1 ESSEX CAT CLUB, 8 APRIL 2017 Judge: Ms Elisabeth Stark I had a lovely time at this show: my thanks to Caroline and all the show team, for their excellent hospitality again. I was helped on the day by Claire Styles hard to believe it was your first time stewarding Claire, and thank you again for your gentle handling of both me and the cats! I had some really super cats today, with some very difficult decisions to be made, including the honour of judging the Overall Best Household Pet, where I had to choose between a glorious 15 year old tortie tabby and white lady OSIGMC Heidi, who I understand was made up to Gold Olympian on the day; and a super-handsome 11 year old chocolate gentleman, IGMC Teddy. Both were presented in wonderful condition, both looked half their age, and after much deliberation I chose the chocolate gentleman for his lovely non-stop purr. BREED CLASSES Russian Blue Kitten Female 1st & BoB Murray-Brooks Annusia Lyudmilla Feodorovna (RUS a), F, An adorable little baby, just 15 weeks and 1 day old, with a really super coat. She has excellent upright ears that are well-shaped with pointed tips enhanced by little tufts. In profile her angle is still to develop but she has a good short, straight nose, a level bite and a reasonable chin she still has all her tiny baby teeth. Full face she has a good short wedge with quite prominent whisker pads. She was tending to round her eyes in excitement but when cradled in my arms she had the correct almond-shaped eyes. She has really promising eye colour, a deep bluey-green at present. Her coat is fantastic for her tender age: short, fine, soft, dense and admirably well-coloured to the roots, a medium blue with a clear silvery sheen which is just slightly uneven in places so she shows a couple of kittenish shadow markings. She has excellent overall build with good length to her body already, lovely little oval paws and her medium length tail tapers to a pointed tip. We enjoyed a lovely cuddle, during which she nearly managed to steal my pen out of my pocket she certainly stole my heart. Chocolate Burmese Kitten Female 1st & BoB Robertshaw s Rossikhan Just For You (BUR b), F, A super stylish baby, very eye-catching and very sweet-natured too. She has a super short wedge, wide at the cheekbones and tapering to a lovely blunt finish at the muzzle with excellent width at the jaw hinge. She has an excellent slightly rounded brow and in profile shows a really good distinct nose break, short, straight nose level bite and firm chin and good depth to her head overall. Her ears still look quite large and are very well-shaped with rounded tips and broad at the base. They are beautifully set well apart continuing the lines of her upper face with a slight forward tilt. She has lovely large, lustrous yellow eyes, set well apart with a straighter top line slanting to the nose and a super fuller rounded lower line so expressive. Her proportionate medium length body, is slender, muscular and quite heavy although she looked like she had enjoyed a big breakfast! Although she is not yet 6 months old she could perhaps be slightly bigger for her age. Her legs are slender and proportionate and her oval paws are quite neat. Her tail tapers slightly from a medium base to a rounded tip but could be slightly longer for perfect balance. Her coat is a bit kittenish in texture, quite short, fine and lies close to her body but could be a bit more satiny. It is an excellent even colour on her body, milk chocolate that could be warmer in tone, and slightly darker and warmer on her ears and face. She has an excellent purr, and is another heartstealer. 2 Russian Blue Neuter Two stunning cats entered, both of whom more than deserved a BOB award. BoB Bandy s IGrPr Troika Boris Godunov (RUS a), MN, A lovely stylish lad with super type, and real Russian expression, now coming up for 4 years old. He has super large ears that are very well shaped and set on his flat skull, an excellent clear angle in his profile, a definite concave curve and a short, straight nose. He has the loveliest green eyes, a super almond shape set apart on a gentle slant: he has a wonderful soulful expression. He has super prominent whisker pads on that lovely short wedge. Excellent density to his short, quite fine, medium blue coat which has a subtle silvery sheen. Overall excellent build and a good balancing length to his tapering tail. Such a calm, gentle soul he quite won me over and I awarded him my judge s choice rosette later in the day. I was delighted at the end of the day to see that this was an old friend of mine he really does get even better every time I see him. A real treasure. Also entered: Bandy s Gr Ch & Pr Troika Rusalka (RUS a), FN, Another adorable cat