3 Guidelines for 4-H County Fair Exhibits Fair Registration DUE Monday, July 2 or before WHAT IS A PREMIUM BOOK This document contains all information needed to register to exhibit in a class at the 4-H Anoka County Fair including any requirements for each project area. Please read carefully and contact the 4-H office with any questions. Use this to help guide you to complete your online registration at For most projects you will find the following information for each class: Required guidelines Exhibit suggestions Project limit (number of projects you can exhibit per class) Members may bring up to two exhibits per class, in nonanimal classes, unless otherwise specified. HOW TO REGISTER TO EXHIBIT AT THE FAIR 1. Use the premium book to help you decide what projects to exhibit and to ensure you are clear on all of the guidelines for each area. 2. In order to register for 4-H at your county fair on each youth must be enrolled as an active 4-H member and you must know your 4HOnline family login ( address and password) as these systems are connected. For more info go to If you do not know your 4honline.com log on follow the prompts to have your password reset. DO NOT attempt to create a new profile if you have trouble. Please contact the 4-H office for help. 3. Submit your fair registration on by July 2, This includes both exhibit building and animal entries. You will register for ALL classes for projects you plan to bring to the fair. If you are entering two projects in a class, you must add them as two separate entries. In a few cases you can register for more than two. Check each project area for class limits. You will register for a project according to your grade level completed. The breakdowns are as follows: Grades 9 and up, Grades 6-8, Grades 3-5, Cloverbuds (Grades K-2) Missing the July 2 deadline may jeopardize your eligibility for Champion, Reserve Champion, Merit awards, or State Fair trips. 3 CLOVERBUDS 1. Cloverbuds must have completed kindergarten, 1 st or 2 nd grade this year to participate in the County Fair. 2. All Cloverbuds may participate in the following Exhibit Building classes: Cloverbud Pet Poster Imagination Cat Poster Exploring Animals Dog Poster Community Programs/Adventures 3. Cloverbuds who attended the following learning events earlier in the year (on the days indicated) may register to participate in their county fair showcase events to receive premium. Food Review (June 18) Public Presentation Day (June 25) Fashion Revue (July 10) 4. Cloverbuds may participate in the following animal classes: Beef Cat Dairy Goat Horse Lama Poultry Rabbit Sheep Swine Small Pet 4-H MEMBERS GRADES Exhibits will be placed blue, red, or white by a judge. Champion, Reserve Champion, and Merit ribbons will be chosen by the judge and based or awarded on merit of the exhibit, only from the blue ribbon exhibits. 2. Animal exhibitors must be enrolled and have animal ID s recorded in 4Honline.com by May 15. Missing this deadline may jeopardize your eligibility for Champion, Reserve Champion, Merit awards, or State Fair trips. Please see the animal science section for complete information on livestock related exhibit conference judging schedules 3. Members must label their exhibit with their name, project area, and club. 4. Projects in the exhibit building are to be brought in and judged on the days indicated, either Monday or Tuesday. Please check each project area for the day it is to be brought in and judged on page All exhibits are to remain on display until 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. Removal of exhibits before scheduled release time or if not picked up between 7 8 p.m. on Sunday, will result in forfeiting your fair premium with no exceptions H members, parents and screened volunteers may purchase a reduced rate permit (wristband), which will allow entrance to the fairgrounds during the week of the fair. Wristbands may be purchased Monday, July 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Tuesday, July 24 from 12:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the 4-H building. It is wise to purchase wristbands Monday to avoid paying gate admission fees on Tuesday. There will be no exception

4 for 4-H families. You must be present to purchase a wristband! All wristbands will be put on at the time of sale. Cost is $6 per 4-H member and $20 per adult. 7. The Anoka County Fair Board, 4-H Management Committee, 4-H Leaders Council and the Anoka County Extension Office are not responsible for loss or damage to exhibits, including livestock H projects are judged in a conference. Conference judging is a conversation between the judge and the 4-H er. It is a chance for you to explain to a judge what you have learned from your project experience. The interview is as important as the exhibit itself. An equal weight is given on the actual exhibit 50% and on the conference 50%. For more information on how exhibits are judged, refer to the 4-H Family Handbook. Exhibits may include posters, displays, photographs, models, scrapbooks, essay, and/or other articles. STATE FAIR ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES 1. All exhibits (exhibit building and animals) must be preregistered by July Exhibits which are eligible for State Fair consideration are marked with an * before the lot. 3. Members must have completed 6th grade or higher by spring of 2018 and be currently enrolled in 4-H to be eligible to accept state fair trips. 4. The exhibitor must be present at conference judging within the scheduled time. 5. The State Fair trips will be chosen from the blue ribbon group. 6. Specific State Fair information for a particular project is included within the county class description H members can take both an exhibit building project and an animal exhibit project each year H members can take a State Fair trip in only ONE exhibit building project area. Exceptions include: a trip in a project area and Share The Fun, demonstrations, community pride or Arts-In. 9. Missing any of the above deadlines/requirements may jeopardize your eligibility for Champion, Reserve Champion, Merit awards, or for State Fair trips. Every MN 4-H member is eligible for a one time member exemption. This exemption provides the ability (one time in a 4-H ers career) for the 4-H member to acknowledge they missed a deadline related to enrollment or competitive event participation and waive the consequences for the named deadline. DISPLAY GUIDELINES 1. Due to space limitations, posters should not exceed 22 wide by 28 high. 2. A recommended size for a 3-sided display is 18 wide X 22 high with left and right wings of 12 wide X 22 high. Display may not exceed 12 deep X 24 wide X 36 high. VOLUNTEER AT THE FAIR Sign your family up to volunteer at the fair! An online sign up form will be ed to all families directly. MONDAY JULY 23, 1:00-5:00 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. TUESDAY JULY 24, 1:00-4:30 p.