Box 397 North Jackson, Oh Sum-Sum-Summer time Brags From Marla Belzowski From Tyne Horvath With summer in full swing, The LegendHold Collies drew many alternate slots at the Cleveland Shetland Sheepdog Herding Trials at the beginning of June, but at least got a few runs. Bradley, Bardar and Lhotse each picked up a first HSAs (Herding Started A Course on sheep) leg with respectable scores. Bradley did well enough to earn a 4 th place placement. Now we have the rest of the summer to train for those big fall herding trials! From Kimi Shaffer Our 18 month old pup received 3 titles this month (May 2028)! She passed her ATTS temperament test with flying colors, received her Coursing ability title, and had 5 qualifying competition splashes which earned her Dock Novice title! She is now Multi v-1 rated, IntCh, NatCh, Keepin' the Faythe vom Starkhaus CGC, TT, CA, DN. HONEY WEIMARANERS: "CH Honeys Valkyrie Crystal Sands,OA,OAJ,NF,TKN" finished her Open Standard Agility Title, with a 1'st place & 100 Pts. on at YABTC Agility Trial in Niles, OH. It took TEAM WORK! Owned & handled by Tyne Horvath. P.S. Her two daughters, "Honeys Valkyrie Starr Sapphire, CGC" & "Honeys Valkyrie Rare Ruby, CGC" both competed their CGC Titles at YABTC on We couldn't be any more proud! From Tyne Horvath Caren & Gary Vicich lost their Rottweiler, Tonka, from megasophagus (not sure I spelled that correctly) Janet & Bob Yosay lost their 14 year old Labrador, Raven. Tribute to Rush and Mae From Marla Belzowski Mae LegendHold Come Up N See Me CD, RN 09/28/2005 6/11/2018 Shipman s Once in a Blue Moon Gypsy held up to her name and earned her Open Jumpers title at the YABTC Agility Trial in Niles. Ruby also earned her 2nd leg in open jumpers and they both earned a leg in Novice FAST. We had a pretty good day with 4 blue ribbons against good competition. Also, I d like to give a great big Thank You to all the workers that made our June Agility trial a success. We received several complements about how well the show was run. It is all the workers who make this possible. Welfare On June 11 th, Marla Belzowski lost her Collie Mae, LegendHold Come Up N See Me CD, RN and soon after, on June 30 th she also lost Mae s litter brother, Rush, LegendHold Talent on Loan CD, HSAd, RE. Both were just shy of 13 years old. Mae was my Blue Puppy She was the last of 9 puppies from a C-Section and was bright blue from lack of oxygen. We all thought she wouldn t make it, but her mother Ariel never gave up on her. She thrived, though for the first 5 weeks of her life she showed signs of oxygen deprivation. She ofter staggered to one side, walk off stairs and decks, and was the only dog I have had who could literally cross her eyes. Her grandmother Indy adored her. Her mother taught her to be the best Puppy trainer. Auntie-Mae would play with puppies and still put them in their place. She finished her CD and RN in 6 straight shows without messing up anything. Mae was always a free spirit, three times wandering away from the yard or getting stuck on the other side of my fence (how she got through I never could figure out), but never really going more than a few doors down to visit neighbors. If it was quiet in the house, she was generally up to something naughty! She was one of structurally and genetically one of the most perfect collies I ever had in a litter, but sadly she was never able to have puppies. Run free Mae-Mae. 3 Rush LegendHold Talent on Loan CD, HSAd, RE 09/28/2005 6/30/2018 Rush wanted to go on, but his body couldn t. I lost him June 30 th, just shy of 2 years after the lightening strike. Run Free Rush.You were one of the most talented dogs I have ever had. I hope you son Bradley does you proud. Shout OUT! It is not often you have more than one heart dog, but Rush was my dog Wolfie re-incarnated. Rush was so much like his great grand father. He looked like him, he acted like him, and he had the same obedience and herding talent. Rush finished his CD with huge scores and placed 1 st and 2 nd on two of his legs. He finished his Herding Started A course duck title in just 3 shows with placements at 10 years old. His titles ROM-P d his mother Ariel and father Everest. Rush was always happy-man. He was always willing to go and do anything at any time. He sired only one litter and left me a son to work with. Unfortunately he was in my silver van when it was struck by lightning in front of the club on July 6, 2016 (a Thursday). I didn t know it at the time, but the electrical current literally cooked his digestive tract. We finished his first leg of his RE that following Saturday, but he collapsed shortly afterwards and spent 4 days in intensive care. The van took 8 months to recover from the insurance company. Rush pulled through and we finished his last two RE legs even though he really couldn t jump, but long term the damage had been done. He had neurological issues from that point on. To anyone caught in a lightning storm, do not believe you are protected in a car or truck from a strike. WHEN WONDERFUL PEOPLE COME TOGETHER I would personally like to extend a huge THANK YOU!!! to all the great YABTC club members, exhibitors and spectators that supported the raffle at our June trial at the Wellness Center in Niles. Thanks to donations from our club members, we had a great raffle table set-up for 3 days in a row! The total amount raised was $630! The trial was dedicated to the memory of Dave Beach who passed away suddenly and unexpectantly on May 19th. Within hours of me getting the call to pick up Cloud, David s beloved Collie, Cheryl and Firmin Alden agreed to give her a home. At first they said on a trial basis, for a few days, but I think she is there to stay! Cloud was due for some veterinary care and Cheryl and Firmin are taking care of that. The money from the raffle will be donated to them to help pay for those bills. And to top it all off, Cheryl and Cloud ran together as a team the last day of our trial! Great job! I think Dave is smiling in heaven knowing that his beloved girl has found a great new home, with a family that will love her, care for her, and let her continue to play her favorite sport: AGILITY! 6 Did someone say Picnic! JULY PICNIC INFORMATION The annual YABTC picnic and meeting on Friday, July 21th starting at 4:00P.M. We will have a program this year with Nosework at the topic starting at 4:00 PM. Dinner will not begin until 6:30 PM to allow those working this day time to arrive. Turn Right (West) on Ellsworth Rd. and follow it across the lower portion of Lake Milton on up to a Five Way Stop. Imagine you are coming in at seven (7) on the clock. Cross intersection to leave at two (2). It appears at this intersection, the old stagecoach road Ellsworth changed its name there to Scotts Corners Road. We are up the road on the left.3 mile. You will see signs at our entrance. PICNIC INFO Bring a dish to share, your beverage and table setting. The club will provide the meat for the picnic. Changes may be necessary based on instructor availability and student need. Agility Classes for the Fourth Session of 2017 For club members, most agility classes are $24 for an 8-week class. Intro and Beginners classes are $50 for members. **Payment must be received by the Registrar (Nichole Graham) at least two weeks in advance to reserve a spot in a class** For registration questions, contact Nichole Graham at yabtcagilityregistrar@gmail.com Sunday Agility Practice Pat Goodwin Instructor If you are a club member and have been cleared (tested or have taken Agility 1) for safety on all the equipment, and your dog has been temperament tested by a of the Training Director, you are welcomed to practice agility from 10:00 AM until noon on Sundays. Please plan on arriving no later than 11:30 AM as Agility Practice ends at Noon. If Sunday Agility Practice (Fun Runs) has to be cancelled, the cancellation will be posted on the YABTC Facebook page as soon as possible.
