2 AVPFS Winter Show This is an open show for members and non members of AVPFS. The show is to be held under poultry club rules. Please read show rules and regulations and Bio security information at the end of the booklet. You do not need to be a member of a breed club to enter their show. Entry Fees are: 1.50 Poultry Class (including Trios, Geese & Turkeys) 50p Egg Class Entries close on Wednesday 9 th January Entries will be closed prior if capacity is met. Important times: We will be at the venue from 7:30am, and penning allowed from 8am. All birds must be in cages and exhibitors out of the cages area for judging to commence at 9:30am. Prize Giving will be around 2:30pm. Birds can be boxed at 3:00pm. Birds can be removed from building at 3:15pm once everybody has agreed they are ok with boxing. Parking Exhibitors will be able to park outside the building to unload, and then park in the adjoining carpark 50m away with space for over 200 cars. As this is hosted directly by us there is no car passes or entry tickets as per our 3 other events. Maps will be included with entry confirmation.

4 Judges Robin Ramus Craig Ramus Lee Grant Hard Feather Joshua Kittle Pekin Regional Officials Welfare Officer Jan Pannell Venue Unlike our 3 other shows held in warmer months, we will be using the Stockmans building at the South of England Showground. The building has over 420m² of space, consisting of a 240m² room where we are showing Poultry, and 120m² seating area with kitchen attached for exhibitors to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea, and some lunch. Food and Drink Food and drink will be available on the day. The nearest cashpoint is a 15minute drive so please bring cash if you would like to purchase anything. Snacks will be available all day with pre ordered meals which can be booked with entries. There will be limited meals available on the day for those who do not book. Snacks Bacon Roll Crisps Selection of Cakes Drinks Tea Coffee Cans Bottled Water If you wish to go out for lunch there are two local pubs, The Gardeners Arms 0.2mile from the hall, The Ardingly Inn 1mile. Booking will most likely be necessary if you plan to visit one of these. You will also only be a 15minute drive from Haywards Heath where there are various shops and places to get some food.

5 Raffle We will be holding a raffle again this year, any prizes from exhibitors would be much appreciated. Tickets will be sold on the day and drawn with Prize giving in the afternoon. Sponsors & Trophies We are aware after all the time you put into a bird that when you finally get on championship row, and win, the first thing on your mind... is what have I won? Unfortunately, trophies do not grow on trees and we are unable to fund them all in one go. We are lucky to have exhibitors sponsor us some trophies, and the best bit? 10 Bio Security for Poultry Gatherings Participants Specific biosecurity advice for participants Participants must familiarise themselves with the symptoms of Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease and other notifiable diseases and should take all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of spread of such diseases through adopting proactive biosecurity measures including, but not limited to: Minimise the movement of birds between enclosures, and between sites Ensure clean footwear before and after visits, and between sites Take steps to deter wild birds, particularly waterfowl Feed and water birds under cover and remove any spillages Execute an effective programme of vermin control Maintain good cleanliness and hygiene, regularly disinfect hard areas Secure poultry enclosures with appropriate fencing to deter wild birds Use of disinfectant mats or foot dips between buildings Before you leave your premises to attend a poultry gathering If your premises are within an area of the UK which is under restrictions relating to notifiable avian disease (including Protection and Surveillance Zones), you are not permitted to attend gatherings. All participants must inspect the health of all birds at the place of origin before departure. Do not move birds if there are any signs, or suspicion of any disease. All participants must prepare clean solid bottom and sided carriers to transport birds. All participants must use clean bedding material at the start of the journey, on the date of departure, which must be contained within the carrier at all times. Further details will be included with entry passes, as well as declaration forms. Show Rules AVPFS Shows are held under PCGB Rules and exhibitors making entries agree to be bound by such rules. This applies to PCGB and non PCGB members (copies available on their website here) In addition to PCGB rules the following rules also apply; Shows will be held under any DEFRA Regulations in place at the time of event. All exhibits must be penned/displayed by the times stated in the schedule and no exhibitors removed prior to the stated time. No Exhibitor may engage in conversation with the any Judges or Judges Stewards on the day of the show prior to the completion of all judging. Exhibitors caught ignoring this may be subject to disqualification. Where there is a class for male and female of the same breed, we (AVPFS) reserve the rights to amalgamate if insufficient numbers. Duplicated entries will not be accepted. Rosettes will only be awarded if 3 or more exhibits are entered in a class. All birds must have been bona fide property of the exhibitor for at least 28 days prior to the show. All birds must comply with any DEFRA regulations in force at the time of the show and be transported in line with current welfare regulations. We reserve the right to remove or exclude any birds considered unhealthy. Pen numbers will be given on day of show.