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. Aerospace Health Child/Family Development Lawn & Landscape Bicycle Imagination Clothing & Textiles Needle Arts Citizenship Robotics Crop Sciences Photography Cloverbuds Safety Entomology Plants & Soils Club Exhibits (all areas) Science of Animals Exploring Environment Potatoes Computers Self-Determined Fishing Quilting Consumer Ed Shop Flower Gardening Shooting Sports Crafts & Fine Arts Small Engines Forest Resources Vegetable Gardening Electric Tractor Fruit Video/Filmmaking Engineering Design Vet Science Geology Water Wetlands Exploring Animals Youth Leadership Home Environment Wildlife (animal posters) 4-H Community Program Indoor Gardening Food & Nutrition (all areas) 4-H Promotion & Marketing Global Connections 4-H EXHIBIT BUILDING PROJECT CATEGORIES GENERAL EXHIBITS STATIC 4-H COMMUNITY PROGRAMS/ADVENTURES Grades 9+ Grades 6-8 Cloverbuds - Youth who have given leadership in our Youth Teaching Youth programs or youth who have participated in a 4-H Adventure/site-based 4-H program. - You can do an individual or group exhibit which reflects the program you have been involved with or which could be used in the program. - You may enter one individual project and/or one team project (two or more people). - Any project made as part of a 4-H Adventure or site-based program. - An exhibit such as a written report or journal, scrapbook, research report, promotional banners, program support activities, or poster, etc. - Develop something that tells other youth and/or families about 4-H and what it has to offer and/or what you gain from being involved in 4-H. - This should not be an item that you exhibited at the Communication Arts Contest unless it has been improved upon, modified, or altered. - An exhibit which would include such things as promotional items: posters, banners, newspaper articles, school newspaper articles, radio or TV program example, billboard idea, kids or teen newsletter example, radio or TV ad. - Any promotional item, activity, or plan that would get the 4-H word out to the public. AEROSPACE - Airplane, rocket or kite built from kit or own design. (If flyable, engine need not be installed or gas/fuel should not be included.) - If entering an airplane, member should know construction techniques, flying information and aircraft represented. - Display of special interest in area of aerospace. 4-H PROMOTION & MARKETING Grades 9+ Grades This class is open to any 4-H member 5

6 BICYCLE - Repaired bicycle with explanation poster. - Poster showing safe bike practices, bicycle safety or parts of the bike and their functions. - Journal telling about experiences in project, including pictures. - Any bicycle-related exhibit. CHILD & FAMILY DEVELOPMENT - Members should be prepared to discuss the age and characteristics for whom the exhibit is intended and how the exhibit contributed to the child's growth, development and wellbeing. - Toys, game, puzzle, puppets, art/craft materials, etc. made from new or recycled/throw away material. - Babysitting kit, travel kit, or rainy day kit, including at least one item made by exhibitor. - One item or coordinated items for child's room. Item can be new, refinished or recycled. - Original book, story, poem, song, play activity, cookbook, activity book, or safety manual for children. - Original essay, photographic display, poster, journal, scrapbook, or file about children. - A creatively developed program and/or item used for or with a person with a special need (gifted, developmentally delayed, physically impaired, etc.). - Consumer study booklet or poster comparing at least 6 commercial toys; children's books; furniture, clothing, etc. - A childcare exhibit of your choice. CITIZENSHIP - Exhibit and report may be what the 4-H'er did as an individual and/or the results of taking major leadership responsibilities for club centered 4-H citizenship activities, learning experiences and community projects. - 3-ring binder, report binder, or 3-sided display reporting on community projects and/or citizenship activities which you or your club completed under your leadership. Include plans of action as well as the evaluation of each. -Exhibit on your family tree and community describe the process and any difficulties and surprises that you encountered as you studied and developed your family history. Report on their settlement and life as part of their community. Include other activities, family memories, traditions, maps made, and pictures taken. CLOTHING & TEXTILES CLOTHES YOU BUY - Additional tips can be found on the Purchased Clothing Guideline sheet available from the Extension Office or online. - Bring garments on a hanger. - Garments may have been worn, but must be clean and pressed. - Purchased garment or outfit. This must be accompanied by an 8½" x 11" notebook with the following information. A. Colored photo of member wearing the garment. Label photo with name, county, and color of complexion, hair, and eyes. B. Cost of garment. Explanation of why garment was purchased and examples of ways it will be used in existing wardrobe and include inventory of wardrobe. NOTE: If you are more experienced in this area, you may want to add more information to your notebook to show your advanced experience. CLOTHING & TEXTILES CLOTHES YOU MAKE - Bring garments on a hanger. - Garments may have been worn, but must be clean and pressed. - All clothing exhibits are to have been made by the 4-H member during the current 4-H year. - All exhibits must have a label with name and grade sewn to the exhibit; garments are also to contain a care label if possible. - Exhibitor must bring an index card with the exhibit containing the following information: pattern company and number, fiber content, approximate cost, and suggested care. - Exhibitor should plan to bring the pattern along on judging day. - Choice of garment, style, and fiber content must be appropriate to project level. - Seam finishes for constructed garments must be appropriate to the type of fabric used. - Constructed clothing item to wear. - Constructed costume. CLOTHING & TEXTILES NON GARMENT Pin cushion, patchwork pillow, sewn wall hanging, bike bag, tote bag, shop or chef's apron, ski bag, stuffed toy, pillow, placemat, belt, back pack, sun visor, pot holders, dolls, doll clothes. 6

7 CLOTHING & TEXTILES - FASHION REVUE One clothes you make and one clothes you buy equals 2 project limit. Clothes You Make: Cloverbud Clothes You Buy: - To receive a premium, members must participate in both of the following: - Fashion Revue Evaluation on Tuesday, July 10, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Bunker Hills Activities Center. - Fashion Revue Show on Saturday, July 28 at 11:30 a.m. at the Anoka County Fairgrounds. - Court of Honor and State Fair trips are selected at Evaluation and announced and awarded at the Public Revue. - Members can model a garment or article and participate in both constructed and purchased categories. - Cloverbuds are eligible to participate in constructed only. CLOVERBUD Four project limit. Enter separately. Any Cloverbud exhibit. - Members may exhibit four projects including posters or displays in a project area of their choice. - A project (exhibit) is something a Cloverbud has made or accomplished the past year at home or school. - All Cloverbud exhibits will receive a participation ribbon. - A snack or food item. - A potted plant, 3 cut flowers in a vase. - A leaf, rock or bug collection. - A craft or art project. - A sewn pillow or other item. - A plane or rocket. - A wood item. - Any item made by Cloverbud. CLUB BANNER One project limit. - Club banner that can emphasize: joining 4-H, a project, the local club, Anoka County 4-H, or 4-H in general. - Banners must be brought to the Exhibit Building: Wednesday, July 18, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or Thursday, July 19, 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. - Clubs will participate in conference judging. Each club may determine the member or members who will participate. - Your club s name must be visible on the backside of banner. - Two banners will be selected for the State Fair. Banners are sent to the State Fair, but no member trips are awarded. -Banners that do not adhere to the guidelines will not be eligible for higher than a blue ribbon. - Complete guidelines: CLUB 4-H BUILDING IMPROVEMENT One project limit. Your 4-H club will help keep our 4-H Exhibit Building looking its best by completing a 4-H Building Improvement project. Projects must enhance the 4-H building appearance or function. Projects can be improvement related, construction, or fundraising to purchasing something for practical use in the building. Purchased items could include - new display options, signage, push brooms, tables, etc. - 4-H clubs will choose a project to complete and then create an exhibit and be conference judged at the county fair. - Clubs must submit a proposal to 4-H staff for approval. - 4-H club must create a 3 sided display or other visual display to showcase their work and how they worked as a team to accomplish their goal. - Complete guidelines: CLUB BENCH One project limit. Club Bench - Clubs will design, build and decorate a bench with a 4-H theme. - Note new requirement: All benches are strongly encouraged to be built with locking casters. - Clubs are asked to consider the weight of the bench as they are moved frequently. - Complete guidelines: CLUB COMMUNITY PRIDE/SERVICE One project limit. Community Pride Purpose - To provide an incentive for 4-H youth to be actively involved in having a positive effect in their community. -One club's project will be selected for State Fair. - Exhibit must have a 3-sided display that visually shows the entire project or highlights certain parts in a manner that tells the public what positive effects the project has had on the community. - Photographs are necessary to tell the story. - Clubs will participate in conference judging. Each club may determine the member or members who will participate. - Two youth delegates who participated in the project may represent the club at State Fair. These youth have the option to stay overnight. - 4-H members can accept a general encampment trip as well as participate in their clubs community pride project judging. 7

