4 Show Safety Tyrone Farming Society will operate a Code of Safety Practice to ensure that animals are confined to designated areas and kept under supervision at all times. It is essential that visitors share safety responsibility and that they respond by playing their part in keeping children at a safe distance from all animals and machinery. Total commitment to safety from competitors, exhibitors and visitors and their co-operation with the Stewards will ensure that there is no accident or mishap to spoil their enjoyment and the success of the Show. Whilst every care is taken in the organisation of the Omagh Show, the Tyrone Farming Society cannot accept any liability whatsoever for any accident, injury or loss sustained by any person attending the Show in any capacity, however caused. THE ULSTER HERALD has kindly donated 150 to the Schools Section. THE SARAH WILSON MEMORIAL PERPETUAL CUP and the Prize Fund for the Special Needs Section have been very kindly sponsored by Stanley and Helen Wilson, in memory of their daughter, Sarah. 9 HORTICULTURAL AND HOME INDUSTRIES Points in each Class are awarded as follows: 3 for 1 st, 2 for 2 nd, 1 for 3 rd RULES 1 The Competition in this Section will be OPEN unless where otherwise specified. 2 ALL ENTRIES MUST BE THE WORK OF THE EXHIBITOR. 3 A competitor may enter any number of exhibits in any one Class but no competitor may gain more than one award in any one Class. 4 Reasonable care will be taken of all articles exhibited, but the Society will not be accountable for any loss, damage, or injury that may occur to any exhibit or personal property before, during or after the Show. The Society will take a serious view of persons seen to be tampering with exhibits and will deal with them accordingly. 5 All people entering the Exhibition Hall are subject to the direction of all Stewards or Secretary. 6 Dogs must be on leads at all times in Home Industries Marquee. 7 No person will be permitted to interfere with or crowd round the Judge when adjudicating. Exhibitors so doing will forfeit all claims to prizes. 8 The decision of the Judges as to the merits of exhibits shall in all cases be final. Objections to a Competitor on the ground that he/she is not qualified to enter in a certain class will be considered if lodged in writing with the Secretary, together with a fee of 10.00, at or before 3 00 o clock on Saturday. This fee will be returned if a valid objection is sustained; otherwise it will be forfeited to Funds of Show. 9 Should any matter arise not provided for in the purview of these Rules and Regulations, such matter shall be referred to the Committee, whose decision shall be final and binding, no appeal to law in any case being permitted. 10 The Exhibition Hall will be opened, and allocated space will be ready for exhibitors to begin staging on Friday, 6 July 2018, 4 00 pm 8 30 pm. 11 Prize money may be collected by 4 30 pm on Saturday, at the Home Industries Stand. All prize money not collected within 3 months of Show day will be returned to Tyrone Farming Society s Funds. Exhibits may be collected after 4 30 pm and no later than 6 00 pm. 9

10 THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION AND BALLYSHANNON AGRICULTURAL SHOW PRESENT RULES AND CONDITIONS The All-Ireland Traditional Handmade Craft Final Sponsored by: Magee All Items must be sole work of the exhibitor. 2 Each exhibit must consist of 1 Article from point A plus 1 other article from points B, C or D, making a total of 2 Articles: (A) Any article using Tweed, eg, Picture, Max Size 18 x 16, Cushion, Min Size 16 x 16 Max Size 18 x 18 ; or Skirt, Adult size only, (this Item is obligatory). (B) Any article in Coloured or Self Coloured Embroidery made in the current year. (C) Hand Knit Cardigan, Lumber Jacket or Jumper, Adult Size only. (D) Any article in Cotton Crochet using no thicker than No 20 Cotton Thread. 3 All of the above to be made in the current year. 4 The items to be displayed as one exhibit. 5 Any Item the Judge feels is produced by any other method other than hand shall be disqualified. 6 A special class will be held at each qualifying show. 7 One entry may qualify from each qualifying show for the Final. If judges agree that the standard is high enough a second entry may be qualified. The Qualifiers from each of these shows will go forward to the Final, to be held at the Ballyshannon Agricultural Show, on Sunday 19 August Each of the successful qualifiers will receive a Rosette on appearance at the Final. 9 The Judges decisions will be final at all stages of the competition. 10 Exhibits are displayed at owner s risk. 11 The foregoing rules should be read in conjunction with the Irish Shows Association Rules together with Ballyshannon Show Rules. 