Check or money order for entry fees must accompany application for entries. Entry Fee: $3.00 per bird. Entry fees will not be refunded unless cancellation is made in writing and received prior to closing entry date October 10, SPECIAL ATTENTION IS CALLED TO THE GENERAL RULES GOVERNING THE EXHIBIT OF LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY IN THIS DIVISION. All rules, regulations, premium offerings, etc., appearing in this catalog are subject to correction in event of any printing errors that would tend to change the meaning or intent. Use the OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM WITHIN THIS WEBSITE. Make sure all information is given as to variety and sex of each bird and all information on the front of entry form is filled out in full. Incomplete entry forms will be rejected and returned! COOP-IN TIME Show room will be open: Thursday, October 26, from 8:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. After these times show room will be locked and no one will be allowed to enter.

2 ALL BIRDS MUST BE COOPED BY 10:00 Noon SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29, Pre-register for showmanship classes at coop-in with the superintendent in the Poultry Office. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES AT COOP-IN! SHOW RULES All entries in the poultry division are subject to the General Rules printed in this catalog, except as herein noted. THE AMERICAN STANDARD OF PERFECTION shall be the guide of the judges in awarding premiums; all entries to be judged by comparison. EACH EXHIBITOR MUST SHOW THEIR OWN ANIMAL. If not able to show their own animal by reason of sickness, temporary physical handicap or by reason of exhibiting more than one animal, then he must have a bona fide 4-H Club member or FFA member to show in their place; and the owner must show his own animal in all of the championship classes in which he is eligible to show, except due to illness or physical handicap or having more than one animal in the championship class. In this event, the person showing in the preliminaries must show in championship class. You must notify State Fair Livestock Manager in writing prior to show date. 1. Entries will be accepted and premiums paid on all worthy specimens of standard breeds as listed in the premium list, PROVIDED THERE ARE THREE OR MORE ENTRIES IN EACH CLASS. Exhibitors may exhibit no more than three cocks, three hens, three cockerels, three pullets of any one breed. 2. Entry application must state the type (bantam or standard bred), and variety for appropriate sex correctly to be able to show. No bird substitutions or changes will be made at the show. 3. The State Fair of Louisiana will not be responsible for any loss that may occur from any cause. 4. All exhibits must be entered in the name of the actual owner. 5. All birds must be worthy of exhibit before they will be allowed in the show room. 6. Birds showing signs of colds or disease will not be allowed in the show room. Sick birds will be moved immediately and not considered for awards, and the exhibitor's entire fee may be refused by the State Fair. Refer to STATE HEALTH REGULATIONS ELSEWHERE IN THIS CATALOG. 7. No coops or room will be furnished for birds not on exhibition. 8. Bantams will be cooped, if necessary, three birds to standard exhibition coop. No two exhibitors will have birds in the same coop. 9. The State Fair of Louisiana reserves the right to refuse entries for any reason deemed proper. 10. Birds can only compete in classes for which they are entered. 11. ALL BIRDS MUST BE LEG BANDED AND THE BAND NUMBER STATED ON THE COOP TAG. 12. Birds unavoidably detained through no fault of the exhibitor may be accepted or refused at the option of the management.

The following definitions will apply to all exhibits in this department: single bird : a cock, a hen, a cockerel, a pullet cock: a male bird twelve months old or older hen : a female bird twelve months old or older pullet : a female bird under twelve months old cockerel : a male bird under twelve months old INDIVIDUAL CLASS: Class shall consist of all birds of one sex--age group of one breed. Must have same sex birds in each pen 14. Possession date for birds is August 1, Each exhibitor is expected to feed and water his or her own birds. Any birds left unattended during the Poultry show will be removed from competition at the discretion of the State Fair of Louisiana Livestock Manager. 16. Showmanship birds must be entered in the show to qualify for showmanship NEW RULE: Exhibitors must be present during the exhibition poultry show in order to be eligible for awards and premium money.
