10 Talking Breeding - Stud Profile US breeder, John Kelly sent us through some background information on Kelsos Cork Man this week. KELSOS CORK MAN is a virtual repository of the finest in classic, exported Australian bloodlines, and especially of Chief Havoc blood. His direct female line traces all the way back to Fawn Rita, who is also the foundation dam to Flying Penske, well known to most Australians. Along the way we pass Kelsos Kimmage, the third dam to Cork Man. Kelsos Kimmage is bred strongly to the famous Australian, Elsie Moss damline, her grandsire, being K s Flak (Max Moss x Montague Memory), who is also a great grandson of the Australian, Tell You Why, perhaps the most influential sire in modern US breeding. Her fourth damsire, Joe Moss, is a full sibling to Max Moss. With a Flying Penske ( x Tell You Why) topline, and a damline that traces back to the finest American Derby winning bloodlines of the Orville Moses breeding dynasty, which was based upon liberal and prolific crosses of US and Australian blood, Kelsos Cork Man is a logical addition to the Australian gene pool. From very limited opportunities and with only a handful of track age pups, Kelsos Corm Man has already produced one of the most promising and accomplished young greyhounds in the US, multiple top grade winner at the tough Wheeling venuw, Kelsos Ukelele, whose damsire, not surprisingly, is Trent Lee (x Brett Lee). Frozen Semen for Kelsos Cork Man is available from the Walnut Vet Clinic in Canbourne, Call (03) Kelsos Cork Man $ 825 incl gst Ganle Dodge, the damsire to Cork Man, is bred along these same lines, being a direct male line descendant of Tell You Why, through the great, Downing. Kelsos Fergal $ 550 incl gst Nashapelli $1925 incl gst (See pages for further information) Dutch Bahama, the damsire to Gable Dodge, carries Thunderbolt Moss as his second damsire, another son of Elsie Moss, he being by Magic Babe, a full sibling to Tell You Why

11 Talking Breeding - New South Wales Talking Breeding New South Wales THIS week s review of litters selected from the NSW Whelping Report for the week ending 30 September, starts with a nice litter of seven pups, by the well bred, 2015 Group 2 Healesville Cup winner, Allkel To Excel (February 2015 Elite State x Kingabrae Di). 18 *Andrew Copley is on leave Aston Kimetto s barnstorming Ballarat triumph By Gerard Guthrie Blue Striker Aston Kimetto powered hime to defeat Dyna Hunter in a thrilling finish to the Ballarat Cup Powerhouse blue-blood Aston Kimetto enhanced his perfect record on one-turn tracks to eight from eight with a barnstorming victory in the Group 2 Ballarat Volkswagen Cup Final (450m) on Saturday night. A son of former champion stayer Sweet It Is, Aston Kimetto presented trainer Seona Thompson and owner Ray Bordawith back-to-back Ballarat Cup celebrations after the prolific combination reigned supreme with Melbourne Cup hero Aston Dee Bee in I knew the dog was a good chance tonight because I wasn t there, Ray Borda laughed. I m at a 50th birthday in Adelaide and I m going overseas tomorrow but I watched the race on my phone and I think I m the happiest person at the party! I ve just spoken to Jason Thompson (Seona s husband) from Dallas in the United States. It s four o clock in the morning over there. Aston Kimetto was the joint fastest qualifier for the $47,000 to-the-winner Cup Final after a 24.96sec heat victory at his Ballarat debut and he was sent out the $4.30 second elect from box three, behind Brooke Ennis rails runner Belt Up Bubbs at $4.10. After a customary tardy getaway, Aston Kimetto was at the rear of the field as Dyna Hunter ($6.90) crossed to the lead and dashed clear. Dyna Hunter appeared to have the Cup in his keeping but Aston Kimetto stormed home rekindling memories of his superstar dam Sweet It Is as he bloused Dyna Hunter by.29 of a length in 24.94sec. The Wheeler family would be getting sick of the Gerard Guthrie sight of Aston Kimetto as the Ballarat Cup was a virtual carbon copy of his Group 2 Geelong Gold Cup triumph, where he also exited box three and came from last to finish over the top of another Wheeler-raced speedster in Orson Allen. When Dyna Hunter was six in front I was thinking to myself that Dyna Hunter is not weak and I was hoping we could run second, Borda said. He s a frustrating dog because he just can t begin but he s very smart in a field. Ability wise he s right up there with any dog I ve owned but as far as being a race dog goes, it s two different stories, and Aston Dee Bee had it all. Aston Kimetto has now won 10 of his 19 starts and he s remarkably undefeated in eight appearances on one-turn circuits, highlighted by a hat-trick of feature race successes in the Ballarat and Geelong Cups and Group 3 Warragul St. Leger. Aston Kimetto takes centre stage at the Group 2 Ballarat Cup presentation Boxing Day picnic at the races in Horsham The Horsham Greyhound Racing Club will be hosting its annual Boxing Day Picnic at the Races. Greyhound fans are invited to celebrate the holiday season at the Horsham Showgrounds by bringing a picnic and coming out with the whole family for summer racing, cricket and kids entertainment. There will be free entry, a beer garden, café and plenty of prizes to be won. The races and kids entertainment begin at 3pm

