for their second which sold for British Friesian Heifers sold for 1500 & 1400 again for J B Heath & Son Ltd. The Youngstock Sale was very well supported with 34 entries this month, top prices achieved for 17 month old Bulling Heifers from A H Francis & Sons Holstein Friesian s was 800 on three occasions with a further 3 heifers at 780. Pedigree Heifers from P M & S D Bradbury s sold to a top of 750 for an 8 month old heifer Brookroad Susan 134 this heifer was backed by a VG Dam and EX grand dam which had yielded over 10000kg showing that pedigree can make a real difference to value!! Other 8 month old heifers sold to 650 for Brookroad Annette 48. Yearling British Friesian Heifers sold to 680 for a pair of Catlane Chad daughters from D & E Owen of Pontfadog who also had the outstanding trade for 5 Baby Heifer Calves averaging 25days old selling for 300 a piece. Their Heifer at 32mo returned or 158ppkg. A group of non tested, non farm assured Angus and Hereford Heifers from MP & JL Gregory would go on for further feeding fro ppkg. 3 BARREN COWS/OTM S (21) AUCTIONEER: JONNY DYMOND Top 131 or Ave 103 or A significant lift in trade demonstrated by averages 13p or 130 up on the week. In all 9 sucessful buyers looking for TB Tested cows to feed/ graze in the spring while conditions are good. If you have any to enter please let me know. A nice run of Blue Bulls from Bowdler Farms topped the market selling to 318, 295 and 292 with one from Messrs Griffiths just behind at 290. There were plenty more Blues up at above the 260 mark and all were well sold. A nice Lim from the Griffiths sold to 240 with another from Mr Lewis of Woodcote Farm making 190. Demand was definitely about for Angus s today with the best from the Griffiths making 258 and 240 with one from Hope Farming at similar money. Herefords were up to 120 from Messrs Whittaker. The Friesains were a good trade too Mr Mr Fitton making 98 of the best and others up and around the mark. Heifers also sold well with the best Blue from Mr Crowther making 298 and the next best from Mr Griffiths doing 280 and the next from the Bowdlers making 270. There were plenty more from with a Sim from Mr Crowther making 230. Natives sold well too with a Hereford from Mr Lewis making 190 and an Angus making 160 from the Griffiths. COULD ALL VENDORS PLEASE CHECK THAT THE SEX AND BREED OF THEIR CALVES IS CORRECT WHEN APPLYING FOR PASSPORTS. 4 PRIME HOGGETS (1620) AUCTIONEER: JAMES EVANS Overall Average: 195pp/kg A really good entry of Prime Hoggets on offer today sold to a total clearance of all lots realising an overall average of 195pp/kg. This trade was the same as last week and on par with yesterdays local market. Standard weights, 32½ - 39kgs averaged pp/kg and selling to 210pp/kg ( 72.50) for 34½kg Hoggets presented by C C & S M Edwards & Son, Freehold Farm. Top price of the day was 220pp/kg ( 89.20) for 40½kg Hoggets presented by Philip Dudleston, Upper Vessons Farm and a top price per head of (182pp/kg) for 61kg Hoggets presented by S P & C P Williams, Great Wollascott Farm. Some real quality Couples forward also selling to a high of 181 for young Suffolk Ewes with single Lambs, averaging 90.50/life. Doubles sold to 188 for a young Suffolk Ewe with twin Texel Lambs. Zwartble aged Ewes sold to 178 with twin Lambs with a good run of aged Mules with twin Lambs selling to 53/life.
