2 Cloverbud and Explorer Day Camp When: Friday, June 27 Time: 11:00am-4:00pm Where: Wakanda Park Pavilion It s time to get signed up for 4-H Cloverbud and Explorer Day Camp! Get ready to play awesome games, sing silly songs, and make fanciful crafts! Additional information/details will be sent out once your registration is sent in! Please make sure your health forms are updated in 4honline.com. If you have any questions, contact Jason Hausler or Cindy Bourget. Registration is due by Thursday, June 12 and can be found at h-youth-development/4-h-forms-and-documents/ under Camps. Cloverbud and Explorer Day Camp Counselors Needed! 3 Fair Time Online Entries Before you begin to set up a user account: Determine an address you will have your information sent to. Members showing animals (except dogs, cats and small animals) will be required to enter their premise ID. If you don t have a premise ID number, call or go online at To Access Blue Ribbon: Go to Dunn County Fair website: dunncountyfair.org Click on Online Entries Available for Junior and Open Class (This link can be found on the home page or under Fair Book. ) Horses The exhibitors bringing in horses still have to fill out the paper horse form. Enter Department 6, Class letter and Lot numbers on the computer, but you will need to get the paper copy, along with your Coggins, to your general leader by 6/15/14. General Leaders After the 24th and before July 1st you can come to the Fair Office and get a printout of all the online entries for your club. These will have to be signed by you that the exhibitors are entered in those projects, just as you would a non-online entry. Once those are done the exhibit tags can be printed. Create a New User Account If you already have an account, skip to Login You will need to provide basic information address, club, , etc. *You will need your premise ID if you are showing animals. If you are not bringing animals use (seven 9 s) as a premise ID number. *Remember your and password!! You will use this to log in from now on!* Login (First name, , and password) Click on Premium Book Select Department Add Class and Lot While selecting projects, you can click on pending to see what you have chosen so far. When you are completely satisfied click on Tickets and Misc Items/Checkout. Click the affirmation that you have read and understand the fair rules and regulations. (Which are in front of the fair book). Click on submit this will send the entries you chose to your and the fair. Click on History to see everything you have entered. Assistance If you would like to do your entries online, but do not know how or do not have access to a computer, contact Marge McMartin, Fair Secretary, to sign up to work on a computer at the Government Center. Reminder: Explorer & Cloverbud Rules Explorers may enter one project per lot number in the explorer category. This means that Explorers are no longer restricted to taking only one animal to the fair and they are no longer restricted to 5 projects total. Parents and General Leaders exercise good judgment in how many animals and projects your explorer can handle TAKING CARE OF at the fair! Cloverbuds still have a 3-fair-project limit. But the contests cloverbuds entered in before the fair (split fair entries) will not count against the entries they can take to the fair! Making Changes If you want to add, delete, or change an entry you can go back in to blue ribbon and start at login. You don t create another new user account remember your password and the address you used! You will get a new every time you go back in and make a change to your entries. Entry Deadline The last day to enter or make changes to entries is 6/15/14.

4 Fair Time Dunn County FairTheme It s Fair Time Guidelines for decorating barns include: Must be suitable for the public Must positively promote the agriculture and 4-H and/or FFA Will be considered as a part of the Herdsmanship Award Small Animals Exhibitors: Make sure to check the fair book carefully to be sure that your animal has ALL of the required tests, immunizations & papers! Bring your own dishes for water and food. Dishes must be large enough to hold water for several hours. No tuna cans or bottoms of 20 oz. pop bottles allowed. For rabbits, it is strongly recommended to use a drip water bottle. If these are family pets, take note of the weather. If you think it is too hot, do not bring them to the fair. If you are dropping or canceling a rabbit entry, call the Fair Office. This will help when setting up cages and making assignments. ANIMAL PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS... Photos Required! Animal project members who show animals that do not stay at the fair the entire time are required to bring a photo of the exhibitor with the animal. Give the photo to the Superintendent when checking in. This photo remains on display throughout the fair. See the fairbook for details. ALL Animal Projects Each Animal project requires different forms, immunizations, health tests, etc! Make sure you read the rules in the fair book CAREFULLY so you know what is required of you as an animal exhibitor. Remember, proper show attire (fair book pg. 4) is required of all showing animals! PEN ASSIGNMENTS Leaders need to turn in Fair Pen Assignments to the Extension Office on or before July 3rd! Members, it is YOUR responsibility to let your club s designated leader know how many of each type of animal you are bringing to the fair before that date so that you can show your animal at the fair. These include: Dairy, Beef, Swine, Sheep, Goats, Horses, Rabbits and Poultry. See next page for information break down. REMINDER to All EXHIBITORS: Be sure to read all the rules in the fair book pertaining to your exhibits. Remember that exhibits not following all the rules can be dropped one placing or to 4th place (depending on the class) or be disqualified. Some common errors found in exhibits include: Not following exhibit size regulations. Bringing too many or too few items for an exhibit. Not attaching note cards or labels containing requested information. Be sure to follow the directions as to the size of these cards as stated in the rules. Read the information in the fair book concerning the rules & regulations for your exhibits. Attach description cards as required.