8 CLUB CONTAINER GARDEN One project limit. - Container of outdoor plants to be used to beautify the fairgrounds. Containers will be judged on their color combination, overall health of the plants, attractiveness of the total plant display and showcase 4-H. - Clubs are responsible for watering and care of exhibit during fair. - Complete guidelines: CLUB POP UP PROJECT Two per club limit. This new club project will: -Promote 4-H -Feature 4-H Project Area(s) -Engage Fairgoers -Demonstrate Public Presentation Skills Club must: 1. Select 4-H project area/s. 2. Create learning opportunity that will happen during the 7 days of the fair that includes: a. Hands-on Activity geared toward children b. Teachable information presented before/during/after activity. 3. Elevator speech about 4-H in Anoka County - Complete guidelines: CLUB SCRAPBOOK One project limit. Club Scrapbook for current 4-H year. - Clubs will participate in conference judging. Each club may determine the member or members who will participate. - Complete guidelines: COMPUTER - A computer will not be provided. - Exhibits that include hardware may be included but computer equipment will not be kept on display. A color photograph should be taken of this item and attached to display. - Reports and written summaries should be bound in a booklet or placed in a folder. - Emphasis is on documentation, screen print and summary. - Display and/or written summary about: computer components, consumer computer choices, computer technology or language, etc. - Labeled chart, graph, poster or display showing components of a computer and how they work. - Software developed by member. - A web page developed by member. - Any computer exhibit. CONSUMER EDUCATION - Exhibitors should be able to explain their choices and the reasons for those choices. - Educational display about shopping such as: folder or notebook for labels and instruction booklet; label comparison; consumer comparison, etc. - Teaching plan, game activity, etc. used to teach others about consumer education and report on results of use. - Example of consumer complaint and how it was settled. - 3 different sources of information for consumer comparisons and example of how these sources were used. - A consumer education exhibit of choice. CRAFTS & FINE ARTS - CRAFTS * Crafts - Grades 9+ * Crafts - Grades 6-8 Crafts - Grades A craft is a project that begins from someone else's idea and can be duplicated. - Kits or patterns can be used. - Project exhibits must be completed or finished. - Painting, drawing, decorated wood item, stamp art or stenciling, ceramics, fiber arts, tie dye, beading, calligraphy, leather tooling, basket making or any other craft item. ELECTRIC - For the State Fair a wiring diagram or schematic must accompany all electric and electronic exhibits. - Exhibits cannot exceed 20 sq. ft. of floor space. - Trouble light, extension cord or useful electrical implement. - An electronic item built from kit, plan or own idea. - Item constructed for home, yard or farm. - Repaired or remodeled electrical item. - Science exhibit explaining some phase of electricity and/or electronics. - Display ideas: Careers in electrical field, electrical experiment (may or may not have worked), educational display used in teaching others. - Any article made in the project. ENGINEERING DESIGN * Grade 9+ * Grade 6-8 Grade 3-5 Requirement: - Include description of the problem/challenge being solved - Include description of the engineering design process/steps undergone to solve problem -Display, binder, poster illustrating the process of doing the activity/project -Exhibit of engineering design product -Display, binder, poster, webpage exploring a related career * for more information on any of the Engineering Design project areas listed here. ENGINEERING DESIGN - AQUATIC ROBOTICS * Grade 9+ * Grade 6-8 Grade 3-5 Requirements: - Design and build a remote-operated vehicle (ROV) - Use and adapt it to monitor water quality/ Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) education - Teams of a least 3 youth, or individuals may exhibit - Display, binder, poster illustrating the process of doing the activity/project - Exhibit of ROV - Display showing their use in AIS education 9 ENGINEERING DESIGN - ROBOTICS * Grade 9+ * Grade 6-8 Grade 3-5 Note: The goal of the 4-H robotics program is for the 4-H members to explore science, technology and engineering through designing and building a functioning robot. The robot can be either programmable or remote controlled. The robot can be created by an individual or a group. Requirements: - Exhibits must be labeled with name, and county on all pieces of the exhibit. - Include a description of the robots ability to sense, follow a plan and complete an act - Exhibits may have a one page report explaining the function, purpose and construction of the robot. - A robot, a display, diagrams of programming, booklets, etc. ENTOMOLOGY For more specific information on pinning, labeling, other information, see Collecting and Preserving Insects, a MN 4-H entomology resource, Insect Collection Exhibits: a. Collections shall be contained in a glass topped case; approximately 19" x 16.5" x 3" to 24 x 18 x 3 (drawers available for purchase in varying sizes). Arrange so that the case may be displayed in a horizontal position. Place project label on lower right corner of glass top. Only one case per exhibitor allowed. b. Specimens must be collected by the exhibitor. Purchased insects are not acceptable. c. Specimens must be properly pinned with insect pins. Small insects may need to be placed on cardboard points. d. Specimens must be properly labeled. 1) The location, date, and collector must be included on the labels. County and state (and country, when applicable) are minimum location information that should be included. It is valuable to include nearest town where the specimen was collected, the type of habitat it was collected from (e.g. on elm tree; on lake shore; indoors), and the common name of the insect. 2) All labels should be visible so they can be read. Use permanent ink marker or pencil to write labels. Labels produced by a computer printer are acceptable. Ballpoint ink or non-permanent markers are not acceptable. Non-Collection Project exhibits: a. Emphasis of project must relate to an aspect of entomology. b. Project must demonstrate specific knowledge of insects. Be prepared to discuss references and sources (e.g. books, magazines, Internet, interviews with an expert, etc.) c. Live projects (e.g. bee or ant colony) will be accepted if the project can be self-sustaining for up to 14 days without special care. d. A written report or journal should accompany the project, introducing the subject, describing the process (materials and method), predicting an outcome, stating the results, and discussing any conclusions. Pictures, drawings, charts, tables, or other figures may be used.