with oodles of style, and it pained me that I had to leave her unplaced. I see now that she is the litter sister of my Best of Breed winner. She also has lovely type and a super look to her, but it just took a bit more persuasion from me for her to put her lovely large ears properly upright for me. She has a good short wedge with lovely prominent whisker pads and an endearingly sozzled expression in her green almond-shaped eyes. She has a really super short, soft, fine and fantastically dense coat with a clear silvery sheen over the mid-blue colour, but it just tended to lie a little bit flatter on her lower back. She has excellent overall build and a good tail tapering to a pointed tip. A sweet and wriggly girl who made clear her desire for tummy tickles. Korat Neuter Male BoB Treacher s Gr Pr Saluay Chuaang Dow (KOR), MN, Very good type to this mature Korat gentleman who is now 6 years and 8 months old. He has huge clear green eyes that he was holding very wide open. He has excellent large ears with rounded tips and flared base, set very well with an alert look. His flat forehead could perhaps be just slightly wider for perfection. He has an excellent profile with a slight stop and downward slope to the nose and a good level bite. He shows lovely gentle curves to his head giving the correct heart-shape overall. He has a very good short, single coat clear blue with light silver tipping. He has excellent overall build with a strong semi-cobby body with proportionate legs and oval paws: his tail tapers to a slightly pointed end and could be longer. A very gentle, quiet and amiable boy. MISCELLANEOUS/CLUB CLASSES AV Foreign Aristocrat Adult 1 st Hope s Typhast Xena (BEN n 24), F, An attractive young Bengal lady, just 13 months old and not yet fully mature. Her medium length wedge is quite broad with good rounded contours and high cheekbones. She has a good broad nose and quite pronounced whisker pads. She has a good profile with a slight concave curve to her nose and a rounded strong chin. Her medium size ears are wide at the base and have quite rounded tips, although she was tending to hold them slightly high. Her large oval green eyes show a good slight slant. Her coat is short, quite dense and luxuriously soft to the touch. She has excellent distinct dark markings around a deep warm shade over a very warm gold base and has super gold glitter. She has good facial markings overall, with clear dark mascara although she wasn t showing pale spectacles, a clear M on her forehead and well-defined scarab marking. She has a dark chin strap and necklaces and her body shows clear rosettes and spots of varying sizes with a couple of spots slightly elongated: the spots on her tummy are also well defined. Her legs have horizontal lines at the top and spots towards her feet and she has clear tail rings. Her medium size body is Page 2 of 7

3 long and quite muscular and she has quite round medium size paws too. Her medium thick tail is quite long but has a good rounded tip. AV Foreign Limit Adult 1 st Brimsden s Gossamyst Yani Qlancy (AUM n 24), M, A lovely big brown spotted Australian Mist boy, now 4 years and 7 months old, who has excellent overall type. He has a lovely open, generous expression and a very wellproportioned head that is broad, moderately short and shows gently rounded contours. He has well-developed whisker pads and is broad at the jaw hinge. Excellent profile, showing a concave curve below the eyes, and quite a deep chin. He has a rather fine set of stud choppers making his well-shaped ears look a bit smaller than they really are they are wellset and spaced well apart. His large green eyes are well-shaped and have a lovely gentle expression to them. His medium length coat is a good texture with some resilience to it. His markings are a seal brown over a pale warm beige and are very misted, with the spots disappearing a bit on his sides. He has some elongated spots on his flanks, bars on his rear legs and rings at the end of his tail. He has a broken necklace and good facial markings. He is a big boy, heavy and substantial and of excellent overall build. He is also utterly adorable, all purrs and sloppy kisses. AV Foreign Titled Neuter 1st Hardy s Pr Kagura Ajax (ASH n 25 31), MN, A lovely ticked tabby Asian boy, Burmese expression brown, 2 years and 10 months old and very stylish indeed. He has really excellent overall type with a lovely short balanced wedge with super width at the cheekbones, good width at the jaw hinge and a nice blunt end to his muzzle. He has very gentle rounding between his lovely ears which are large and very well shaped and set, with rounded tips broad at the base and set beautifully well apart continuing the lines of his upper face with