My thanks go to Janet for inviting me to judge at this very busy and friendly show. I had some lovely exhibits. Apologies to exhibitors for the lack of critiques from the miscellaneous classes. I was so busy on the day that I did not have enough time to take any meaningful notes. Thanks also go to my most efficient steward Sandra Underwood. She was great company as always. Class 379: Brown Spotted Bengal Adult CC awarded to Mrs J Jones GALENCIS NANCY (BEN n24, ) F This is a young girl of quite good Bengal type. Her head is fairly broad with rounded contours and it is slightly longer than wider. Her muzzle is nicely rounded, but is a little narrow, and with a slight pinch, but she has a broad nose and a profile that shows a gentle dip from her nose bridge to the tip. Her chin recedes a little and she has a level bite. Her medium sized ears are set well apart, and they are wide at the base. Her eyes are large, and they are a lovely shape, being slightly oval, and they are a pale green in colour, albeit they were very well dilated. Her tail is long, banded, and it tapers with a dark tip. She has a short and very soft coat with excellent dark brown markings on a warm gold base coat. Her markings are very well defined, with some lovely rosettes in three shades of brown. She has attractive facial markings, with a clear scarab, and an M, a spotty belly, and she has a broad spine line which diverges towards the base of her tail. She sports attractive heavy necklets and she has a white chin. She was a rather nervous, vocal and uptight girl today, but I was able to handle her. Her eyes are large, and they are a very lovely shape, being slightly oval, and they are a clear mid green in colour. She has a short and very soft coat with excellent dark brown markings on a warm and very clear gold base coat. Her markings are very well defined. She has attractive facial markings, with a clear scarab, and an M, a lovely spotty belly with a hint of white in the groin area. His tail is thick at the base, banded, with a black tip and with a slight tension nobble. His coat is beautiful, it is very soft to the touch, with well defined pale brown rosetting, set on an ivory ground coat. He has attractive head markings, a scarab, an M, a spotty belly and he sports necklets. He is a nice boy who was easy to handle. Considered for and awarded BoB Mrs M Hibb GR CH CHRISJAY JACK-FROST (BEN n 24 33, ) M This is a grown up blue-eyed boy of 30 months of age.
He has good Bengal type with a head that is very broad. It is slightly longer than wider, with nicely rounded contours throughout, he has a broad nose and pronounced whisker pads. His chin is firm and he has a level bite. He has medium sized ears that are widely set. His eyes are large, nicely oval in shape, and they are a lovely clear sapphire blue. His tail is thick at the base, banded, with a black tip. His coat is most attractive, it is soft to the touch with some density, with well defined brown rosetting, set on a lovely clear ivory ground coat and with pearlescent dusting. He has rufous tones to his head, attractive head markings, a scarab, an M, a spotty belly and he sports necklets. Another nice boy who was easy to handle. Also considered for BoB: Mrs P Hadley CH RHODIC CARAMEL of LIGHTPAW (BEN n 24 32, )M This young AOC eyed boy is just over two years of age. He has good Bengal type with a head that is very broad. It is slightly longer than wider, with nicely rounded contours throughout, he has a broad nose and pronounced whisker pads. His chin is a little shallow and he has a level bite. He has medium sized ears that are widely set. His eyes are large, nicely oval in shape, and they are a lovely shade of aquamarine. His tail is a little thin at the base, banded, with a black tip. His coat is very fine and short and is soft to the touch, with well defined pale brown rosetting, set on a very clear pale tan ground coat. He handled well. Class 385: Egyptian Mau Adult CC & BoB awarded to Mr D Garwoond GENIEMAU NEBULA (MAU n 24, ) F This young lady of 20 months has a lovely Mau expression. She has a rounded wedge of medium length with fair width to the top of her head. Her head is slightly narrow, but her muzzle is gently rounded in shape, and it flows into the contours of her head. Her profile is good with a concave dip from her nose bridge to her nose leather and a slight rise from her bridge to her forehead. Her nose is the desired uniform width and she has a good level bite. Her ears are large in size, set cupped forward and are correctly angled, following the contours of her head. She sports ear tufts which make her ears look a little pointed. Her eyes are almond shaped but their colour needs to develop. They are primarily amber at present, with only a hint of the desired gooseberry green colour evident. They are set under a level brow, which together with her uniform nose width, gives her a good Mau expression. She has a slim body, with a solid muscular feel to it. She has elegant legs, with barring and spots and nearly rounded paws. Her tail is of a medium length, heavily banded and with a solid black tip. Her coat is quite soft to the touch and the base coat is a little cold in appearance, lacking the desired warm bronze tones and the roots also have grey tones. Her base coat is a pale
