2 186 Biot Neotrop., vol. 10, no. 2 Mnso, C.L.C. Introduction Among the min studies deling with Chilen shelf nd yssl echinoderms we note those resulting from expeditions like the Chllenger (Lymn 1882), revised y Ludwig (1898, 1899); the Discovery (Mortensen 1936); the Lund University Chile Expedition (Mortensen 1952); the Mr-Chile Expeditions I nd II, the Chiloé I Expedition (Cstillo-Alrcón 1968) nd the Eltnin Expedition, which studied the reltionship etween the Antrctic nd the Estern South Pcific funs off Chile nd Peru (Tommsi 1976) nd Quirog & Sellnes (2009) studied the growth nd size-structure of the ophiuroid Stegophiur sp. on the continentl slope off centrl Chile. Other ppers out Chilen cost deling with shllower ofiuroids, like Jrmillo (1981) out the ophiuroids from Chiloé & Conos inlets nd Dhm (1999) compred of the shllow wter (< 550 m) ophiuroid fun of the Mgelln region nd the high-antrctic Weddell Se. In spite of these efforts more recent ppers out the ophiuroids of the shelf nd slope of Chilen wters re very scrce nd only 40 species re registered off Chilen mrgin. Here we report on Ophiuroide (Echinodermt) otined in the continentl mrgin nd thyl zone off Chile, etween 22 S nd 42 S ltitude, y the Chilen-Germn PUCK Expedition (SONNE 156, 2001). Mterils nd Methods The ophiuroids were collected off Chile with n Agssiz trwl with mouth width of 1.5 m nd 10 mm mesh during the PUCK-156 Expedition (2001) onord R/V Sonne in three res long Chilen cost t three sttions 7103, 7105 nd 7106 (800 1,775 m) off Antofgst (22 S), two sttions 7166 nd 7167 (1,424 2,225 m) off Concepción (36 S) nd three sttions 7174, 7177 nd 7178 (1, m) off Chiloé (42 S) (Tle 1). They were wshed in filtered sewter, fixed in 10% formlin with orx nd plced fter in 70% ethnol. A detiled description of the smpling procedure hs een presented y Arntz et l. (1999). The identifiction ws performed on dried specimens following (Pterson 1985), Stöhr (2005) nd O Hr & Stöhr (2006). The systemtics follows Smith et l. (1995). For the synonyms of the species see Pterson (1985). All specimens were mesured nd photogrphed. The disc dimeter (dd) ws mesured from the edge of inter-rdius cross the dorsl disc to the edge of the opposite rdius (distl edge of the rdil shields where present) ccording to Störh (2005), with Mitsutoyo cliper. In this work we descrie new species nd species found for the first time off the Chilen cost. For the species previously found off the Chilen mrgin nd collected gin during the PUCK Expedition (i.e., Gorgonocephlus chilensis (Philippi), Astrotom gssizii Lymn, Ophiomyx vivipr Studer, Ophiur (Ophiuroglyph) lymni Ljungmn, Amphioplus mgellnic (Mortensen), Ophiomusium iporicum Cstillo-Alárcon nd Ophiomusium lymni (Wyville Thomson) we presented their geogrphicl distriution. The specimens were deposited in the Ntionl Museum of the Federl University of the Rio de Jneiro (EqMN), nd the Federl University of the Sergipe (UFSITAB), Itin Cmpus, Brzil. For the txonomy of the fmily Ophiuride, Pterson s P = L, V formul ws dopted. This llows to descrie the numer of tentcle scles of the rms locted round the pores closer to the disc, where A.P.1 = the first rm pore, A.P.2 = the second rm pore, A.P.3 = the Tle 1. The most undnt species were Ophiocten mitinum etween 1, 424 nd 2,225 m depth, followed y Ophiomusium lymni nd Amphiophiur gllrdoi sp. nov., etween 1,000 nd 1,424 m depth, while ll other species were scrce nd occurred s single or few individuls (Tle 2).
