1 WESSEX CC SHOW. 17 th June Report by Mrs Dorothy A Stone. Grateful thanks to Elaine & Lisa for so kindly inviting me to judge at a proper wonderful Wessex only show again. It was quite like old times, despite the season & it was lovely to see familiar Wessex faces, though dear Marjorie Draper will be forever in my heart. The sparkles were for you, Marjorie!! Elaine & Lisa, you put on a marvellous show despite your personal tragedy & grief we salute you. Once again, I had my rock SIMONE ROPER by my side, who steered me through a busy day & handled the cats, especially the Maine Coons, like a professional, which I know was greatly appreciated by both myself & their owners. Simone, you re simply the best!! Thanks a million. REX/SPHYNX GRAND CLASS MALE ADULT. 1 present. 1 st Sorry, Grand CC Not Awarded DAVIES s Ch BOUNTIFUL BRAVE SIR ROBIN. Chocolate Smoke Devon Rex. 11 mths, 3 wks. Immature as yet - high cheek boned wedge set on an elegant muscular neck could be broader & shorter, whisker break is rather weak but he has lovely short stubbly whiskers & eyebrows. Profile shows rounding to brow, flat skull between ears & at forehead, stop to rather a long broad nose needs to be stronger, firm level chin & level bite. Wide based ears with rounded tips have tufts & muffs, are of good size but are set too high. Large yellow-chartreuse eyes are of required oval shape, spaced well apart & have a truly naughty Devon expression! Young chap with a slender muscular body of good size & weight has good breadth to his chest, stands tall on well-muscled legs, dainty oval paws, tail of good length & shape is a little thick & although well covered, the fur is rather straight. His coat is quite well rexed & covers him completely but there are areas of re-growth making the length uneven & whilst it is fine & soft, it lacks the required density today. Shown in good condition, this sweet soul needs time to mature & his head to broaden out at which point I d like to see him again. Sorry to disappoint, but he was just not ready for the high award today. REX/SPHYNX GRAND CLASS FEMALE ADULT. 1 present. Gd Ch HICKS s Ch MERLINI MYSTIC TOPAZ. SPH h months. Immature still hence a little fine in the muzzle good head set on an elegant muscular neck has prominent cheek bones with the desired rounded contours,

2 muzzle as mentioned is a little fine still, whisker breaks could be more distinct & whisker pads more prominent. Profile shows a flat forehead, a slight break at the nasal bridge, firm level chin & level bite. Large ears with a modicum of coverage on the backs & tips are well shaped & set. Large green eyes (the right was watering which detracted somewhat) are spaced well apart but rather round & have dark markings in the corners which mar the expression. Young queen of very good size, weight & conformation has an elegant muscular body with good breadth to her chest & a rounded abdomen, long elegant muscular legs, oval paws have finger-like toes with thick cushioned pads, proportionate tapering tail is covered in short stubble giving it an incorrect bristly feel. The feel of her body is suede-like with the desired resistance, her stomach felt a little sweaty & she has some thicker down on the bridge of her nose. A sweet soul in good physical condition & well prepared I debated long & hard about making the award but decided to be generous today. I d like to see her again when fully mature please. AOV FOREIGN PREMIER MALE NEUTER. 1 present. Grand WOODLEY s Pr SKAMPAWS STAROF OLAF. ASH m months. Gorgeous boy who I greatly admired as a kitten good to see how well he has done to date. Short wide blunt wedge, gently rounded dome of good width, well-shaped & sized ears that he was holding a little high when I saw him. Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, distinct break to short nose, super deep level chin & level bite. Large lustrous yellow-chartreuse eyes enhanced with lighter coloured spectacles are of desired shape, spaced well apart & have that unique smouldering predatory scowl! Adolescent chap looking just a little unbalanced still is of good size with a weighty, muscular body, elegant muscular legs, neat oval paws, rather thick tail of good shape & length has a teensy invisible irregularity at the tip. It was quite a warm day thus his slightly long coat was rather open & whilst it has a silky texture it is a little dense (LH carrier?); the ground colour is a lovely pale cool-toned beige whilst the distinct Classic pattern is etched in cool-toned brownish grey that has a distinct metallic sheen reminiscent of silvery snail/slug tracks, the butterfly across his shoulder blades & oysters on his sides being particularly clear & are virtually identical on both sides of his body, his facial markings are distinct, he has several broken necklaces & his tail is well banded with a dark tip in the same shade as the pattern. Shown in very good condition, he was feeling the heat thus happier in his pen today. It was lovely to see him thanks for showing him under me.

