4 Baileys Sheep Making Headlines in Quality Breeds Success! Edinburgh 2010 Supreme Champion was a Baileys Bacchus sired lamb from J C Douglas of Cairness Renovator ewe which sold for 5,000gns. Northern Area Branch Suffolk Sale at Stirling July 2011 Son of Baileys BMW sold for 14,000gns. Claude Vanwinsberghe of Belgium purchased for 14,000gns the top ram lamb a son of Baileys BMW who described the lamb as being very correct and with plenty of carcase. A son of Baileys Brigadier the second and another son of Baileys BMW were sold for 8,000gns. First Prize Group of Three and Reserve Overall Champion which sold for 7,000gns was a son of Baileys BMW out of a ewe by Cairness First Flight. The first Rhaeadr lamb in the ring and 2nd Open prize winner by Baileys Brigadier the Second sold at gns 4,500. 2

5 South of Ireland Branch 124th Anniversary Show & Sale Roscrea 6th August 2011 Supreme Champion and winner of the Novice & Open Ram Classes was sired by Cairness New Approach and sold for 5,000gns. The 2nd highest price of gns 10,000 was achieved for a ram lamb by Cairness Liam and was purchased by Jimmy Douglas of Aberdeenshire. This lamb was highly sought after as he is a full brother to the 90,000gns sold at Stirling Group of Three Ram Lambs 1st Prize won by Baileys Flock with lambs selling for 3,200gns, 4,000gns & 1,700 respectively Top Average at sale Baileys Flock 2,793gns for five lambs. Carlisle & Northern Counties Society Show Sale Aug 2011 Topping the sale at 2,400gns was Rhaeadr Nadal, a son of Baileys Blockbuster and out of a Whitestone Washington bred mother. He was champion stock ram in the West & Central Club competition The first prize untrimmed lamb and Reserve Overall Champion was a son of the 2010 Edinburgh Champion Baileys Bacchus and sold for 1,600gns. 9 Carragh Flock Foreword The Carragh Flock was established in 1993 with the purchase of 8 ewe lambs from the Ballyturn flock. Over the years the flock has grown from strength to strength. Top quality stock has been purchased from top flocks in Ireland and Scotland, mainly Cairirness, Muiresk, Strathisla, Solwaybank, Ewe Bank and Baileys flock. J53:X106 was purchased privately for 14,600 from the Strathisla flock, she was twice RHAS champion and ET d within the flock yearly. FHT:A58 was purchased from Solwaybank flock and went on to breed Carragh Unique, he won first prize in the novice class, first prize in the open ram lamb class and went on to win the reserve male champion at the national championship He was top prize ram lamb at the Premier Show and Sale at Roscrea 2006 selling for 7,200. Carragh flock had top average that day. The flock has enjoyed success in shows and sales, both local and countrywide. The Carragh flock was winner of the South of Ireland flock competition 2006 and Carness Centra and Carragh Fusion were tha winners of best stock rams in the same completion. The West of Ireland club championships have been run for the last 5 years with the Carragh flock being Champion twice and Reserve twice. In 2007, Baileys Masterpiece was purchased privately and has been used extensively in the flock. He has bred the first prize winner in the ewe lamb class in the West of Ireland championship and first in the South of Ireland championship, and sold in the premier sale at Roscrea for the top price female on the day for 4,600. There are three full sisters of this lamb in the sale. He is a ram with a lot of style and character. Two ET brothers were sold in Edinburgh for 6,000gns stg, and 3,500gns stg. Masterpiece bred HOL:K41 which was first prize ewe lamb NSC 2008, sold in Roscrea Premier sale for 4,200gns to Solwaybank Suffolks. There are 3 full sisters to K41 in the sale was a very successful year for Baileys Masterpiece. He bred ram lambs which sold for 2,900gns, 1,100gns, 750gns, 720gns and also a ewe lamb sold for 1,100gns. That year he also became home bred Sire of the Year. Baileys Masterpiece has left his mark on the Carragh flock. Some of the best ewes in the sale are by Masterpiece, with some of the ewes in lamb to him. This family has bred ram lambs to 7,200 and is the same family as Solwaybanks famous ewe Z29, which was unbeaten in the show rings. 