5 TRIAL PARTICIPATION Eligibility Purebred and mixed breed dgs 6 mnths f age and lder may enter a trial. Dgs must be registered with Wag It Games t be eligible fr qualifying scres and placements. Dgs that exhibit signs f pain, discmfrt, bandages, stitches r illness may nt participate. Dgs in estrus may nt cmpete r be present n the grunds. Safety First - Dgs under warning in any venue must submit a reprt fr review. Safety First - Dgs that have been banned in any ther venue are nt eligible fr registratin. Physically Challenged Dgs Permanently Disabled Dgs Heart Dgs Permanently disabled dgs are eligible t participate in Wag It Games as Heart Dgs. Permanent disabilities may include but are nt limited t paralysis, missing limbs, deafness, blindness, arthritis, etc. Example f adjustments request: A request t have smene manage the persn s blind dg at the start line while the handler stands in the center f the search area t verbally cue his r her dg t search and t assist the dg in knwing the lcatin f the search area. Physically Challenged Handlers Mtrized scters, wheel chairs and mbility assistant devices such as walkers and canes are allwed. Any adjustments t exercises fr such devices shuld be requested under the Temprary Limitatin r Extrardinaire Handler categries. Handlers with Temprary Limitatins Handlers with temprary physical cnditins may submit an Exercise Adjustment frm t the judge t request minr adjustments t exercises. Permanently Disabled Handlers - Extrardinaire Handlers Permanently disabled handlers are eligible t participate in Wag It Games as Extrardinaire Handlers. Junirs Children 8 years f age and yunger may be assisted by the judge calling ut supprtive infrmatin while the team perfrms. Junirs qualify and place alng with ther teams. Training Runs Training is always welcme during curse perfrmance The handler may turn a perfrmance int a training run at any time t supprt the dg. Training runs may be planned r be spntaneus during a perfrmance. The handler is nt required t ntify the judge. Once the handler utilizes the ptins ffered in a training run, it is cnsidered a nn-qualifying perfrmance; hwever, the handler may cntinue t train up t the maximum curse time. Handlers may attempt any designated curse r perfrm selected exercise statins. Training runs allw the fllwing: The use f fd, tuch, praise is allwed. Tys may be brught int the ring fr a planned training run. Tys cannt be thrwn and cannt make any sund. Training runs d nt earn qualifying scres r placements. Sniff It Always Successful Plicy The dg is always ffered the pprtunity t make a successful find and earn a reward. In the event that the handler indicates an incrrect find, the perfrmance is cnsidered nn-qualifying; hwever, the dg is still ffered the pprtunity t succeed. The handler may direct his r her dg t cntinue the search. The handler may direct and/r assist the dg. The handler may ask the judge t disclse the crrect lcatin. The dg may cntinue t search fr the allwed curse time. Regular Classes Sniff It Identify and Sniff It Search classes are cnsidered regular classes. Regular classes have three levels and tw divisins. Titles fr regular classes are shwn in the Title Chart (fund n the Wag It Games website). Levels Wag It Games has a philsphy that if yu have trained fr it, yu may play it. There is n required level prgressin. Any and all levels may be entered at any time ffering the pprtunity t earn titles simultaneusly. There are three levels: Nvice, Entry level Skilled, Intermediate level Prficient, Advanced level WAG IT GAMES

7 Divisins A The A class is fr dgs that have nt yet earned any title in the class and level they are entering. B The B class is fr dgs that have earned a title in the class and level they are entering. Gymkhana Classes Gymkhana classes include the Pints Class and Challenge Class. There are n levels r A/B divisins. All teams take their turns n the same curse. Agility, Shadw, Obstacle and Dg Ball, Sniff and Water Gymkhana class qualifying runs are all tallied tgether fr Gymkhana titles. Gymkhana titles are shwn in the Title Chart (fund n the Wag It Games website) Judge s Class Officiating judges may participate in classes they are fficiating, but they must d s in the separate Judge s Class. The fficiating judge perfrms the same curse, under the same rules, but is fficiated by anther judge. This class may be held prir t the briefing, walk-thrugh r first participant. The fficiating judge is eligible fr qualifying scres twards titles, but is nt eligible fr placements. SCORING PLACEMENT AND RIBBONS Scring Sniff It Regular classes are Pass/Fail. Teams that are successful and within curse time earn a qualifying perfrmance. Gymkhana classes are pint based. Teams that earn the required pints within curse time earn a qualifying perfrmance. Placement Grupings Each class level is placed separately. A-divisin participants cmpete tgether. B-divisin participants cmpete tgether. Ties Teams finishing with the same time and/r pints will be cnsidered ties and be awarded the same placement. Time and/r pint requirements are defined in each class descriptin. Ribbns A ribbn ceremny will fllw each class. Ribbn placements are based n individual class rules. Qualifying scre and first thrugh third place ribbns will be awarded fr qualifying runs. Additinal ribbns and awards may be ffered at the discretin f the hst. Title ribbns will be awarded t thse earning titles. Title requirements are available in the Title Chart (fund n the Wag It Games website) Title Certificates Certificates fr titles earned are updated mnthly in the Wag It Games member area f the Wag It Games website. 