Prfessr David Bennett is Assciate Dean at the University f Glasgw Veterinary Faculty and head f a research grup. In additin t his clinical and teaching interests, his current research includes stearthritis in cats, the rle f cytkines in arthritis and ther sites f inflammatin, the applicatin f gene therapy t arthritis and the use f stem cells in cartilage repair. Prfessr Bennett has been awarded numerus awards and is an hnrary life-time member f the British Veterinary Orthpaedic Assciatin in recgnitin f his utstanding cntributins t small animal rthpaedics. He has ver 300 publicatins. He is n the editrial bards f Veterinary Cmparative Orthpaedics and Traumatlgy and Jurnal f Feline Medicine and Surgery. I was frtunate enugh t listen t Prf. Bennett present at a Feline stearthritis sympsium 3 years ag. His research and insights int feline pain and in particular feline stearthritis sparked my interest and led t my wn research in this field. His wrk has helped pen all ur eyes t the "silent" wrld f chrnic pain in cats and its successful management tday and amazing pssibilities int the future. He is ne f the fremst veterinary rthpaedists in the wrld tday, with his surgical experience and levels f published research hugely respected. His presentatins will be invaluable t any veterinarian with an interest in pain management and stearthritis. Dr. Richard Gwan, BVSc(Hns) MACVSc(Feline Medicine) CMAVA The Cat Clinic - Prahran BSc(hns) BVetMed PhD FACVSc (feline medicine) MRCVS, Feline Medicine Specialist, Assciate Prfessr in Small Animal Medicine c-runs the busy feline medicine referral service at the Valentine Charltn Cat Centre, University f Sydney. Her career has been devted t imprving the health f cats. Julia graduated frm the Ryal Veterinary Cllege, Lndn in 1989 then, after a perid in practice, mved t the University f Glasgw where she cmpleted a PhD and pst-dctral studies n Feline Immundeficiency Virus. She has practiced feline medicine in primary and referral facilities and is a registered Specialist in Feline Medicine. She is currently Assciate Prfessr in small animal medicine at the University f Sydney. Her grup s main clinical research interests are feline infectius diseases. Julia has published ver 50 peer-reviewed papers and bk chapters. She presents clinical research and cntinuing educatin seminars internatinally.
