5 EUROSTARS EXPLAINED Lambplus is the new sheep performance scheme being serviced by Sheep Ireland the sheep section of ICBF. At the present time it evaluates sheep on three traits that relate to profitability in sheep. They are Meat Production, Maternal and Lambing. They are measured in Eurostars. Eurostars help give an instant indication as to where an index for a particular animal places it compared to all other animals within its breed. ***** 5 stars : top 20% **** 4 stars : top 60-80% *** 3 stars : 40-60% ** 2 stars : bottom 20-40% * 1star : bottom 20% Guidelines about how to use the Eurostars Ram Purchasers should: 1. Identify what aspects of their flocks performance they would like the ram to improve in their flock i.e. Production, Maternal, Lambing Sub-Index. 2. Select those rams that have at least 4 Eurostars for the desired Sub-Index(s). 3. Pay attention to the Accuracy % of the Eurostars at all times. 4. The selected Ram should of course meet with the Purchaser s requirements from a visual viewpoint. 5. The Eurostar figures should be used as a tool to help in the selection process. 14 CONDITIONS OF SALE 1. The highest bidder to be the purchaser, subject to paragraph 5. If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute to be put up again and re-sold, or the auctioneer may declare the purchaser. 2. Purchasers to give their names and places of abode, and pay a deposit of 20% in part payment for each lot, or the whole of the purchase money, immediately upon the fall of the hammer if required. 3. All lots to be cleared away at the buyer s expense at the close of the sale, to be at the risk of the purchasers from the time the lot is sold, and to be taken with all faults and errors of description. 4. Purchasers at this sale not complying with the above conditions, will be subject, without further notice, to have their lots re-sold, whether by public auction or by private contract, the deposit money will be forfeited, and any deficiency, with all expenses attending such re-sale, to be made good by the defaulters at this present sale. 5. No Rams to be sold at less than 250, and no Ewe will be sold at less than 200. Buyers will be charged a fee of 5% of the sale price. 6. The sellers and the auctioneers have described the sheep to the best of their ability and knowledge, and any express or implied conditions, warranty or representation statutory or otherwise howsoever, whether as to the capabilities of the sheep for stock or otherwise, is hereby excluded. 9. All animals are sold as they stand and the purchaser is deemed to have examined each animal and fully satisfied himself/herself about the animal prior to sale. 10. Rams will be sold in the order in which they appear in the Catalogue, saving the Champion and the Reserve Champion. 11. All lots are on the Market from 1st bid when the Auctioneer s hammer falls, the vendor may refuse or accept the final bid. No further bids are allowed. IMPORTANT: The sales inspectors will inspect all entries and cull any sheep which, in their opinion, have been brushed or trimmed save for squaring of the tail as well as sheep incorrectly tattooed. Culled sheep may not go through the ring. All sheep passing the pre-sale inspection must be put through sales ring, unless the sheep is obviously unwell
