Beginners - After Lunch OBEDIENCE CLASS DEFINITIONS C Open Obedience is open to all dogs of any breed or variety. B Limit Obedience is confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes in any Obedience Classes with the exception of Beginners, Novice or Graduate Obedience Classes. A Graduate Obedience is confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes in any Obedience Class other than in Beginners and Novice Obedience Classes. Novice Obedience is confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes in any Obedience Class other than in Beginners Obedience Class. Beginners Obedience is confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or won three or more first prizes in any Obedience Class, other than Pre-Beginners, under IKC rules and regulations or any Kennel Club recognised by the IKC. SPECIAL Introductory Beginners Class is confined to HANDLERS or dogs which have not won MORE THAN one First Prize in ANY Obedience Class EVER under ANY Kennel Club Rule. 3 Special INTRODUCTORY BEGINNERS CLASS Overall impression: In all exercises, dogs should be demonstrating enjoyment and confidence. The overall impression should be of enthusiasm, focus, style and energy by both dog and handler, of each exercise. Handlers may reward their dog in the ring between exercises using food or toy rewards. This Class will take place in a separate Ring. Handlers may carry rewards on their person e.g. in a pocket. CARRYING ANY REWARD IN THE HAND will be assumed to be NOT FOR COMPETITION/TRAINING. FOOD MUST BE OF A NON-CRUMBLY VARIETY as it is not fair on the following competitors to leave a food trail around the ring. THE TEST (1) Play 25 Points (2) Heelwork 25 Points (3) Toy Retrieve 25 points (4) Recall 25 Points Total 100 Points Awarded (1) PLAY 25 Points Demonstrate that you can get your dog engaged with you using play to motivate it to want to work with you in the Ring. You may use any type of toy with the exception of squeaky ones. NO FOOD is allowed in this exercise. Your dog may be on or off lead. (2) HEELWORK 25 Points This will consist of a short heelwork pattern, which may include circles. On or off lead, your choice. No halts will be included in this exercise, as the emphasis on Heelwork is about moving rather than stopping. (3) TOY RETRIEVE 25 Points Any toy, with dog on or off lead. Place toy on ground and encourage dog to pick up toy. Handler then to back up encouraging dog. Exercise is finished when toy is placed in handlers hand. (4) RECALL 25 Points Leave your dog in any position. Short recall, with no finish to heel required. You may leave your lead attached if you wish. TOTAL 100 Points

4 SHOW REGULATIONS 1. The Show will be held under the Licence, Rules and Regulations of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. 2. The Show will be held at Streamstown, Malahide, Co. Dublin. The Show opens at 9.00 am. Judging commences 9.30 am sharp. Entry fees are: Introductory Beginners & Beginners 4 ( 3) per dog per entry Novice, A & B 6 ( 5) per dog per entry C 10 ( 8) per dog per entry 3. Cheques etc. to be made payable to Fingal Dog Club. 4. ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY 17 th JUNE, Dogs under 6 months of age are not eligible to enter. 6. Fingal Dog Club reserves the right to refuse any entry. 7. All dogs must be registered or transferred with the I.K.C. Ltd., save in the case of greyhounds duly registered with the Irish Coursing Club. 8. All wins prior to the day specified for the closing of entries shall be taken into account when entering any class. 9. Food shall not be given or carried in the ring. 10. Any article carried by the handler is subject to the judge s discretion, but must be indicated to the judge prior to the commencement of the test. 11. A complete Running Order will be made for Class 6 C by the IKC. 12. It is the competitor s responsibility to be available for their class. 13. Fingal Dog Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained through accidents by exhibits, exhibitors or other persons attending the show. 14. Dogs must be kept under proper control at all times. 15. Exhibitors must clean up if their dogs foul the grounds. Suitable facilities will be provided for this. 16. No bitches in season are allowed on the showgrounds. 17. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the showgrounds is forbidden. 18. The Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute Judge if circumstances prevent an appointed judge from fulfilling the appointment. 19. Should circumstances so dictate the Club, in consultation with the Judges may alter arrangements as necessary. TRAINING DAY John Higgins will be giving a training day on Sunday 12 th July. Spectator places are available at 15. Handlers places at 35 are full. There is a waiting list.

When you reach the traffic lights at Tesco, turn LEFT on to the R107 main Dublin to Malahide road. Follow this road towards MALAHIDE for just over 3kms. Go through traffic lights and STREAMSTOWN is about 100 m. on the left. From North leave M1 at Junction 4 signed R132, MALAHIDE, SWORDS, and DONABATE. Keep following signs for MALAHIDE. Go through ESTUARY ROUNDABOUT and SEATOWN ROAD ROUNDABOUT. Take the FIRST turnoff at the MALAHIDE ROAD ROUNDABOUT, signed R106 MALAHIDE. Go straight through next mini roundabout. Turn RIGHT at traffic lights at T-junction, on to the R107, Dublin to Malahide road. Follow this road towards Dublin for 1.3 km and turn right into STREAMSTOWN. If you get to traffic lights you have gone 100 m. too far.