12 Exhibits must be placed for judging by am on Sunday 19 August Exhibits cannot be removed from final before 4 30 pm. 12 THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION AND BONNICONLON SHOW LIMITED PRESENT The All-Ireland Domestic Arts Championship RULES AND CONDITIONS Sponsored by: Bonniconlon Show Ltd 1 Each exhibit must consist of Three items from the list below: (a) Handmade Picture, any medium, max 60 cm x 45 cm (excluding Frame). (b) Flower Arrangement for a Dining Room table (space allowed 12 x 12 ). (c) 6 Potatoes, any variety. (d) Decorated Victoria Sponge (20 cm/8 ins Round). Filling and decoration must be non-perishable. The picture must be hand made. Machine work will not suffice. Potatoes must be grown by Exhibitor. Exhibitors may qualify once only. Two Exhibitors to qualify from each qualifying show. This competition will be judged on a points system. Points will be awarded for presentation. Exhibits to be in place before am on day of Final ENTRY FEE To Qualifying Show 3. 13 THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION AND TULLAMORE SHOW SOCIETY PRESENT The Odlum s All Ireland Home Baking Championship RULES AND CONDITIONS Sponsored by: Odlum s Each competitor must bake the four items listed using Odlum s products: a Decorated Colourful 3 layer birthday Cake (Layers to be blue, yellow, pink) 20 cm, 8 ins Round. b Lemon Meringue Pies. c Sausage Plait. d Multi Seed Bread 900g, 2 lb Loaf. NB All recipes can be found on the Odlum s Website: 2 Items to be displayed on individual plates and each exhibitor will be allotted their own space (trays optional) on a base 24 Square. 3 Points will be awarded for taste, texture, appearance of baked items and presentation. 4 The competition is confined to amateurs, both male and female, with one entry per exhibitor at the Final. 5 The items must be fresh and home baked by Exhibitor. 6 A special class will be held at each qualifying Show. Two entries may qualify from these Shows for the Final, if Judges agree that the standard is high enough. The Qualifiers from each of these Shows will go forward to the Final to be held at Tullamore Show on Sunday 12 August Non adherence to tray size will deem elimination of exhibit. 8 All items will be cut and/or sampled by the Judge. 9 Each of the successful qualifiers will receive a hamper containing Odlums products, on appearance at the Final. 10 Certificates will be awarded to the finalists. 11 The Judge s decision at all stages of the competition is FINAL. 12 Exhibits are displayed at owner s risk. 13 These rules should be read in conjunction with the Irish Shows Association Rules. 14 Marquee open from 7 30 am on Show morning and will be closed for judging at am sharp. 16 THE IRISH SHOWS ASSOCIATION AND VIRGINIA SHOW SOCIETY PRESENT The Fleetwood Paints All Ireland Amateur Painting Competition Kindly Sponsored By Fleetwood Ireland s Paints Company RULES AND CONDITIONS 1 Paintings must be the sole work of the exhibitor who must have amateur status. 2 Paintings to depict an Agricultural or Rural setting. 3 Paintings must measure no more than 26 x 20 (66 cm x 51 cm) not including the frame. 4 All Paintings must be ready to hang, that is, framed and with a hanging cord attached. 5 The Judges decision will be final. 6 All entries to be exhibited at owners risk. 7 All entries to have amateur status as defined by the following: a Not to have had a commercial solo exhibition b Not to have exhibited in a commercial gallery c Not to be teaching or have taught art in any form. 8 To avoid any confusion, would exhibitors please print their name and telephone number on a label and attach to back of painting. 9 These rules should be read in conjunction with the Irish Shows Association Rules. Only natural material and any foliage may be used in this section, except where otherwise stated. Exhibits may not exceed the dimensions given, but may be smaller and except where specified, they may be of any height or depth. Accessories are anything other than plant material used as part of the exhibit, except bases, containers and drapes. Driftwood is not an accessory. 28 Tyrone Farming Society The Carson Shield for Handwriting 2018 RULES FOR THE COMPETITION 1 Entrants shall copy, in script or joined writing, the Bible portion Gospel of John, Chapter 10, Verses 22 30, from The New International Version (NIV) The Good News Bible or The Authorised Version (AV). 2 Entries shall be in ink on a single sheet of A4 paper, ruled or plain, with a margin. P5 pupils may use pencil, if desired. 3 All entrants must be in the Key Stage 2 age group. 4 The Carson Shield will be awarded to the entrant with the best writing and will be held for one year. 5 The Judges will mark for good letter formation, accuracy, consistency of style, neatness and spacing. 6 Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 entries. 7 The decision of the Judges will be final. 28

RULES FOR THE COMPETITION Entries will be accepted at the Office in TFS Showgrounds, 3 Gillygooley Road, Omagh on or before Monday 21 May 2018 and no later than 5 00 pm. All Entrants must be in the Key Stage 3 age group with a maximum of 4 competitors from each school.
