Lists will be available in livestock areas with class and exhibitor details. The 2017 schedule will be contained within a year book which we are developing, which will include all results from the 2016 show and some photos, please inform the Entry Secretary if you are not happy to have any exhibit photographs used. 4 Dalmally Agricultural Society Rules. 1. The Society shall be known as the Dalmally Agricultural Society. 2. Show areas for 2016 shall be as follows:- a) Cattle confined to the parishes of Glenorchy and Innishail, Kilchrenan, Dalavich, Village of Lochawe, Inveraray, part of the parish of Kilmorich, to north of river Kinglas and part of the parish of Ardchattan east of River Etive to it s junction with Allt Fhaolain and thence along parish boundary to its junction with the parish of Glenorchy. b) Cattle Open. c) Sheep Confined as (a) above. d) Sheep Open. e) Crooks and Sticks Confined to North and South Lorn and the parish of Inveraray, Glenaray and Kilmorich. f) Crooks and sticks open. g) All other sections Open. 3. Membership is open to all. Subscriptions for full membership will be 6.00 payable to the Treasurer or Entry Secretary by closing date for entries. Members are admitted to the Show free of charge on production of their membership tickets. Otherwise full entry is applicable. 4. Any number of stock entries may be made. All livestock exhibitors must be members. Entry fees (per entry) are as follows: Cattle and Sheep (all classes) 2.00, Dogs (paid on field) 2.00, Poultry 1.00, Children s classes (paid on field) 0.50, all other classes st, 2nd and 3rd prize-winner's in the confined cattle and sheep classes will automatically be eligible to enter the corresponding classes in the open sections. 6. Competitors will lodge their entries in writing with the Entry Secretary by the 15th August. Late entries will be accepted but will incur a 5 per exhibitor late entry fee. 7. All livestock entries must be owned by the exhibitor at least 3 months prior to the Show. 8. All vegetables must have been grown by the exhibitor, all baking, knitting, produce, jams, sticks etc. must be the work of the exhibitor and not exhibited previously at Dalmally Show. 9. Only amateurs will be allowed to compete in all sections other than livestock sections. 10. Riggs or chasers are not eligible. 11. No animal can be exhibited for a special prize which has not been shown in its class. 12. All bulls and pedigree cattle are to be led. 13. No hard teeth permitted in animals exhibited in calf classes. Two hard teeth only permitted in animals exhibited in classes for young heifers and bulls. Four hard teeth only permitted in animals exhibited in classes for two year old heifer and bulls. 14. Only one person allowed in judging ring with cattle. 4

5 15. All exhibits must be placed in the show yard by 9.30am except crooks and sticks and photographs by 10.30am and dogs at 2.00pm. The committee will be in attendance from 9am to receive and place exhibits. EXHIBITS MUST NOT BE REMOVED BEFORE 4PM unless special permission has been obtained from the relevant steward. All non-livestock exhibits must be removed by 5pm st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and HC prizes will be awarded in cattle and sheep classes, The points in cattle and sheep classes shall be 7, 5, 3 and 1 in the event of a tie the number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be taken into account. In all other classes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and HC will be awarded. The points shall be 5, 3 and 1 in the event of a tie the number of HC awards will be taken into account. 17 Any exhibitor or his representative refusing to accept the judge s placing in any class will be disqualified. All disputes will be settled by President, Secretary and relevant Steward: all objections must be lodged by 6pm the day following the Show and a deposit made. The deposit will be forfeited if the objection is not sustained. 18 The Society will not be liable in any claim for loss or damage arising from accidents or otherwise at or in connection with the show. 19 A donation of not less than 10% will be made to the Society from the sale of exhibits. 20 All trophies to be returned to the Secretary one month prior to date of Show. 21 Shared ownership must be declared on entry form. 22 All animals shown in a group must belong to a single exhibitor. Any person entering stock at Dalmally Show is accepted with the understanding that they are agreeing to abide by the society rules as outlined above in addition to the conditions detailed below. 1. All exhibitors must ensure that all of the following details are given to the entry secretary on entering livestock: Name of owner, Full address and telephone number, CPH number and flock/herd number and details of any stock handlers. Any changes to details provided must be given to the secretary before Show day. 2. Cattle within animal health schemes must be reported to the Entry Secretary and a copy of the relevant certificate sent/ ed to the entry secretary no later than 2 week before the show to ensure IBR rules are applied on Show day. 3. Sheep that are part of the scrapie monitoring scheme must be individually listed on the entry form (class and tag number) and must not be pregnant, not have lambed within 30 days prior to the Show and not be subject to procedures that change the seasonal breeding pattern. 4. Exhibitors must adhere to the Transportation of Animals (cleansing and disinfection) (Scotland) Regulations

6 5. Separate movement documentation must be completed in full to move sheep to the Show and home, and sent to SAMU. 6. All livestock must be double tagged according to current regulations. 7. Cattle passports must accompany all cattle to the Show and be presented to the cattle steward before judging, no animal without a passport can be unloaded and penned. 8. All exhibitors must be aware of their responsibility in maintaining the safety of the public when moving animals 9. Exhibitors must comply with any additional regulations as set down by the Scottish government which are in force on Show day. LIVESTOCK EXHIBITOR REGULATIONS SHOW CPH 68/171/8000 Poultry regulations Exhibitors of Poultry must comply with regulations as set out by the State Veterinary Division in accordance with Avian Influenza (preventive measures) (Scotland) Order All exhibitors must cleanse and disinfect cages/crates/baskets used to transport birds to the Show ground. At the Show all litter and manure within cages or baskets must be contained until disposal, any spillages outside the cage must be cleansed and disinfected immediately. Litter and manure must be disposed of in a manner which does not present a risk of spread of diseases i.e. in a sealed bad for normal refuse collection so that other birds do not have direct access to it. 2. The exhibitor must ensure that they provide the entry secretary with their home and business address (if different), and any details of additional addressed bird exhibits have been kept in the 28 days prior to the Show. Any birds sold on Show day must be reported to the secretary with details of new owner (name and address). 6

15 CHOCOLATE AND BEETROOT CAKE INGREDIENTS 100ml rapeseed oil, plus extra for greasing, 175g (drained weight) vacuum-packed beetroot (not in vinegar, 175g dark soft brown sugar, 200g self-raising flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, 50g cocoa powder, 200g 0% fat natural yogurt, 2 tsp vanilla extract. For the icing, 100g icing sugar, 50g dark chocolate (at least 80% cocoa solids), 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 3 tbsp skimmed milk, dark chocolate shavings, to serve (optional). METHOD Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Grease and line a deep 20cm spr ingform cake tin with baking parchment. Tip the beetroot into a food processor and whizz to a purée. Add the remaining ingredients, along with ¼ tsp salt, and blend until well combined. Scrape into the cake tin, level the surface and bake for 50 mins-1 hr or until a skewer comes out clean. Leave the cake to cool in the tin while you make the icing. Put the ingredients in a small saucepan, heat and whisk until smooth. Cool for 20 mins. Flip the cake onto a wire rack, flat-side up. Pour over the icing and leave to cool completely. Sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings (if using), then serve.