10 - General Insect Collection: Must consist of a minimum of 50 species of adult insects representing at least 8 orders. - Specialty insect collection can include, but is not limited to: a collection of a single order (e.g. Coleoptera or Lepidoptera), a collection of immature insects, a collection of insects from a particular habitat (e.g. aquatic, forest, or prairie), or a collection of economic pests of a specific crop (e.g. insects attacking corn). - Non-Collection Project can include, but is not limited to: life history displays (e.g. insect life cycle), scientific investigation (e.g. insect habitats or effects of environment factors on insects), or insects in current events. - Any entomology exhibit. EXPLORING ANIMALS Cloverbud Animal Posters - This area is for 4-H ers who wish to learn more about a given species. Animal ownership is not required. - 4-H ers enrolled in Exploring Animals, Beef, Dairy, Goat, Lama, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep or Swine may exhibit in this category. - An educational exhibit or poster to show or explain something 4- H er made, did, learned, or may explore consumer issues, breeds or careers. EXPLORING THE ENVIRONMENT - Display on one of the following: Pollution, safety practices outdoors, how plants grow, features of the soil, 10 animal signs, ecology of a farm pond, erosion control, careers. - Identify, mount and label a plant book of 10 different Minnesota plants. - An animal book of 10 wild or aquatic animals of Minnesota. - Any exhibit on the environment. FISHING - Habitat and food needs of 10 Minnesota fish. - Panel display of life history of Minnesota fish. - Model or exhibit identifying internal and external parts of a fish. - Fishing or boating safety practices. - Identify how and where fishing knots are used. - Fishing equipment which is made or repaired. - Display of artificial lures. - Display of fish cleaning and preparation. - Explain how water quality affects the fish eco-system. - Any fishing exhibit. FLOWER GARDENING - Outdoor living flowers and plants are to be exhibited in this area (including Outdoor Fairy Gardens) - Label cut flowers with name and variety. - Make sure you provide something to catch the water, which will drain out from the bottom of a container. - When exhibiting cut flowers, we suggest: 1. three stems of one variety of annual flower, or 2. one stem of a hardy perennial, or 3. one stem of summer flowering bulbs, or 4. one blossom of a tea rose, or 5. one stem of a hardy shrub rose. - Flower bouquet or arrangement on any theme. - Display of dried flowers with a card explaining the drying method. - Floral arrangement. - Educational display related to plant propagation, reproduction, nutrition, culture, etc. - Garden plan drawn to scale with explanations. - Any exhibit in flower gardening. FOOD & NUTRITION Five project limit. Enter separately. - All products must be made "from scratch" unless indicated. - Exhibitor is to bring along recipe used on a 3" x 5" index card which will be kept with the exhibit. Exhibitor must have a working knowledge of the recipe. - Members will be evaluated on their knowledge of the recipe and nutrition, as well as the quality of the food. - Educational exhibit may be: a poster, mobile, three-dimensional display, scrapbook, charts, journals, or pictures. - Pictures, food models, plaster, plastic, paper Mache, etc. are preferable to perishable food in an educational exhibit. - A food exhibit is eligible for State Fair consideration, but if you take a food exhibit to the State Fair, you must add a display or poster to it to make it a complete exhibit. -A photo of the food item will be taken of members with food items after judging for display at the fair and the food items will be sent home. - One serving of: a casserole, salad, a vegetable or fruit dish. - A nutritious snack food. - A food education exhibit such as: a. Study of nutrients needed in diet of same age group dietary guidelines and MyPlate. b. Fitness plan. c. Nutritional and energy need plan. d. Study of how physical fitness and/or food choices are related to disease. e. Comparison study of 3 food labels from similar food items. f. Explain how 5 or more nutritious snacks fit into a healthy diet. g. Food and/or kitchen safety. h. Career in food industry. i. A food/nutrition experiment. 10

11 - One loaf of any of the following breads: white yeast, wholewheat yeast, nationality, any variety bread or recipe of your choice. - Educational exhibit on: study of basic ingredients and purpose, nutritional value of bread products, comparison study of bread, cereal or pasta products, or exhibit of choice. - Exhibit that focuses on creative techniques used in the foods project. Suggestions include: Gingerbread house, cake decorating, sugar molds, marzipan, fruit bouquet. - Four dinner or sweet rolls or a coffee cake. - Any bread exhibit. - One serving of a dish with a dairy product(s) as main ingredient. - A food education exhibit. - Any meats exhibit. - A microwave cooking educational exhibit. - Any food exhibit. - Two jars of different: Fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, preserves (no frozen jams or jellies), low-sugar spread, pickle products, meat, poultry, fish (fish must be in pint jars), dried vegetables, dried fruits. (Such as: 1 peaches & 1 apples or 1 strawberry jam & 1 raspberry jam or 1 corn & 1 green beans.) - Six different dried herbs. - Three strips of beef or venison jerky. - Two pints of different frozen vegetables or fruits. - Food science experiment or educational display. - A food preservation exhibit of your choice. FOOD & NUTRITION - FOOD PRESERVATION - All recipes, procedures and times followed must be according to current USDA and/or National Center for Home Food Preservation recommendations. Quantities of sugar and juice used in jams and jellies may come from recipes on commercial pectin packages, but the processing method must be USDA or National Center for Home Food Preservation approved methods and recipes. - All food preservation exhibits must be labeled with a 2" x 3" label. Labels to include county, name, grade, product, style of pack, processing method (boiling water bath or pressure canner), date, processing time, date processed and source of recipe. Pressure canned items indicate dial or weighted gauge and how many pounds of pressure used. - All containers should be alike and clean for display; use only heat-tempered glass canning jars. - Recommended jar size: Pint jars - fruit, vegetables, and fish. ½ pint jars - jams and jellies. 