3 SIBERIAN NEUTER. 1 present for BoB only. BoB awarded to JAMES beautiful young lady Gd Pr ESAYA WYTCHYCAT. SIB n months. Super type to this stunning lady who has all the bone, substance & heft you could wish coupled with lovely broad, low cheek bones, a nicely domed forehead & excellent breadth of skull. Just to top it off, she still has her coat which is wonderfully dense & very well prepared thus she must have been in with a very loud shout for BOV. Congratulations on her Imperial award. DEVON REX ADULT. 1 present + 1 for BoB only. 1 st CC & BoB RANKIN s MAYSTAR EMPRESS-OF-INDIA. Female. DRX bs ½ months. Sweet pubescent lass with growing still to do but well worthy of her award today Short high cheek boned wedge set on an elegant muscular neck has good breadth across, muzzle is quite strong with well-defined whisker breaks, short stubbly whiskers & eyebrows. Profile shows rounding to brow, flat skull at forehead & between ears, acceptable stop, deep level chin & level bite. Lovely large wide based ears with rounded, tufted tips which when relaxed are quite low set. Large oval yellow-chartreuse eyes are spaced well apart & have that typically naughty Devon expression. Pubescent lass has slender muscular body of very good size & weight, good breadth to chest, stands tall on wellmuscled legs, dainty spoon-shaped paws, tapering tail is of good length thus balances her body. She appears to have dropped her coat not so long ago as there is evidence of re-growth, thus although the coat covers her completely the length is uneven, the rexing on her body is closely waved if rather straight on her shoulders & back, her tail is well covered & rexed but there are some guard hairs present. Shown in very good condition & well prepared I really liked this pert young lady who obviously has great character & a sweeter than sweet nature. Onwards & upwards. Also considered for BoB DAVIES s Ch BOUNTIFUL BRAVE SIR ROBIN. Male. DRX bs 11 mths, 3 wks. I d like to see this dear boy again when more mature. SINGAPURA ADULT. 2 Females present 1 for BoB only. BoB awarded to BROOKS Gd Ch JANAMEL CAHAYA ROSE. 2 yrs, 9 mths. My notes simply say exquisite lady got the lot & the most meltingly sweet disposition to top it off!.

4 SINGAPURA ADULT cont. 1 st Sorry, CC Not awarded JUDGE s DIANA MINIMALI. SIN. 18 ½ months. Immature still - moderate head showing good width & rounding at cheek bones (outer eye), skull is gently rounded between her ears, also to her brow & forehead, muzzle is rather fine but commensurate with her age. Profile shows a slight stop at her nasal bridge, broad straight nose has brick coloured leather & complete nose liner, chin of good depth recedes slightly, level bite. Noticeably large ears with rounded tips have warm salmon tones on the backs, are quite broad at the base but are rather high set. Expressive, brilliant green eyes are large & lustrous, held wide open, almost round with the desired slight slant toward the nose when at rest, they have dark brown liner around the eyelids with lighter coloured surrounds & cheetah markings in the inner corners. Young queen looking a little unbalanced still has a medium sized semi-cobby body of good weight with a muscular athletic feel, elegant muscular legs, dainty oval paws have dark brown pads & short spurs up the hind heels, slightly thick tail of medium length has a dark brown tip that is pointed in shape rather than the desired blunt finish. Short, sleek, shining coat with satin-like feel is of old ivory ticked with two bands of very dark brown lacking warmth & thus the subtly refined delicate colouring, she has a dark spine line & outer hind knee barring, but the inner foreleg barring encroaches onto the outer flat plane. Shown in good condition, I liked this sweetie immensely thus it pained me that owing to the barring on her outer forelegs, ear set & colouring I was unable to award of the CC today. SPHYNX FEMALE ADULT. 1 present + 3 for BoB only. A class of top quality ladies thank you. BoB awarded to Miss P SIMMS s exquisite lady Gd Ch ISIDA ANGEL STAR reported on in detail very recently so suffice it to say that she is sheer purrfection, has the most meltingly sweet disposition & is a master class lesson to exhibitors on condition & presentation. 1 st & CC HICKS GATODOURO BLISSFULLY BLUE MERLINI. SPH a mths, 1 wk. A splendid young queen only just adult but looking so poised & mature for her age you d never guess it super head set on an elegant muscular neck has lovely prominent cheek bones with the desired rounded contours, strong muzzle, distinctive whisker breaks & gorgeous prominent rounded whisker pads. Profile shows a flat forehead, a slight change of direction at the nasal bridge, fabulous deep level chin (the best I ve ever seen on a Sphynx) & level bite. Lovely large ears have a modicum of coverage along the lower edges but are well shaped & set. Pale greenish-yellow eyes (she was closing the left) are