grey/brown in colour topped with dark brown spots. She has a just broken necklace. Her head has some attractive rufous tones. She had a pleasing nature, a little wriggly, but she was easy to handle. I hesitated whether to award her the CC, on the basis of her eye colour and the tone of her coat, but in the end, given the lighting in the show hall, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Class 398: Chocolate/Lilac Abyssinian kitten 1 st and BoB to Mrs J P Atkinson WINNOTHDALE KING ROLLO (Aby b, ) M This is a promising chocolate kitten of just over seven months of age. He has a well balanced Aby head with nicely rounded contours thoughout. He has a moderately sized wedge and a rounded muzzle. He is gently rounded from his brow to the top of his head, and he also has very good width between his ears. His profile shows a slight nose break, with a straight line from the bridge of his nose to his nose tip. He has a level bite. His chin is deep but it recedes just a little. His ears are large, wide at the base and they are set well apart on his head. They are well cupped forwards, and are slightly furry on the insides. He holds them well and they follow the lines of his head. His large eyes are very attractive. They are expressive, and are set well, having a good rounded almond shape and they are lifted towards the base of his ears in an oriental setting. They were very well dilated when I met him but I could detect that they are amber in colour. He has a lithe and muscular body. His legs are slim and elegant with small oval paws and pinky chocolate paw pads. His hocks show a darker colour and this darker colour extends reasonably well up the back of his legs. His tail is thick at the base and it tapers to a fine & solid dark chocolate tip. He has a short & fine coat which lies beautifully and it has a lovely feel to it with some resilience to the touch. His overall appearance is a very warm and rich coppery brown and with the roots also a coppery brown. He has a well defined spine line in dark chocolate down his back which extends all the way down his tail to the tip. His ticking is excellent, in a dark chocolate and I could detect four bands of colour in his coat. He has distinctive and attractive facial markings in with vertical pigmentation lines from his forehead to the inner edges of his eyes. His nose leather is a pinky chocolate and he has a creamy coloured chin. He was a quite an excitable kitten, but he was easy to handle. He is a lovely boy and I look forward to meeting him again in the future. Class 415: Ocicat Kitten 1 st and BoB to Mrs R McLeod NWELA NEPTUNE (OCI n, ) M This young lad is just over 6 months of age.. He is of very promising Ocicat type, with his wild look already developing, with a head that is longer than wider and with a slight curve showing from his muzzle to his cheek. He has a gentle rise at his brow, a noticeable dip in his profile and a strong and broad muzzle which has the desired square shape. He has a slight whisker pinch and a level bite.
His chin is deep, but recedes a little. His ears are moderately large in size with rounded tips and are set well at the desired 45 degree angle and with good width between them. He has large deep amber coloured eyes which are a good almond shape. They are rimmed in dark brown and they are angled very slightly upwards towards his ears.. He is a very well grown young man with a lean, muscular and athletic appearance. His legs are of good substance, quite stocky, and have some attractive barring. His paw pads are black. His tail is long, with a good broad base and with dark rings down its length and it tapers slightly towards a solid brown tip. His short coat lies very well and it felt soft. His base coat is tawny in colour with ticking present. His spotting is dark brown in colour with clear small brown spots. I was able to detect the desired bull s eye patterning on both sides of his body. He also has a defined spine line in warmer brown tones and a spotty belly. His nose leather is brick red rimmed with black. His head has some very attractive markings, with an M on his forehead, and lines extending up over his head and between his ears. An unbroken stripe runs from the corner of his eyes towards his ears. He sports two broken necklaces. This young man was a pleasure to judge and I look forward to meeting him again. Class 914: SH Self Cat BiC to Miss H J Watkins IGMC SHERLOCK (SH White, 2 yrs) MN What a super boy, who was clad in a very soft pure white coat. He has lovely blue eyes, a pink nose and pink ears. He was very well prepared for his day out and handled extremely well. A poppet, who was well deserving of the BiC. Class 928: SH AOC or Pattern Cat This was a super class with all three exhibits deserving the BiC. BiC to Mrs J Harling SUP UK OSIGC CHILLI (SH Red Tabby point, 4 yrs 10 mths) MN I have met this lovely boy before and he does not fail to impress. He sports a very soft creamy coat with attractive red points and it had been beautifully prepared. He is a huge boy with sky blue eyes and a ringed tail and who was just so composed. Divine! Also considered for BiC: Miss J Dodd MC BLACKEY (SH Black Smoke, 4yrs 8mths) MN
This is another very lovely cat of Devon type. He has super rexxing on a dark brown/black coat which has some smokiness around his neck. He has large ears with huge tufts and expressive light green eyes. This friendly boy handled very well. Mrs A-M Mason MC MISS DELILAH (SH Chocolate, 1 yr) FN What a sweet Burmese girl with widely set ears, dark amber eyes and a super soft coat in shades of chocolate. Despite her text book grumpy look, she had an excellent and very gentle temperament.