1 quart jars - pickled products. Frozen products need to be packaged in a freezer container. - All low-acid products must be processed in a pressure canner. Fruits and pickle products must be processed in boiling water bath canner. Tomatoes may be processed in boiling water bath canner or pressure canner. - All improperly processed foods will be judged without ribbon or premium. - Jellies and jams must be processed in boiling water bath according to USDA and/or University of Minnesota food preservation publications. Note: Paraffin is no longer accepted. - Jellies and jams may be opened by judge. It is necessary to have an extra jar from the same batch to be considered for a State Fair trip. - No artificial food coloring should be added to entries. - All jars should be sealed. Jellies and jams should be covered with lids (no wax seals allowed). Leave screw bands on twopiece jar lids. - Dried foods may be stored in self-sealing or airtight plastic bags or glass jars. Quantity of dried foods should be: fruits and vegetables - ½ cup or more of each, herbs - ¼ cup of each in whole form, meat - 6 strips. - Flavored vinegars should be prepared according to methods approved by the University of Minnesota Extension. Label containers with type of flavored vinegar, date of processing, source of recipe. - Because of the safety concerns of herbal oils, they will not be permitted as an exhibit. -Preserved within the past year. FOOD REVIEW One project limit. Grades 9+ Grades 6-8 Cloverbud - Exhibitors must have exhibited in the June 18 Food Review. - Display one food item from your Food Review exhibit, at the county fair on Wednesday, July 25 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Set-up exhibits at 2:45 p.m. - Display guidelines: Follow Food Review format. - Members must be present for one hour to answer questions from public. - Cloverbuds are eligible to participate. 11

12 FOREST RESOURCES - Collection of leaves or needles with twigs, identified with their common name. Common name should be printed near the identified leaf/needle. - Photographic display of forest products--include the name of the product/use to identify the photograph. - Display showing tree growth; annual ring cross-sections; make a seed collection. - Prepare a report with drawings about your favorite tree--include name of tree, drawings or pictures of tree, facts and uses of the tree, and other appropriate information. - Display showing layers of the forest; renewable versus nonrenewable resources; forestry careers; leaf and twig identification; taxonomic keys; tree road maps. - Display showing forest succession; tree and forest measurements; fire's effect on the forest; how trees grow; forest types; harvesting methods; entomology of the forest; pathology of the forest. - Display showing forest products, including maple syrup production; wood products; Christmas trees or other forest resources (recreation, wildlife, etc.). - Display showing specialized woodland management, including shelterbelts/windbreaks and urban forestry. FRUIT - Include a 3 x 5 index card listing the varieties of fruit, name and club of exhibitor. - Exhibitor should bring 6 items of one variety of fruit. - Display showing a comparison of several varieties of the same fruit (labeled); display using a branch to illustrate proper pruning of fruit trees and explaining the process; illustrate the many uses of fruits (fresh, jams, juices, cooking, baking, salads and recipes); illustrate the use of fruits as natural dyes. - Educational display illustrating diseases (actual specimens) or insects (actual specimens) and methods of control. GEOLOGY - Attach specimens to a backboard or display in a glass-topped case (approximately 19 x 16.5 x 3 ). - Specimens should be approximately 2" x 2". - Label each specimen. - Secure specimens so they will not fall if case is set on its edge to 24 rocks, minerals, or fossils from Minnesota rocks or minerals on a specific theme fossils of which 50% are of Minnesota origin. - Show the "science how's and why's dealing with the principles of geology and natural earth sciences. - 5 different polished rock types used to make decorative items. - Iron ore display. - Any geology exhibit. 12 GLOBAL CONNECTIONS - Exhibit on involvement in a cross-cultural exchange, either as an exchange, a host or a pen pal. - An exhibit which relates to the art, music, literature, dance or language of another culture. - Any global awareness exhibit. HEALTH - Poster or display on any phase of health. - Any exhibit related to health project. HOME ENVIRONMENT - Members should be prepared to discuss and/or have written information to show how each exhibit applies to the home, how and where it is used or displayed, and all details of how it was made or selected (why it was done, costs involved, and alternatives considered). - Exhibits for the home must be accompanied by a photograph and a report showing its place in the home environment. - Pictures and wall hangings should be finished and ready to be hung in a suitable place in the home environment. - Exhibits will be evaluated on skills shown, usability of item, design chosen and alternatives considered. - Purchased kits ARE allowed be used. - Item made for inside or outside of home. - Finished or refinished wood item. - Item and/or plan for conserving energy or natural resources such as recycling, etc. - Diagram and analysis of a room's arrangement, traffic pattern, activity space, and storage space with suggestions for change if needed. - Description, diagrams/photos, samples, and costs of a room decorating plan. - Original item made for home or surroundings. - An exhibit of your choice. IMAGINATION One project limit Grades 9+ Grades 6-8 Cloverbud - Your imagination is the limit! Be creative and spontaneous and share your imagination with others! - You do not have to be enrolled in any specific project to exhibit. You just register for it. -If exhibiting something with Lego s please be sure that your exhibit is easy move and on a secure base. Live plants can be included as a part of the display. - Dish gardens, terrariums and hanging plants are encouraged as part of an exhibit. - Containers must be labeled with exhibitor's name, grade, county, and plant varieties. - Make sure you provide something to catch the water, which will drain out from the container. - Any live indoor potted plant. - Two different varieties of houseplants in same table container or hanging container. - Dish garden, not to exceed 24" in dimension. - Terrarium, not to exceed 24" in dimension. - Educational display (with or without live plants). - Any exhibit in indoor gardening. LAWN AND LANDSCAPE - Landscape plan drawn to scale with plants and major areas of yard labeled. Changes and future plans can be included. - Photographs showing before and after views are desirable. - Any project relating to lawn and landscape. NEEDLE ARTS Four project limit. List separately - Exhibits are to be handmade clothing or household items. - Each exhibit should include a card containing the following information: fiber content or material used, costs involved, care instructions and pattern company and number if appropriate. - Participant encouraged to bring instructions/pattern for your conference judging. 