14 DeBurca Foreword The Deburca Suffolk Flock was established in 2003 with foundation stock purchased from long established flocks across Ireland. Since then we have purchased in-lamb ewes from the top flocks throughout Ireland, England and Scotland. With the use of ET we are in the position to offer top pedigree Suffolk stock for sale. Show Success Over the years we have won numerous prizes in the show ring. In the west of Ireland in 2006 we had 4 firsts with the champion and reserve champion in the beginners class on the same day. We had a first in the Corrandulla Show with a ram lamb by Bawnogue Beaugatti and when Roscrea Sale came along a full brother came second in the novice class. We entered the West of Ireland Club Championships in Corrandulla in 2007 and had success with 3 firsts. The same year we entered the South of Ireland National Championship Competition where we had a first in the hogget ram or older class won by a stock ram Carragh Casper a son of Glenho Glanza. Just as we taught the year could not get any better we won the Novice Ram Lamb Class in Roscrea show and sale with Deburca Bounty. In 2009 we had the Champion Ram Lamb, Male Champion and overall Reserve Champion Deburca Deezer an excellent ram with excellent pedigree and one of our main stock rams. All hoggets in the sale are out of him. Flock Competition The Deburca flock entered the flock competition in 2006 and 2007 with great success. The first year we came first in the 0-30 group and also won the Best New Entrant. In the second year we moved up a group to the and came second. After much consideration, I have decided to reduce the flock to a manageable 25 ewes this is due to family, work and football commitments. We enjoy having pedigree sheep and looking forward to our next crop of lambs every spring, always hoping for that elusive champion to arrive. 12

49 Auctioneers Conditions of Sale 1. The stock will be exposed according to the lots and numbers in the following Catalogue, and the highest offer on each lot will be preferred to the purchaser. 2. The pedigree and description of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as a warranty and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description. 3. All animals are at the risk of the vendor before sale and at the risk of the purchaser after the sale. 4. The service dates, while believed to be correct, cannot however, be guaranteed. 5. The auctioneer reserves the right to accept bids from a vendor and they reserve on behalf of themselves and of the vendor the following rights: a) To fix a reserve price. b) To bid on behalf of a vendor. c) To rearrange, consolidate or withdraw any lots or vary the order of sale and d) without giving any reason therefore, to refuse to accept the bids of any person. 6. All sheep will be sold in euro ( ) gns. Auctioneers fee of 5% of the sale price is payable by the purchaser. 7. The person making the highest accepted bid shall be the purchaser. 8. No bid shall be retracted. 9. The purchaser shall, if and when required, give his name and address to the Auctioneers, and shall if required, pay to the Auctioneers the purchase money for each lot at the fall of the hammer, or so soon thereafter as the Auctioneer may require. 11. Purchasers paying by cheque must be prepared, if required, to produce a bankers reference. 12. No lots shall be removed from the sale premises until a written delivery order has been given by or on behalf of the Auctioneers. 13. Each lot shall, at the purchaser s expense, be removed from the sale premises with a reasonable time after the close of the day s sale. 14. All statements in the catalogue or made by the Auctioneer at the time of sale relating to any animal are believed to be correct. No sale shall be invalidated by reason of any defect or faults in any of the animals by reason of any of the animals being incorrectly described in the catalogue, or by the Auctioneer in the ring, and no compensation whatever shall be paid in respect of any such faults or errors of description. 15. All lots are sold as having been scanned in-lamb unless otherwise stated. No guarantee beyond that date can however, be given in this regard. 16. All animals are sold as they stand, the Purchaser is deemed to have examined each animal and fully satisfied himself about the animal prior to sale. 17. All suffolks in this sale are fully registered and eligible for immediate transfer into any Suffolk flock. Registration certificates will be given with all purchases. 18.
