Help spread the wrd abut the Mntgmery Cunty Animal Services and Adptin Center (MCASAC) thrughut the cmmunity by sharing ur prmtinal flyers and infrmatin cards t stres and ask if they can be displayed and update them regularly. 2. Becme A Fster Hme. This is an pprtunity fr parents that want t intrduce animal care t their children. We realize this is nt always pssible fr all families but if it is, it is a great value t the children! The parents wuld have t cmplete a limited backgrund check and fill ut all paperwrk, but the kids culd help with the respnsibility. This is a great way t have peple fster the animals, and get them ut f the shelter envirnment. We prvide the supplies and veterinary care during their time in fster. Fr mre infrmatin, visit ur website. 3. Help prmte MCASAC and ur hmeless animals by regularly sharing ur psts n Scial Media. We are n Facebk, Instagram, and Twitter. 4. Make a presentatin at yur schl, cmmunity grup, rganizatin, etc. abut Mntgmery Cunty Animal Services and Adptin Center 5. Bake Sale/Lemnade Stand/Car Wash/Cin Drive. MCASAC can accept dnatins n behalf f the animals in ur care. Be creative! These ideas can be used fr individual vlunteers r grups. Yu can d this right in yur wn yard, r cnsider ding it at a sprts event, schl, r any ther cmmunity area. Just make sure yu get permissin! 6. Hld a Wish List Drive. Find ut what supplies are needed by adptin center and hld a wish list drive t cllect thse items. Advertise at yur schl (with permissin) r in yur neighbrhd and find a designated area t cllect items. Get a few representatives t take the supplies t adptin center and see the animals wh will benefit frm yur hard wrk. Yu can als d specific drives such as a used twel drive r ty drive. 7. Kids! Hld an animal-themed birthday party! Find a lcatin that hsts parties r hld a party at hme with fun animal-themed activities. Cllect items ff f the wishlist frm guests r make hand-crafted cat r dg tys! (See suggested list f items) 8. Reprt. Call MCASAC if yu see any animal in distress. Our field services fficers respnd t hundreds f reprts f cruelty and neglect each year. A simple call can make a huge difference in the lives f animals. 9. Yung peple! Animals dn't have a vice t let peple knw when they are in pain, sad, frustrated r scared. If yu'd like t be a vice fr animals, gather sme friends tgether t talk abut frming a MCASAC Schl Club. 10. CRINKLE BOTTLES (FOR DOGS) What better than a dg ty that makes nise?! Crinkly bttles prvide lts f entertainment fr ur shelter dgs, allwing them t Water bttles Tube scks Nn Txic markers Cllect multiple empty, clean water bttles withut their lids. Cllect multiple new tube/crew scks r unstained, unhly gently used scks. Decrate scks as desired using permanent nn-txic markers. Stuff ne water bttle int each sck. D nt add dg fd r treats, as we dn t want ur dgs accidentally ingesting the scks r bttle bits. TENNIS BALL DUMBELLS (FOR DOGS) Tube scks Tennis balls Cllect multiple new tube/crew scks r unstained, unhly gently used scks. Cllect multiple tennis balls. Stuff a ball int a sck, tie a knt as clse as t the ball as pssible. Stuff anther ball int same sck, and tie anther knt. Decrate scks as desired using permanent nn - txic markers. The best size is at least 5/16 rund (any smaller and they will break t easily). If yu buy 36 lng dwels, yu can cut them int three even pieces, abut 12 lng. Take 1-3 strips f Plar fleece, abut an inch in diameter, and abut a ft lng nce stretched. Please d nt use any mre than three strips f Plar fleece. Take abut 6 inches f duct tape r electrical tape and secure the Plar fleece strips t the end f ne dwel. Duct and electrical tape nw cmes in many different clrs and patterns, but plain wrks just fine. Be sure t begin the tape n the wd, and tighten as yu g t secure the Plar fleece strips. Please d nt use ribbn r string in place f Plar fleece. Smetimes ur kitties will smetimes ingest these prducts which is nt safe. CATNIP HAPPY SOCKS and KICKAROO SOCKS (FOR CATS) Here is a link t help yu get started. Hlding a sectin f newspaper with the fld face - up/pen edge face - dwn and tearing straight dwn wrks fr a clean shred. Shreds shuld be abut ¼ inch wide r s. Yu may als shred phne bks. Stuff tubes with shredded newspapers r shredded phnebk until the tube is full. Paper shuld dangle frm bth ends. 3

7 PING PONG BALL DECORATING (FOR CATS & KITTENS) Ping png balls Nntxic markers Cats and kittens lve ping png balls t play with, and they are s easy fr us t disinfect! Cllect ping png balls. Decrate! Yu can be as creative as yu wuld like. Please use permanent, nn - txic markers (Sharpie markers are nn - txic and cme in many clrs). KURANDA CAT BED COVERS (FOR CATS) t-shirts nn-txic markers Our new Kuranda cat beds are great but they are in need f a sft cvering. T make cat bed cvers, use a new r gently used white/plain clred t-shirt (Men s size medium r large). Décr ate the shirt(s) with Sharpies (make sure t put a piece f cardbard in between the shirt as t nt get sharpie n yur table). Once yu have finished decrating the shirt, yu are dne! KITTY BAT CAVES Cllect reusable grcery bags and newspaper. Line the inside f a bag n all sides with a few sheets f newspaper. Insert secnd bag t nest n tp f the paper in the first bag. Cut all handles in half. Tie handle f uter bag t crrespnding handle f inner bag t keep bags tgether. Bags shuld still pen, as ne, s kitty can climb in and play. 4

Yu can als push strips f newspaper int the braid fr ur cats and rabbits t play with. Yu can make varius sizes fr dgs. The dimensins abve are general, but since we will need tys fr all breeds f dgs, Chihuahua t Great Dane, yu can make minis r jumbs r extra thin r super thick. BUNNY HABITATS Crrugated cardbard bxes Cllect clean crrugated cardbard bxes apprximately 18 lng x12 high x 12 deep. A few inches smaller r larger will be fine as we have many different sized rabbits. We ffer guided turs f the Adptin Center t grups during ur peratinal hurs: Mnday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday...12 p.m. t 7 p.m. (last tur scheduled fr 6 p.m.) Saturday and Sunday...12 p.m. t 5 p.m. (last tur scheduled fr 4 p.m.) Clsed n Wednesdays and majr hlidays In ur turs, grups have the pprtunity t learn abut the services the Mntgmery Cunty Animal Services and Adptin Center ffers and als see the animals wh are waiting fr their frever families. Turs typically last abut minutes. Because f safety and health cncerns, we d nt ffer direct cntact with ur animals. Sme grups chse t supprt ur shelter animals by cllecting items frm ur wish-list.