14 PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO MANIPULATION * Grade 6-8 Grade 3-5 Equipment: Any electronic device capable of capturing a photographic image to be printed (i.e. digital or film camera, DSLR, underwater camera, time lapse camera, cellphone, tablet, digital DSLR) or drone with attached camera (operator must meet age requirements to use a drone). Requirements: - ALL PHOTOS EXHIBITED MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN/PRODUCED ENHANCED BY THE EXHBITOR DURING THE CURRENT 4-H YEAR. (Exception an exhibit integrating older photographs) - Exhibitor s name, age and county should be printed on the back of the exhibit. - NO PICTURE FRAME OR GLASS ALLOWED (for safety). -Exhibits use 4 x 6, 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 photographs, mounted in a mat frame or foam board cut to fit. - Use 14 x 22 poster board for 5 or more photos. If not quilted or hand tied by the 4-H er, state who tied or hand/machine quilted the final project. (Note: depending on skill level of 4-H er, someone else may do the final quilting.) - Item may be either machine quilted, hand quilted, or hand tied. - A quilted item such as: lap quilt, vest, jacket, full-size quilt, etc. - Repair of an old quilt. - A display showing the history of quilting, trends in quilting, fabrics and patterns used in quilting, or a topic of your choice. SAFETY - Poster or display on any phase of safety. Ideas include traffic safety, home safety, farm safety, community safety, fire prevention and first aid kit. - Any exhibit related to safety project. - May be binder, poster, display, etc. SELF-DETERMINED - This class is intended for an exhibit that doesn t fit in any other project area. This is not a catch-all category but rather intentional self-directed learning. - A team may consist of not more than three (3) individuals from the same club or from up to 3 different clubs from the same county. - To be eligible for State Fair, the member(s) must be able to discuss the process of selection, planning and management of a self-determined learning experience. - Poster, display, or notebook showing the process of doing the activity/project. SHOOTING SPORTS - The exhibit may not exceed 12" deep x 18" wide x 22" high, except a gun, bow and arrow, or taxidermy item may be included in a display and will not be considered in the calculations of dimensions. - No explosive materials are allowed. - Arrows must be secured in such a manner so as to prevent their points or edges from being a hazard. - Only sporting firearms and bows will be exhibited, displayed or demonstrated. - MN and 4-H regulations for handling and storing firearms must be followed Safety techniques applied to shooting activities. - Basic concepts of wildlife management. - A display illustrating key field identification features of a group of game animals. - Archery, Shotgun, Air Pistol, Rifle or Muzzle loading skills such as: safety rules, parts and functions of equipment, care and maintenance, etc. - Sportsmanship - Game cookery - Taxidermy - Any other Shooting Sports exhibits. Any exhibitor not wanting their project to remain on the grounds can take it home after judging. TRACTOR - Check space requirements for large exhibits with staff. 16 VEGETABLE GARDENING - Label vegetables with proper variety names. - Vegetable exhibits taken to state fair must contain six different vegetables or be an educational display. - The publication Preparing Vegetables for Exhibit can provide you with excellent information about your exhibit. It is available through the Extension Office. - When exhibiting a collection of vegetables, it is recommended the collection includes six different kinds of vegetables (1 large specimen + 3 medium specimen + 2 small specimen = 6 different vegetable specimens for this project choosing any combination of the following: One large vegetable specimen (cabbage, squash, melon, pumpkin, cauliflower, etc.) Three different medium sized vegetable specimens and 3 of each specimen (tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, kohlrabi, carrots, beets, turnips, etc.) Two small vegetable specimen s and 12 of each specimen (green beans, peas, lima beans, etc.) Potatoes or cherry tomatoes & herbs may not be included in the collection - All vegetables should have stem attached. A 3" x 5" card must accompany the exhibit containing the vegetable name and variety. - A mini garden planted in a tub, pail, or large planter. - Collection of 6 potted herbs, identify them and give their uses. - A display of garden pests, identify and label. - Display showing 10 common vegetables and plant parts of each used for food. - Display showing a garden experiment. - Any other vegetable exhibit. VETERINARY SCIENCE - A scientific principle to the nutrition and health of an animal. - A skill learned in this project. - An animal health problem cause and control. - Any related Veterinary Science exhibit. VIDEO/FILMMAKING Exhibits will be sent in prior to fair. Details below. * Grades 9 and up * Grade 6-8 Grade 3-5 **If possible please upload videos by July 16 to this google folder: Videos submitted earlier will be viewed by the judge before the county fair so your conference judging time can be spent with more conversation about your video. You may request to replay certain elements with the judge at the time of judging. Equipment: Any electronic device capable of capturing a video image; video camera, digital camera, DSLR, time lapse camera or trail camera, cellphone, tablet, Go Pro or drone with attached camera (operator must meet age requirements to use a drone). Requirements: - All video/film footage exhibited must have been recorded/created in the current 4-H year. When appropriate, historical footage can be used, otherwise film/video content must have been taken in the current 4-H year. - All video/filmmaking exhibits must be made by the exhibitor OR if the exhibit is made by a video/filmmaking production team, the exhibitor must be a member and must have created at least 50 percent of the finished video/film. - Video/film must be presented on DVD, USB, flash drive or data CD - Video/film must include a title and credits. - The video/film must be original material, portions from other sources must be documented and have a copyright release, including music. Any video/film exhibit which appears to contain copyrighted material, including music, will not be publicly displayed unless the exhibitor has written permission from the producer to use the material in the video/film. - The exhibitor s name, grade, club, and exhibit class must be clearly printed on all exhibit pieces. - A computer with DVD player or USB port will be provided for viewing the video/film during the conference judging. If other equipment is needed for viewing, additional arrangements need to be made in advance. - Video/film must be playable on Windows, use file format including.wmv,.flv and.mpeg,.avi,.mov,.avchd,.mpeg- 1,.MEG-4, as well as a playable DVD. - This is not a slideshow (see Creative/Applied Photography for slideshow) Exhibit Ideas: - A video/film short-limited to 5 minutes or less (to insure full viewing by judge during judging process) Showcase various video/film techniques. A selected subject. Include a short storyboard or outline. - A poster that illustrates how a video/film camera works, or how to care for video/film equipment, illustration of computer video/film creation, etc. - A video/film made by blending computer technology and traditional camera created video/film. - A video/film using data from trail camera or time lapse camera (stop action video) or drone with attached camera (operator must meet age requirements to use a drone). - A video/film using Claymation or stop action - Pollinators! Save the Bees! Save the Butterflies! Focus on the plight of insects and the tremendous decline in numbers. Include information of the suspected reasons for the decline and possible solutions. 16