19 Shima Breeze stellar in Laurels heats By Jason Adams Pic - Jason Adams South Australian visitor, Shima Breeze, pictured with trainer Tony Rasmussen after setting the pace in the Group 2 Laurels heats Copley s Corner South Australian sprinter Shima Breeze stole the show at Sandown Park this afternoon with the fastest Laurels heat win. She ran a quick when defeating Flossing in the opening heat of the day. I m not surprised by the time, she trialed really well at Angle Park on Monday night, said trainer Tony Rasmussen after the win. The sport s most promising youngster Black Opium continued the amazing start to her career, as she claimed her heat in It was her 9th win from 10 career starts with her only defeat coming in last month s TAB Melbourne Cup final. Circle Of Dreams put the cherry on top of a memorable week for trainer Angela Langton, upstaging short priced favourite Federal Lilly. South Australian Oaks winner My American Girl was dominant in her heat and completed a successful day for trainer Andrew Paraskevas. He had two runners engaged at Healesville plus one at Sandown, and fortunately won them all. The powerful Sweet As Emm was terrific in the penultimate heat. She came from mid-field to run down the flying Time To Talk late. Often Imitated claimed the final heat of the day for young trainer Brad Greenough. Semi-finals of the time honoured Laurels will be conducted next Sunday. Five times the charm for Hasten Slowly By Molly Haines It was a case of fifth time lucky for Hasten Slowly who finally claimed his first Group 1 win in the Sky Racing Brisbane Cup at Albion Park on Thursday night. The son of Fernando Bale and Heidi Go Seek has finished second in four of his five Group 1 attempts which includes the Topgun, Winter Cup, Australian Cup and National Sprint. Hasten Slowly surprised everyone including owner, trainer and breeder Angela Langton when he jumped cleanly to the front in the Brisbane Cup from box three. He was well drawn close to the fence, Langton said. He stumbled out of the boxes a bit last week and to win the Cup he needed to begin better and that is exactly he did. I was pleasantly surprised when he began so well, and I knew it would take a pretty good to run him down because he does have strength on his side. Hasten Slowly paid a staggering $8.70 on the TAB tote phenomenal, considering he claimed the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic at the track and distance in June. Victoria was heavily represented in the 2018 $75,000 to-the-winner, Sky Racing Brisbane Cup; Miss Splendamiro was the pre-race favourite from box two. The David Geall trained greyhound missed the start and couldn t find the lead finishing in third position. Dyna Chancer (box eight) for Correy Grenfell and Not Available (box five) for Robert Britton finished sixth and seventh respectively. The Brisbane Cup win was a special one for Langton who was born, raised and worked in Queensland before greyhound racing bought her to Victoria. It is always special to win on your home track, Langton said. Extra special because we reared and raced his mother (Heidi Go Seek) and bred, reared and raced Hasten Slowly s litter too. It was a great night for the Fernando Bale x Heidi Go Seek litter, with litter sister Go Seek Heidi recording a victory at Sandown while litter brother Go Seek Fernando ran second. 22 Traralgon meetings transferred due to track closure Tuesday, 11 December, 2018, by Greyhound Racing Victoria The upcoming meetings at the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club (TGRC) have been transferred due to continued drainage issues on the track. GRV Media Release The TGRC track was closed in October 2018 due to sub -surface drainage issues; the club installed a new drain line under the rail to remove the surface water and the track resumed meetings on December 6. However, the attempt to resolve the issue was unsuccessful and the club has had to close its doors once again until the track issues have been sufficiently resolved. As a result, the following meetings have been transferred to other greyhound racing clubs: Friday, 14 December 2018 (TAB NIGHT) transferred to Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club Monday, 17 December 2018 (TAB TWILIGHT) transferred to Healesville and changed to a DAY meeting Please note: As a result of the above change, the Ballarat meeting on Monday, 17 December has been moved from a DAY meeting to a TWILIGHT meeting. Friday, 21 December 2018 (TAB NIGHT) transferred to Warragul Greyhound Racing Club In addition to the drainage issues, the GRV s Safe Racing Initiative identified other issues with