Best Adult Handler 1st place Kim Burrier and Flyer" the Airedale 2nd place Jessica Walter and Jade the English Setter 3rd place Elizabeth Woolford and Twister the Brittany (photo of all 3 club members) On Sunday, March 1st, YABTC held their Annual Conformation Fun Match. Saturday afternoon, the clean-up crew was lead by Dale and Kim Burrier. The floors were scrubbed, rings were set and it looked like a show was about to take place on the inside. Mother Nature had her own intentions on the outside, we were hit with 4-6 inches of snow in the morning, but as they say, the show must go on. We had a very nice turnout considering the weather conditions. There were approximately 50 puppies that showed and 20 that were pre-entered and did not show, most likely due to the weather. Sue Bell manned the Raffle Table, which was small but made a nice little profit for the club. Diana also did double duty as one of our judges! Thank you to Butch Redman who had the honors of being our other judge. Also Thanks to Perri Graf, Kim and Dale Burrier, Liz Woolford, Lisa Sangregario, Sue Davis, Georgianne Doyle, Sue and Donn Bell and Jessica Walter. It takes a TEAM to make these events happen! 3 Shout Out to our Agility Trial Committee! - By Sandy Irish YABTC hosted the first 2015 agility trial at the Niles Wellness Center on March 15 and 16. It was a big two ring trial and we had several club members come out to help and work at the trial. Even some new faces! Yippee! I want to personally thank my Trial Committee, super group that they are! They put in so many hours and long days and I appreciate them SO much. I also want to thank members who came to load and unload the trailer, set-up and take down, and all the others who give their time as a donation to this club. We are truly blessed to have so many who unselfishly give hours upon hours to make events happen. Volunteerism is alive and well at YABTC! We had several good comments at the trial and hopefully everyone had a good time and Q'd with their dogs. Isn't that what it is all about? Thank you to ALL of you who came to help. I won't name names because I would surely miss someone! Now mark your calendars for the June 20 & 21 trial at the Well again. It will be here before we know it! "A wonderful blend of your dog's favorite tastes all in one treat!" Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a medium bowl, stir together the wheat germ, milk powder, egg, yeast and liver baby food. Add water if necessary to make a workable dough. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. 3. Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from cookie sheet to cool on wire racks. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Borrowed from allrecipes.com Homemade Dog Treat Recipe Boo's Biscuits 3 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 2 cup Quaker oats 1 cup milk 1/2 cup hot water 2 beef or chicken bouillon cubes 1/2 cup meat drippings Dissolve bouillon cubes in hot water. Add milk and drippings and beat. In a separate bowl, mix flour and oatmeal. Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and mix well. Press onto an ungreased cookie sheet and cut into shapes desired. Bake at 300 for 1 hour. Turn off heat and leave in the oven to harden. Refrigerate after baking. Caught In the Act! 4 Lee Jackson Award! JoAnn Fedyski is the recipient of the 2015 Lee Jackson Award. She spends many hours volunteering and is a dedicated member of YABTC. JoAnn answers calls and s from individuals wanting to register for agility classes. She records the information, and checks to see which classes are filled and which still have available openings. She also keeps track of the registrants' payments. JoAnn opens the building and supervises the "Fun Runs" every Sunday from 7:30 to 10:00 AM so that members at all skill levels of agility have the opportunity for extra practice. In the summer and early fall, she organizes and conducts the agility games on Sunday afternoons. This helps handlers become familiar with the courses and rules of AKC, CPE, USDAA, and other venues. JoAnn is the instructor for the Saturday morning Agility II class and assists with other classes. She's a member of the agility cleaning crew that cleans our building on Tuesdays every other month. She is a great encourager, especially to young people new to the sport. She shares personal equipment, DVD's, and magazines with those interested in learning more about agility. Her dedication helps our agility program run more smoothly, and she's an asset to our club. 9 Agility Classes Agility classes for the second session of 2015 For club members, JWW, Agility 1, Agility 2, Agility 3 and Advance Agility classes will be $24 for an 8 week class, Intro and Beginner classes are $50. ** Checks must be received by the registrar at least two weeks in advance to reserve a spot in class. ** For registration and questions about agility classes contact JoAnn Fedyski at dodgem2@neo.rr.com Interested in Agility? If you wish to become an active member of the agility program, please come join us at our next Agility Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 6:00-8:00. All are welcome. Agility Practice If you are a club member, you are welcome to practice agility on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. until noon on the weeks that we have agility class. There is no fee and there are experienced handlers available to answer any questions you may have. NOTE: There will be NO agility practice on Sunday April 5 because of our Obedience trial. There will be NO agility practice on Sunday April 19 because of the Steve Schwartz Agility Seminar. There will be NO agility practice on Sunday May 17 because the building is rented. ** Attention All Agility Students ** There is no agility class the following weeks during the second session: There is no class April 2-6 because of our Obedience trial. There is no class April because of the Steve Schwartz Agility Seminar. We are providing open gym time for all agility students on Monday morning, April 6. The building will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We ask that the students help put the equipment away and the ring gating back up when the open gym is over. 10 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those students that are there in the evening to practice we ask that you help Rae and Bill put the equipment away. There will be no fee for this practice time and it is open to all agility students enrolled in the second session. ******* Agility Seminars ******* There will be four Agility seminars by Steve Schwarz from the Agility Nerd offered April 18 and 19 at YABTC. All working spots are filled, but there is still room for those of you that want to audit a seminar. Auditing spots are $30 for a half day and $50 for a full day.