8 TRIAL DETAILS Leashes and Cllars Dgs must enter and leave the ring n-leash. Leashes may be made f leather, fabric r crd. They may have embellishments such as beading. Retractable leashes are nt allwed in the ring r n shw grunds. Sniff It classes are generally perfrmed with the cllar n and the leash remved. (See Identify class descriptin regarding n-leash class ptin.) The leash may be handed t the judge r placed in a designated lcatin within the ring. Cllars may be flat buckle, snap r limited slip (martingale) cllars. Harnesses are allwed, but may nt be f a design t reduce pulling. Tags may be wrn. Training and/r crrectin cllars may nt be used. Prhibited cllars include but are nt limited t chke and prng cllars. Head halters may nt be used. Briefings A judge s briefing will precede each class. Entering the Ring Teams enter after the previus team has left the ring and the judge welcmes the team t enter. Distractins The trial setting is full f smells, sunds and distractins. Exhibitrs shuld prepare their dgs fr the trial envirnment. Minr accmmdatins, such as turning ff music r setting a heating system t nt cme n during a run, may be ffered. Significant accmmdatins fr individual dgs will nt be ffered. Timing Timing is recrded in secnds. In the event there is a timing failure, the team will be ffered a chice f accepting the maximum curse time r re-running the curse at the end f that class. Start The timer r the judge will ntify the handler when he/she may begin. Timing and scring will begin as the dg crsses the start line. Finish Timing and scring cnclude when the handler raises his/her hand t indicate he/she believes the dg has made a crrect find. Teams may be asked t leave the ring when curse time has expired. RING SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Sniff It Ring Specificatins Ring size minimum is 500 square feet. WAG IT GAMES

9 Surfaces Trials may be held indrs r utdrs. The ring shall have safe fting and be free f debris and hazards. If the trial is held inside, the flring must nt be slippery. If utdrs, the grass must be shrt and the grund level. Fence and Gates Rings must be fully fenced. Fencing must be a minimum f 2 feet tall and may be a maximum f 6 inches ff the grund. Dg shw expandable gates, PVC lattice and snw r mesh fencing are acceptable. Rping is NOT acceptable. Clsed Ring Gate Plicy Ring gates will be clsed during all perfrmances. N dg will enter the ring until previus dg has left the ring and the judge has invited the next handler and dg team int the ring. SAFETY AND BEHAVIOR Persnal Space Handlers shuld be bservant f their dgs at all times and nt put pressure n ther dgs by greeting, sniffing r encraching n anther dg s persnal space. Aggressin In the event the hst, fficiating judge r fficial feels that any dg s r handler s behavir threatens the safety f the shw grunds, the handler and dg will be directed t leave the shw grunds. Unsprtsmanlike Behavir Wag It Games are intended t be fun fr everyne, handlers and dgs alike. Exhibitrs and spectatrs are expected t display gd sprtsmanship, and respect and supprt fr each ther and their dgs. Any persn acting in an unsprtsmanlike manner may be asked t leave the grunds. Harsh Crrectins Harsh crrectins are nt allwed in the ring r n the grunds. A harsh crrectin is ne that results in a strng negative respnse frm the dg r ffends the sensibility f the judge. In the event harsh crrectins are bserved and depending n the severity, a warning may be issued r the parties invlved may be asked t leave the grunds. Incident Reprt In the event f an incident, a reprt will be submitted t Wag It Inc. fr review. PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES The Hide The handler will turn away frm the search area while the scent cntainers/articles are placed n the curse. The handler will prevent the dg frm bserving the placement f the scent item(s) n the curse. Entering the Ring Teams may enter the ring nly when welcmed by the judge. WAG IT GAMES

