21 SECTION I - HOME PRODUCE Steward: India Wroth Judy Rowston Entries Close: Noon on Saturday 29 September ALL EXHIBITS TO PAVILION FRIDAY 5 October BETWEEN 11am - 3pm. Judging will take place at 3.30pm Friday 5 October All exhibits to be the work of the named exhibitor. Jars and bottles to be labelled with contents and date made. Labels to be no larger than 50mm x 25mm. Uniform sized jars to be used in collection classes 281, 295, 306, 311. Only clear glass jars to be used. Jars and bottles to be free of manufacturer s markings. Avoid using lids from pickle jars or other strong flavoured preserves. Full jam jars to be no further than 1cm from top of the jar. Please do not put fabric covers on jar lids. Consistency and flavour and colour gain points. With marmalade, jam should be clear and fruit cut finely and distributed evenly throughout bottle. Eggs to be cleaned but not washed. They will be judged on uniformity of size and colour. Class to be exhibited in egg carton. Class 280 to be exhibited in small basket. Allow to cool, then beat the eggs slightly and stir into the fruit mixture. Sift together the flours, mixed spice and soda and fold into the mixture. Place mixture in a round cake tin (18-20cm diam) which has been lined with two thicknesses of grease proof paper. Bake in moderate oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Cover when cooked and leave to cool in tin until completely cold. 62

50 Class President's Favourite Recipe Lemon Syrup Cake To be made to the following recipe: Ingredients 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind 200g butter 1 cup sugar ¾ cup milk 3 eggs 2 ½ cups SR flour Pinch of salt Method Combine lemon rind, butter and sugar, and microwave to melt the butter. Combine milk and eggs and beat gently. Sift flour and salt. Add half of the egg/milk mixture and half of the flour to the melted butter/sugar/lemon rind. Mix well. Then add remaining egg/milk and flour. Mix well. Cook in a greased 20cm ring tin for approx. 40 minutes at 170c. Syrup: After turning cake out onto a plate combine ½ cup lemon juice and ½ cup of sugar, warm in microwave to dissolve sugar and then pour over cake while hot.