a slight forward tilt. In profile he has a really good nose break, an excellent straight nose, and a level bite although his incisors are slightly untidy. He has super large lustrous eyes, so expressive, an attractive shade of soft green that are set wide apart and show excellent shape with a typical straighter top line that slants to the nose and an excellent fuller and rounded lower lid. His coat texture is also excellent being short, fine, super-smooth and lying close to the body with a lovely satiny feel. His coat shows clear bands of dark seal brown ticking over a creamy beige base, although he does have dark roots right now, and a slightly paler beige belly with no markings on it. His facial markings are excellent overall with an M on his forehead, a slightly solid skull cap, excellent clear thumbprints on his ears, some cheek tracings, a dark outline to his dark pink nose, and he has a paler chin. He has super seal brown hocks, very slight bars on his legs, and a very well-defined spine line that continues down his tail to a long dark seal brown coloured tip. He has a lovely slender medium length body that feels muscular, heavy and firm, with a straight back, a nicely rounded chest, excellent slender legs and lovely neat oval paws. His medium long tail is in balance and well-shaped tapering slightly to a nicely rounded tip. He also has a lovely nature, sweet and gentle to handle and he shows himself very well indeed. 2nd Bandy s IGrPr Troika Boris Godunov (RUS a), MN, AV Foreign Senior Neuter Male 1st Mires Gr Pr Memphis Anubis (MAU ns 24), MN, A handsome silver spotted Egyptian Mau boy, 2 years and 7 months old. He has excellent overall type with medium sized ears that are well set and a super shape. He has a medium length, slightly rounded wedge and excellent parallel lines to his nose, plus a brick-coloured nose leather. His lovely clear green eyes are an excellent shape and set under a level brow, giving an excellent worried expression. His coat texture is very good, being short, fine and close lying. It has a clean pale silver ground with charcoal coloured spots of varying sizes that could be more clearly defined: some are slightly elongated on his sides. He has a clear triple broken line of spots down his back. He is a solidly-made boy of excellent build with a tapering medium long tail. A very attractive boy. Page 3 of 7

4 2nd Treacher s Gr Pr Saluay Chuaang Dow (KOR), MN, AV Foreign Senior Neuter Female 1st Smith s UK IGr Pr Kwansan Satinka Belle (SIN), FN, A lovely mature Singapura lady, neary 6 years old. She has strikingly good type, showing excellent rounded contours to her head with a good broad muzzle showing a definite whisker break and a blunt end to her nose. In profile she has a good rounded skull but needs a bit more of a slight stop: she has a good straight nose. Her eyes are very beautiful, large and set well apart, held wide open with a good dark outline and pale green in colour. She has super coat texture, short, fine, silky and very close-lying. She has excellent markings too, with well-defined sepia ticking over an ivory base, unticked on her belly and inside her legs, a heavy tail line and a well-defined dark tail tip. She has warm gold colour behind her ears, a dark outline to her salmon coloured nose leather, and clear cheetah lines from the inner corners of her eyes. She is a good medium size overall, although carrying a bit of extra weight around her midriff, and small oval feet and her slim, medium length tail tapers slightly to a correct blunt tip. 2nd Bandy s Gr Ch & Pr Troika Rusalka (RUS a), FN, rd Edmund s Hildrek Dream Time (AUM c 22), FN, AC Burmese Titled Adult Part 1 1st Pearman s Ch Jomarc Luna Lovegood (BUR a), F, A lovely little blue Burmese lady with a gorgeous expression. She has a super short wedge with lovely width at the cheekbones. Her wedge tapers to a super blunt finish at the muzzle with excellent width at her jaw hinge. She has a good slightly rounded brow and in profile has a very distinct nose break and excellent straight nose and firm chin. Her excellent medium size ears are well shaped, broad at the base with rounded ear tips. They are set quite well apart, although she was tending to hold them a bit alert today. She has super large, lustrous chartreuse coloured eyes that are set beautifully wide apart and are very wellshaped with a straighter top line slanting to the nose and a well-rounded bottom line. Her slender body is short to medium in length and is hard and muscular, heavy for her size although she could be a bigger cat overall. Her legs are slender and proportionate and her paws neat and oval in shape. Her tail is a good shape tapering slightly to a rounded tip and is quite a good length to balance. Her coat is short, fine, quite satiny and lies close to her body. It is a good even blue in colour with silver apparent on her rounded contours. In excellent condition and a pleasure to handle. 