10 Starting the Curse There is n required psitin (example: sit, dwn, stand, mving) frm which the dg must start. Signals/Cues The handler may cue the dg verbally r with a visual signal t begin r cntinue searching thrughut the perfrmance. The handler may NOT use visual r verbal signals that direct the dg in any directin r t scent item(s). Rewarding Handlers may nt enter the ring with fd anywhere except cncealed within their pckets. Fd rewards may be remved frm the pcket and delivered as described belw. Prir t Start Handlers may ffer fd rewards, tuch rewards r briefly play with their dgs prir t passing the start sign. During the Curse Perfrmance N rewards may be delivered during the search perfrmance Upn Cmpletin f the find Handlers may reward their dg in the ring at the find lcatin. Fd, tuch and/r play rewards may be ffered. The fd may be delivered directly frm the fund cntainer r delivered frm their hand. Fd may never be placed nt the flr. Tuching the Dg Handlers may nt intentinally tuch their dgs during the perfrmance. Intentinally tuching the dg ther will result in a nn-qualifying scre. Luring N appearance f luring is allwed at any time while the team is in the ring. Luring is defined as creating the appearance and r creating the impressin that fd is being held in rder t direct the dg in any way. Retries Retries are nt ffered in Sniff It Classes Mulligans Mulligans are nt ffered in Regular r Gymkhana Sniff It Classes Mulligans may be ffered in Sniff It Gymkhana classes per the class descriptin. Signs Signs are nt used in Regular Sniff It Classes Signs may be used in Sniff It Gymkhana classes per the class descriptin. WAG IT GAMES

Perfrmance The handler will prvide a scent cntainer hlding a few bits f fd in it. The handler is encuraged t have the dg sniff the scent cntainer, s, the dg knws what scent t lcate. The handler will deliver the scent cntainer t the judge r designated steward. The handler and dg will turn away frm the search area r the hide. The judge r steward will replace ne f the 10 clean cntainers n the curse with the cntainer presented by the handler. The judge will indicate t the handler when the search may begin. The handler will direct the dg t search. The handler may mve abut, fllw the dg and/r ffer general cues r encuragement, but may nt in any way direct the dg in any particular directin r t any particular lcatin. The handler will raise a hand when he/she feels the dg has successfully fund a scented item. The judge will immediately annunce if the search was crrect r incrrect. The handler may reward the dg. Curse Time One minute Identify Nvice Class Requirements T qualify the handler must indicate ne crrect find within the curse time. Placements Placements will be based n time. 12 Sniff It Nvice Level Scent Cntainers 10 identical paque scent cntainers with cvers will be used. Cntainer Requirements Each clean cntainer will cntain ne t three small items that resemble a few bits f fd (example: pencil erasers). Cntainers may be plastic r metal. Cntainers shall be between 3 and 4 inches in diameter, r f similar size yet rectangular r square. Cntainers will be between 1.5 and 3 inches tall. Each cntainer will cntain ne r mre identical hles in their lids t allw fr scent t flw thrugh. Cntainers shuld be f a size that dgs are nt likely t ingest it in the event they pick it up and chew n it. Examples f Scent Cntainers fr Identify Nvice Level (hles drilled thrugh lids) Metal tins with screw lids Plastic sap dishes Alternative Use f Odr Cntainers At the nvice level, hsts may pt t allw the use f drs that are used in ther scent wrk sprts. The hst may require the handler t supply his/her wn drs and/r scent cntainers. Optin A: The hst may request the handler t prvide ne dr cntainer that is identical t the cntainers used by the hst. Optin B: The hst may request the handler prvide 10 identical cntainers that meet the Sniff It Nvice cntainer requirements. Odrs Allwed Sweet Birch Essential il Btanical name Betula lenta Anise Seed Essential il Btanical name Pimpinella anisum Clve Essential il Btanical name Syzygium armaticumn Odr Preparatin Suggestins Odr will be n 1-inch lng cttn swab tips prepared as fllwed. Fr every 50 tips, 3 drps f a single essential il will be added t the jar. The jar will be clsed and shaken t distribute the il and scent. The prepared swabs will remain in the sealed jar fr a minimum f 24 hurs, but n mre than 2 weeks. Sniff It Identify - Nvice Level Curse Set Up 10 scent cntainers will be placed a distance f apprximately 5 feet apart in the pattern shwn belw. Cntainer Requirements Each cntainer will have ne clean scent pad within it. Cntainers shall be between 3 and 4 inches in diameter, r be f similar size yet square. Cntainers will be between 1.5 and 3 inches tall. Cntainers will have pen tps. Cntainers shuld be f a size that dgs are nt likely t ingest it in the event they pick it up and chew n it. One f each type f article will have the handler s scent n it. The handler is encuraged t have the dg sniff the scented articles, s, the dg knws what scent t lcate. The handler will deliver the clean and scented articles separately t the judge r steward. The handler and dg will turn away frm the search area fr the hide.