WILDLIFE BIOLOGY - The exhibit may not exceed 12" deep x 18" wide x 22" high. - A birdhouse or feeder may be in a display and will not be considered in the calculations of dimensions. - Display showing life cycle of favorite wild animal, this includes lions, tigers, etc. - Birdhouse or feeder with specific information. - Homemade bird book of 10 local birds with pictures and information. - Life-size pencil drawings or a plaster cast of at least 5 animal tracks showing individual footprints and trail patterns. - Animal book of 10 wild animals of Minnesota and information about them. - A wildlife management plan. - Mammal skulls cleaned and labeled. - Any exhibit in Wildlife project area. YOUTH LEADERSHIP - Exhibit showing member s leadership role in 4-H club, county, or community events. - Youth leader should be prepared to discuss the skills they have discovered, developed and shared with others through their involvement in Youth Leadership. - A written narrative or poster highlighting your leadership role in your club or county including: holding an elected office, committee work, camp counselor, part of event management, project organizer, on-going yearly responsibilities in a planned club program and fundraising, etc. - A lesson plan for an activity or a project meeting that you have planned and presented. Include teaching outline, objectives, information to be presented, techniques to be used, etc. - Display, scrapbook, poster (but not limited to these), that documents you taking charge and leading a service project. Share the steps from beginning to end. - Any creative exhibit related to youth leadership. 17

18 ANIMAL SCIENCE PROJECT AREAS 4-H LIVESTOCK RULES & REGULATIONS 1. May enter only one animal per lot (except where specified). For some species, you may enter more than one breed per lot. See specie information sections. 2. May enter more than two lots. 3. Classes labeled with an * before the lot description are eligible for State Fair trips. 4. To be eligible to accept a state fair trip 6 th graders must have completed the Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics training. Certification is good for three fair seasons H ers will participate in a brief interview about their animal project in beef, dairy, goat, lama, poultry, rabbit, sheep, and swine. 6. No bulls, rams, boars, or sows will be exhibited because of the relative hazard. 7. All beef, dairy, dog, goat, horse, lama, rabbit, sheep and swine shown in 4-H livestock shows must have the required State 4-H ID system, ear tag and/or tattoo. Animals must be identified on 4honline.com by midnight on May 15. This includes uploading the appropriate supporting documents. Failure to do so may make 4-H member ineligible for higher than a blue ribbon. 8. All animals exhibited must be owned solely by the member, member s family or leased by agreement. The family includes the 4-H ers parents or guardians and siblings living together as a family unit. The definition of family includes an extended family where the animals may be owned by grandparents with the 4-H ers parents actively involved with and working on the farm. Animals owned in partnership with non-family members (as defined above) must be leased and follow guidelines within the lease agreement. Registered animals, not leased, must be registered in the exhibitor's name and/or the exhibitor's family name. AT THE ANOKA COUNTY FAIR 1. Animal Check In Policy: a. First, check with a stalling committee member BEFORE you unload your animals to obtain your stalling assignment (if in a trailer). b. Next, exhibitors MUST check in with livestock clerk in barn ASAP to verify your animals against the ID information in 4honline.com H ers exhibiting livestock at the County Fair are responsible for the care and feeding of their animals the entire time the animals are on the grounds. 4-H ers found to be leaving care up to other families without their permission will be asked to remove animals and will lose premium. 3. If stalls are left dirty, premium money will be forfeited. 4. All grooming of livestock, including clipping, trimming and blocking (all species) must be clearly done by the exhibitor, members of the immediate family or any other registered Minnesota 4-H member. Immediate family members are defined as being parents, step parents, legal guardians, grandparents, brothers or sisters. The 4-H er exhibiting the animal should be present and involved in the fitting process at the fair. 5. All animal health regulations will be in effect as stipulated by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health and the County Agricultural Society. (Warts and ringworm are considered communicable diseases.) CLOVERBUD ANIMAL CLASSES 1. In order for a Cloverbud to participate in an animal project, the member must have enrolled in the project on 4HOnline. 2. Cloverbuds DO NOT need to identify an animal or complete a lease agreement if they are using another 4-H members animal (that is already ID d and at the fair) for the show. 3. Failure to do so may make 4-H member ineligible for higher than a blue ribbon. - State Dog Show consideration in lots depending upon state rules. - You must have completed the 3 rd grade by Sept to go on to the State Dog Show. - Proof of rabies and distemper/parvo vaccination must accompany all dogs. - Dogs must be kept on leash at all times except as directed during the show. - Please leave all dogs in season at home -- they will not be allowed to show. - Owners must clean up after their dog or forfeit their award. - 4-H ers shall exhibit in the classes corresponding to the level of training they and their dog have received. The dog may participate in this class only once during their 4-H career. A dog entering this class with more than ten (10) weeks of training prior to enrolling in the Foundation level training classes for 4-H is ineligible. The dog will move to the Beginner class the following year. * Beginner For the dog with previous experience in an organized training class of weeks OR a dog that completed the Foundation class the previous year OR a dog that received a red or white ribbon the previous year in the Beginner class. Upon receiving a blue ribbon or at the end of two years, the 4-H er and dog must move to the Graduate Beginner class. * Graduate Beginner - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. 