2nd Lewis Ch Lavinshky Myboy-Lollipop (BUR b), M, A mature chocolate Burmese gentleman. He has quite a short wedge with reasonable width at the cheekbones tapering to a blunt finish at the muzzle although he could be wider at the jaw hinge. He has a good slightly rounded brow but in profile really needs a better defined nose break and his nose slopes off: his chin could be deeper and rather merges into his well-developed jowls. His medium size ears are well-shaped with rounded tips and broad at the base, set well apart and continue the lines of his upper face. His eyes are quite large and lustrous and chartreuse in colour. They are set well apart and show a straighter top line slanting slightly to the nose and a fuller lower line. His medium length body has slender lines although he is carrying some extra weight. He has a good straight back, slender proportionate legs and quite neat oval paws. His well-shaped tail tapers slightly to a rounded tip and is a good length to balance. His coat is quite short, fine and lies quite close to the body: I noted a small amount of fur missing from the top of his head. It is a lovely warm chocolate colour with his body colour blending into a slightly darker face, ears and tail: his tail is rather brindled. He was quite excitable today, pacing and paddy-pawing in his pen. AC Burmese Titled Adult Part 2 1st Tegg s UK IGr Ch Bloomers Bodacious Broad (BUR c), F, A lilac Burmese female with gorgeous type and a beautifully balanced head. She has a super short wedge with lovely width at the cheekbones, tapering to an excellent blunt finish Page 4 of 7

Her yellow eyes are gorgeous, witheringly expressive, set well apart with a straighter top line showing the correct slant to the nose and a super deeper curve to the bottom line just a bit of staining underneath them. Although a neatly-made girl she has good overall build with a slender medium body that is hard and muscular, a good straight back, slender proportionate legs and lovely neat oval paws. Her tail is an excellent shape, tapering slightly from a medium thick base to a rounded tip and is long enough to reach her shoulders. Her coat is quite short, and it is fine and smooth and lies close to her body. It is quite a warm and even milk chocolate in colour, just slightly uneven colour on her lower back. AC Burmese Novice Adult 1st Chapman-Beer s Tribune Cinderella (BUR c), F, A very sweet young lilac Burmese girl, still needing to mature a bit more. Her wedge is quite short, with good width at the cheekbones and tapers to quite a blunt finish at the muzzle: she needs more width at the jaw hinge and her muzzle looks slightly long. She has a good slightly rounded brow, a good distinct nose break in profile and quite a straight nose that just rolls off a bit at the end. She has lovely ears, medium size and well-shaped with rounded tips and broad at the base, set well part and continuing the lines of her upper face. Her eyes are very striking - lustrous, quite large and a rich gold in colour. They are set well apart and well-shaped with a straighter top line and deeper curve to the lower line. Her slender body is medium long, with a good heavy muscular feel for her size. She has excellent slender proportionate legs and the loveliest neat little oval paws. Her tail is an excellent length and shape, with a medium thick base tapering slightly to a rounded tip. She has a super coat it is short, fine and smooth with a lovely satiny feel and lies beautifully close to her body. She is a super-soft girlie with just the sweetest nature. 2nd Lewis Henacre Brownleaze-Dylan (BUR d), M, A red Burmese boy with a medium wedge that is wide at the cheekbones and tapers to quite a blunt-ended muzzle with some width at the jaw hinge. He has a well-shaped tail to balance, tapering slightly to a rounded tip: it has a bony excrescence at the very end. He has a gorgeous soft nature, just the sweetest thing! 2nd Brininger s Isajen Karrie-Kintyre (BUR n), M, A very playful brown Burmese boy. He has good width at the cheekbones but his wedge needs to be shorter: it tapers to a blunt finish at the muzzle and he has some width at the jaw hinge. His brow could have more rounding and a more distinct nose break: his nose is straight and he has a level bite and chin. His medium size ears are well shaped with rounded tips and broad at the base, set quite well apart with a slight forward tilt. His gold coloured eyes are quite large and lustrous and show a straighter top line slating to the nose and a fuller lower line.