5 lemon shaped, spaced well apart but could be slightly larger for perfection. Young queen of excellent size, weight & conformation has an elegant muscular body, broad chest & a well-rounded abdomen, long elegant muscular legs, oval paws with finger-like toes have thick cushioned pads, heavy based tapering tail of good length is covered in very thick fur-like stubble giving it an incorrect bristly feel. She has wrinkles around her muzzle& on the top of her head, the skin/down on her body has the desired resistance & wonderfully warm chamoisleather feel. A well-mannered young lady in splendid condition who lost the BoB on account of the incorrect texture of her tail, which if this can be overcome, she has a very rosy future ahead. Also considered for BoB MacDONNELL s Gd Ch RUBY RUE of PHILOKALIA. SPH f. 14 ½ months. Another super lady who I liked immensely & would certainly consider her worthy of an Imp but who just dropped a couple of points on her ear set & weak chin. HICKS s Ch MERLINI MYSTIC TOPAZ. SPH h months. RUSSIAN BLUE KITTEN. 1 present. 1 st & BoB MURRAY-BROOKS ANNUSIA LYUDMILA FEODOROVNA. Female. RUS a. 6 months. Lovely look to this alert intelligent lass short head wedge but top of head is slightly rounded still, good breadth to muzzle that has lovely prominent rounded whisker pads. Profile shows a straight forehead, nose from bridge to tip is virtually straight but the angle at the brow bone has yet to develop, good depth to chin that is set back thus not in the same plane as the tip of the nose, level bite. Lovely large wide based pointed ears set vertically to the head have a little too much width between. Gorgeous pea green eyes are of good size & spaced well apart but she was rounding them slightly. Well grown girl has a lovely long elegant muscular body of very good weight, long elegant muscular legs, neat oval paws, tail of good length is rather thick & has a rounded tip. Fabulous medium blue double coat showing a few ghost tail rings has a super silvery sheen, is velvety soft & has a lovely dense undercoat. Shown in splendid condition, I loved this beautiful girl who has the most meltingly sweet disposition. Later in the day, it gave me great pleasure to award her the accolade of Best Foreign Kitten.

6 DEVON REX MALE KITTEN. 4 present. 1 st PERKINS PREMIUMCATS ASPEN. DRX n mths, 4 wks. A charming chap with that unique mischievous expression broad high cheek boned wedge set on a lovely long muscular neck is quite broad with a strong muzzle, well-defined whisker breaks, short wavy whiskers & eye brows. Profile shows rounding to brow, flat skull at forehead & between his ears, good stop to shortish nose, chin is rather weak & receding but his bite is level. Lovely large wide based ears with muffs & tufts have rounded tips but he was alert & interested thus holding them rather high. Large lustrous blue eyes are oval, spaced well apart & have that unique mischievous expression. Well-made lad of good size has slender muscular body of good weight for size, lovely broad chest, stands tall on slender muscular legs, neat oval paws, tail of good length & shape is well covered & rexed, the hair at the tip is just a little long at present. Lovely soft fine dense coat that covers body, limbs & undersides completely has rexing coming along nicely. Shown in top condition, I loved this adorable chap who held quite a conversation with us. Sad to say, the following 3 boys all had withholding faults so rather than withhold 2 nd & award 3 rd, to save any confusion, I chose not to make any further awards, but feel that each should receive a critique notwithstanding. HOBSON-KELLY s NOBILERO LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR. DRX n. 3 months. At first glance I had marked this boy down as my winner.. a long muscular neck supports a high cheek boned wedge that could be broader & is showing a slight teething pinch today, but the whisker breaks are quite well-defined. Profile shows that skull is slightly rounded still, good stop to short nose, his chin is very weak & receding but his bite is level. Fabulous ears (real jugs) with tufts & muffs are well shaped & when relaxed are set quite low. Expressive greenish-yellow eyes are oval & spaced well apart but could be larger. Just old enough to be shown but well grown for his age with a slender muscular body of good weight, broad chest, stands tall on well-muscled legs, neat oval paws, long fine tapering tail is well covered with the rexing developing. Fine coat that covers him completely unfortunately is excessively short, straight & has a very large area of guard hairs from the nape of his neck to the base of his tail making his coat feel extremely harsh & wire brush-like. Shown in good condition, whilst this boy s type is quite good, his coat was such on the day that I couldn t make a higher award. HOBSON-KELLY s NOBILERO PHOENIX VINCENTOS. DRX d. 3 months. Litter brother of the above but not such good type - a high cheek boned wedge set on a long muscular neck should be much broader & is showing a slight teething pinch today, but the whisker breaks are quite well-defined. Profile