the Traralgon racing track including unsafe 395m and 665m box starts; consequently, these starts were removed for the foreseeable future. TGRC will be working with GRV consultants and engineers to fix the track s drainage issues and to develop a plan for future renovations. Prior to discovering that the track s drainage system required further work, Traralgon s club manager, Steve Clark, acknowledged the club s obligation with regards to the Gippsland Carnival during an interview with RSN s Country Notice Board and noted the club s responsibility to meet those obligations with a safe track for the Traralgon Cup on 26 January. I hope that people out there understand, we do have animal welfare issues at the forefront of our minds and we want to make the track as safe as possible moving forward, he said. In order to do this, the club will be working hard to resolve the track s drainage issues; they intend to address the GRV s additional concerns following their leg of the Gippsland Carnival and expect to be closed for further renovations in the New Year. 27 National Greyhound Draft to revolutionise greyhound racing By David Brasch and Andrew Copley Sunday 16 December will herald a brand-new day for greyhound racing thanks to the unearthing of the world s first National Greyhound Draft, to be aired live on Sky Racing from 10am. Greyhound Clubs Australia, with the support of Greyhound Syndicating Services, will conduct the inaugural Draft, an innovative concept that sees the formation of 10 syndicates racing three greyhounds each. The Draft will be broadcast nationally with unprecedented media exposure of greyhound syndication. Sandown Greyhound Racing Club CEO Greg Miller is the brains behind the Draft, and he has the support of some of the greatest trainers in the country, as well as media leaders and major owners. The National Greyhound Draft isn t a money-making exercise, prompting outsiders to ask Greg what Sandown is getting out of it. It was mentioned to me that surely this is not the role of a race club, but I, and the Sandown GRC, believe it surely is. We will do anything we can to help this industry prosper. We all need to see the bigger picture here. The National Greyhound Draft is a world first, as an industry we should be proud of that, he said. The role of race clubs has changed, as has the participants. We need to grow our base and there is no better way than appealing to the next generation than through syndication. I applaud the Trainers and Owners who have taken on this responsibility and applied to contribute. The concept 30 untried greyhound pups no older than 11 months of age will form the draft pool. The pups have been purchased by the Sandown GRC upon recommendation from respected racing identity, George Farrugia. The pups have been reared at leading rearing farms in NSW and Tasmania. Syndicates Structure The 10 syndicates will be headed by six trainers, two owners and two media representatives. Each syndicate will select three greyhounds. The trainers who are leaders of their syndicates will train their three greyhounds. The other four syndicates have been allocated a trainer for each of their dogs. Syndicate Leaders Andrea Dailly Trainer (Vic) Ashlee Terry Trainer (Vic) Robert Britton Trainer (Vic) Ben Rawlings Trainer (SA) Peter Lagogiane Trainer (NSW) Tom Tzouvelis Trainer (Qld) Ray Borda Owner (SA) (Trainers: Anthony Azzopardi, Paul Abela & Troy Murray) GRV News Peter Cameron Owner (WA) (Trainers: Angela Langton, Tony Brett & Andrew Crouch) James Van de Maat Media (Radio RSN) (Trainers: Matt Lanigan, Brendan Pursell & Kate Gorman) Troy Little Media (Radio SEN) (Trainers: Jason Sharp, Ian Garland & Glenn Rounds) Note: Trainers were selected by a panel of experts from around Australia comprising Luke Gatehouse (CEO Brisbane Club); Michael Floyd (Racing and Media Manager Sandown); Ellen Harris (Operations Manager NSW GBOTA) & David Simonette (Executive Officer Greyhound Clubs Australia) How the draft will work Each syndicate s Team Leader will draw their place in the draft and nominate the greyhound they wish to draft with each selection. The draft will be conducted as a Z formation draft. Selections for each team will be as follows: Team 1: 1, 20, 21; Team 2: 2, 19, 22; Team 3: 3, 18, 23; Team 4: 4, 17, 24; Team 5: 5, 16, 25; Team 6: 6, 15, 26; Team 7: 7, 14, 27; Team 8: 8, 13, 28; Team 9: 9, 12, 29; Team 10: 10, 11, 30. The 30 pups in the Draft are members of the following litters: Black Magic Opal Absolute Stunna; Black Magic Opal Velocity Sheba; Fernando Bale Ainsley Bale; Bella Infrared Benta Bale; Barcia Bale Saving Bundles; Black Magic Opal Invictus Reign; Barcia Bale Angie Rocks; Premier Fantasy Mepunga Hayley; Barcia Bale Mepunga Fame; Thirty Talks Dark Casio; KC And All Reshuffle; Fernando Bale Lainey Bale; Barcia Bale Blame The Fame; Fernando Bale Timtams For Bams. How you can buy in Syndication shares are available for $2,550, but there are only 200 on offer.