6 Meat Animal Project Educational Requirements Meat Animal Project Updates and Dates June 10: MAQA, 7-8:30, Judicial Center (RSVP by June 6) July 7: All Exemption Request Due to the Extension Office by 4:30pm July 7: All Educational Point Forms to the Extension Office by 4:30pm July 18: MAP Committee Meeting, Noon, Dean and Sue s August 13: Carcass Clinic, 7:00-8:00pm, Judicial Center POSTERS Project posters must be posted before 9 pm on Wednesday, July 23, and individual record sheets must be turned into the superintendents at that time. Members will need to bring: a felt tip marker, calculator, beginning and ending weights of animals, copy of your ration and approximated feed intake of your animal. If not posted, a two percent deduction per occurrence of unacceptable herdsmanship will be made from your sale check. Start filling out your reports before the fair! Please submit your Educational Requirements to the Extension Office by 4:30 pm July 7th. All project members are encouraged to review rules to avoid penalties. *Late educational requirement forms result in a 2% deduction, they must be turned in before the fair to sell at the auction!* MAQA Certification Swine Project members may not sell animals at the fair unless they have a valid MAQA certification. If you are not able to come to the June offering, Contact the Extension Office to take the test if you are 12 or older or please check the youth livestock website for upcoming trainings in other counties. If you are unsure if you have met the MAQA requirements, contact the Extension Office. MAQA Training June 10, 7-8:30pm Place: Judicial Center Who: Any Meat Animal Project member is welcome to attend to receive educational points, but all Swine members are required to have the proper MAQA certification. If you are unsure if you have to attend MAQA this year, contact the Extension Office. Invitations Please RSVP by June 6th Please remember to deliver your invitations in a timely manner to the buyers. Please acquaint yourself with all rules as you may need to explain some to your buyers. If you do not understand some of the rules, please contact a member of the Meat Animal Committee. If you need invitation idea s, please contact the Extension Office. There is a helpful brochure available at the Extension Office that you may want to include with your invites. Meat Animal Auction Saturday, July 27 5:00 pm Under the Oaks by the Hog Barn All Meat Animal Project Members are expected to either help set up or take down!! Carcass Clinic August 13, 7:00-8:00pm Place: Judicial Center Who: All Meat Animal Project members are required to attend this workshop where carcass results and awards are given. Members who have not received committee approval to miss the carcass clinic will receive a 2% deduction. All exemption requests for the carcass clinic are due July 7th to the Extension Office. Species meetings will follow.

7 Fair Time Exhibit Building Clean Up July 17th, 3-5pm We need volunteers to clean up the Exhibit Hall and hang the Pipe and Drape. Remember, we all take advantage of this building and the way we present it to the public is important. Plus, the more hands, the faster it will go! If you are able to help, please let Jason or Cindy know so we know who to expect. Superintendent Training July 17th, 5:15-6:30pm All Superintendents are required to attend this educational meeting to learn about and review your roles. Snacks will be provided! Fair Ground Set-Up July 17th, 6:30pm 9:30pm * Superintendants will be available to help clubs know where they can set up their animal projects and answer questions. * Non-Animal Areas will set up their areas for judging and fair exhibiting. * Fair Board Members will be available to answer questions. * Buildings will be open for clubs and exhibitors showing animals to set up. Small Animal Sale! The Small Animal Sale will be Saturday, July 26th at 3pm in the Small Animal Barn. Exhibitors Staying Overnight Exhibitors (that have completed 8th grade) showing dairy, beef, sheep, swine or horses at the County Fair may stay overnight on the fairgrounds on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Exhibitors staying overnight must turn in the overnight consent form by 5:00pm, Wednesday, July 23. In addition, you must sign up in the Fair Office each day prior to 8:00 pm. The list of names will be turned over to the grounds security and monitored. Individuals who are not on the list will be asked to leave. Parental permission is the responsibility of the exhibiting families, only animal exhibitors may stay on the grounds. Forms can be found at dunncountyfair.org Fair Entry Tags / Ride Passes General Leaders, the fair entry tags will be ready to pick up in late June! One person from each Club needs to pick up all of the Club s tags. Call to make sure Marge is available prior to coming to the office! (715) Want to be a Ribbon Helper? If you are going into 6 th -12 th grade and would lie to learn more about your project area, consider being a Ribbon Helper. Help is needed during judging times to put ribbons on exhibits, putting exhibits back in display cases and helping judges and superintendents with other tasks. If you are interested, please contact Jason or Cindy by July 15.

8 Fair Time Help with Cloverbud Judging! Did you know that Teen Leaders judge Dunn County Cloverbud projects at the fair? This is a unique opportunity to instill a love of the fair in a new 4-H member! Call or Cindy at cyntiha.bourget@ces.uwex.edu to sign up! 3:00pm-4:00pm Wednesday, July 23 4:00pm-5:00pm Awards of Excellence & Grand Champions (Newspaper Recognition) The photography schedule will be posted in the Exhibit Hall. Exhibit Hall Awards of Excellence photos will be taken as group photos at 4:00on Friday. Exhibitors & parents are expected to be respectful and cooperative with photographers to ensure future photographs. Photographers are only obligated to take photos of award winners during the listed times and photos may not appear in the paper. Exhibitors who do not show up at these times may not be printed in the newspaper. If photos are scheduled to be taken after judging, remain in your area until the photographer arrives. All SPECIAL AWARD WINNERS IN ANIMAL DEPARTMENTS WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHEDAT JUDGING s END by their superintendent. Pallorum Testing Pallorum testing will be offered again this year by Keith Quast. Watch for an update on time and place. 4-H Fair Food Stand The 4-H Fair Food Stand committee is looking for new members, both Teen Leaders and Adult Volunteers, and all voices are welcome.