7 shows that his skull is also slightly rounded still, stop to short nose is currently absent, he also has a weak receding chin but his bite is level. Large wide based ears with rounded tips should be set somewhat lower. His eyes looked very sore & he was screwing them up which distorted them completely making them appear Oriental. Good size & weight to this chap s slender muscular body that has a broad chest, stands tall on well-muscled legs, neat oval paws, long fine tapering tail is well covered but as yet there is no sign of any rexing. I ve never seen a coat like this before fine & dense, velvety soft but excessively short & completely straight. Shown in good condition & with the sweetest imaginable disposition a real heart-stealer. PERKINS PREMIUMCATS ALLADIN. DRX n mths, 4 wks. Shown in top condition & with the soppiest nature possible, sadly this dear boy displays clear evidence of carrying the LH gene & as such all awards must be withheld. So sorry to disappoint, but the SOP is quite clear on this. DEVON REX FEMALE KITTEN. 3 present. 1 st & BoB CATCHESIDE s MAYSTAREX LADY BEAUFORT. DRX j mths, 3 wks. Delightful little lady who nearly got popped in my pocket - short broad high cheek boned wedge set on a long muscular neck has a nice strong muzzle, welldefined whisker breaks, short stubbly whiskers & eyebrows. Profile shows rounded brow, flat skull to forehead & between ears, good stop to short nose, chin is level but shallow, level bite. Lovely large low set, wide based ears have tufted tips & muffs around the bases. Oval eyes are yellow with a greenish cast, are lovely & large, spaced well apart & have the classic mischievous Devon expression. Slightly heavy boned girl of very good size & weight has a slender muscular body with a nice broad chest, stands tall on well-muscled legs, dainty oval paws, wonderfully expressive Devon tail of good length is well covered & rexed. Totally coated, soft, fine & dense with rexing that is developing well. Shown in top condition, she was rather apprehensive whilst out on the trolley but once in the safety of her pen was utterly delightful & sweet as honey. I could have taken her home. I smothered her with kisses. 2 nd RANKIN s MAYSTAREX REGINA GLORIANA. DRX j mths, 3 wks. Litter sister of above but not terribly typey an elegant muscular neck supports a high cheek boned wedge that could be both shorter & broader, muzzle is rather fine & whisker breaks poorly defined, short stubbly whiskers & eyebrows. Profile shows rounded brow, sloping forehead, weak stop, shallow receding chin, level bite. Large wide based ears with tufts & muffs fail in that they are high set. Fabulous large aqua eyes are oval in shape, spaced well apart & have a really naughty Devon expression. Well grown girlie of good weight

8 has a slender muscular body that has a broad chest, stands tall on well-muscled legs, dainty oval paws, tail of good shape & length is well covered & rexed. A short, fine, soft, dense coat with the rexing coming in covers her completely. Shown in good condition, this sweet soul had a long conversation with us. 3 rd KEATES WYREWOOD ROLO. DRX b. 4 mths, 3 wks. Unfortunately, this lass shouted Burmese at me, not Devon. Short broad wedge set on a well-muscled neck is rather fine in the muzzle but the whisker breaks are quite well defined & she has short, fine wavy whiskers & eyebrows. Profile shows rounded brow, flat skull at forehead & between ears, weak stop to short nose, receding chin is extremely shallow but bite is level. Large wide based ears with muffs & tufts are of Burmese shape & setting. Gold eyes that are well set could be larger & are of incorrect round shape. Rather small & fine for her age this girl has a slender muscular body of good weight for size, broad chest, stands tall on slender muscular legs, dainty oval paws, tapering tail of good length is well covered & rexed but has a small fault near the tip. Short fine coat that is quite well rexed & covers her completely lacks the desired density & soft texture which is not helped by the presence of an excessive quantity of guard hairs down her spine & on her tail. A sweet shy girl in good condition. SINGAPURA NEUTER. 1 present for BoB only. BoB awarded to Jane & Mel BROOKS gorgeous boy Imp GP JANAMEL DEWA AIM. 5 yrs, 10 mths. handsome chap with manners to match who epitomises the Breed. Report ends. Dorothy A Stone