25 * Novice - A 4-H er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Graduate Novice - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Pre-Open - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Open - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Graduate Open - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Pre-Utility - A 4-H'er and dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Utility - A 4-H'er may participate in this class with the same dog indefinitely. * Veterans - The Veterans class is for dogs that are too old and/or unfit to jump. If a dog under the age of seven years has been found unfit to jump by a licensed veterinarian, it will be allowed to compete in this class. A dog participating in Veterans Obedience, cannot participate in any obedience or rally class that has jumping exercises. Participation in agility will not be permitted. Showmanship participation is permitted. Once a dog competes in Veterans at the county show level, it can never again be shown in any agility class or other obedience or rally class that has jumping exercises, even if being trained and exhibited by another 4-H'er. A 4-H'er may participate in this class with the same dog indefinitely. * Brace - For a 4-H'er with two dogs of their own or those who wish to borrow/lease a dog if they do not have two dogs of their own. (A third dog may not be used for Brace.) A 4-H'er may participate in this class indefinitely. * Team - For 4-H'ers wishing to work together in training their dogs to perform as a unit of four. No particular level of training is required or prohibited in this class. One alternate is allowed to be named if the team desires. The alternate must be named at the county fair or qualifying show. The five names may be registered as exhibitors, as long as one of the five names is listed as the alternate. 4-H members may only be listed on one team each year. No substitutions may be made. For teams qualifying for the State Dog Show, the registration fee is charged for four exhibitors. The named alternate may compete in place of one of the original four-team members. DOG SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES Showmanship Show will be held Saturday, August 4 at 8:30 a.m. Trophy- no premiums. * Junior Novice - For the 4-H'er in the 3 rd grade through completion of the 8th grade, who has not received a blue ribbon in showmanship at the county fair. Showmanship is judged entirely on the member's ability to groom and show the dog by breed standards. A crossbred dog should be shown and groomed by the breed standard it resembles. Conformation of the dog is not evaluated. * Junior Open - For the 4-H er in the 3 rd grade through completion of the 8th grade who has achieved a blue ribbon in the Junior Novice Showmanship class at the county fair.

26 * Senior Novice - For the 4-H'er having completed 9th grade through grade 13. (See description under Junior Novice.) * Senior Open - For the 4-H'er having completed 9th grade through grade 13 who has achieved a blue ribbon in the Novice Showmanship class at the county fair. DOG AGILITY CLASSES Show will be held Friday, July 27 at 9:00 a.m. Guidelines: -In order to participate in Agility, you must participate in obedience training for the current year. - Dogs and 4-H ers must have completed the Anoka County 4-H Dog Agility course in the same year as agility show, or be approved by the Anoka County 4-H Dog Committee. - No dog treats will be allowed on the premises of the show area; leave them at home or in your car. - For safety reasons, no dogs are allowed to use equipment when the show is not in progress, unless okayed and supervised by a trainer. - Scoring will be the same as that used by the United States Dog Agility Association scorecard. * Lot eligible for State competition. Pre-Beginner - For those who have never shown in Agility before or have not reached a score of 170 in the obedience show. In order to move out of Pre-Beginner, you must show in the obedience show at the county fair and score 170 or above. * Beginner - For the 4-H er and their dog who has achieved a score of 170 or higher in obedience. All dogs will be shown on leash, wearing flat collars with no tags or attachments. Members MUST show at this level until achieving a round of five or fewer faults in competition. Standard Course Time = 60 seconds. * Elementary - All dogs are shown off leash, wearing flat collars with no tags or attachments. Members MUST show at this level until achieving a round of five faults or less in competition. Standard Course Time = 60 seconds. * Intermediate - Dogs are shown off leash, wearing flat collars with no tags or other attachments. Members MUST show at this level until a round of five or fewer faults has been achieved in competition. Standard Course Time = 75 seconds. * Senior - All dogs are shown off leash with no collar. Members must show at this level until achieving a round of five faults or less in competition and then may advance to the next level the following year or have the option to stay at this level for a maximum of three years of five faults or less. After the third year of five faults or less members must advance to the next level the following year. Standard course time is computed at two yards per second, but not exceeding 75 seconds. * Advanced - All dogs are shown off leash with no collar. This class is for dogs and handlers who have achieved a round of five faults or less for one to three years in the Senior Agility Class or are competing in USDAA Advanced, NADAC Open, or AKC Excellent Level or beyond. A dog and handler may remain in this class indefinitely. * Jumpers 1 This class is for those in the Beginner level of Agility. Dogs may be shown on or off leash. A score of 5 or fewer faults is required to move to the Jumpers 2 level. * Jumpers 2 Dogs are shown off leash and a collar is optional. Members must show at this level until achieving a score of 5 or fewer faults in competition and then may advance to the next level the following year or have the option to stay at this level for a maximum of 26 three years of 5 faults or less. After the 3rd year of 5 faults or less, members must advance to Jumpers 3 the following year. * Jumpers 3 Dogs are shown off leash with no collar. Dogs may compete in this class indefinitely. DOG RALLY CLASSES Show will be held Saturday, August 4 at 8:30 a.m. * Lot eligible for State competition. *Foundation - This is for the handler/dog team that would compete at the Foundation Level of 4-H Obedience. A dog that has earned a leg toward any Rally Novice title (or equivalent) is not eligible to compete in this class. * Pre-Novice - A 4-H er and their dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Novice - A 4-H er and their dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Pre-Advanced - A 4-H er and their dog may participate in this class until receiving a blue ribbon at the county or state show level. * Advanced - A 4-H er has the option to compete in Advanced until they have earned 3 blue ribbons with the same dog. If the 4-H er decides to compete in Excellent, he/she may not move back to Advanced. * Excellent - A 4-H er may participate in this level with the same dog indefinitely. * Veterans - The Veterans class is for dogs that are too old and/or unfit to jump. If a dog under the age of seven has been found unfit to jump (broad and high jump) by a licensed, practicing veterinarian, it will be allowed to compete in this class.
