Box 397 North Jackson, Oh Results from the Spring Fun Match Ron Smith and his Norwegian Elkhound, Dannon, Best Senior Puppy in Match - Judge Pat Zapf We had another successful Conformation Fun Match on February 25, There were a total of 63 dogs entered in both breed and handling. The Capricultruists goat club provided delicious quiche, stuffed pepper soup, hot dogs and desserts, earning their club $200. Exhibitors enjoyed a couple vendors along with a small but plentiful Ticket Raffle! Fun was had by all who attended. Star received her BN title at the Dog Obedience Club of Lee County trial in Punta Gorda, FL on Jan. 27, Thank you to Judge Isabella Hutton for her 2nd place award to Star with a 194. We then traveled to Jupiter, FL where Star received her Trick Dog Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced titles on Feb. 11, 2017 at the Jupiter Tequesta Dog Club. On Feb.14th Star received her Trick Dog Performer Title. Thank you to CGC Evaluator, Maureen Parsons. These Trick Dog titles are so much fun and more challenging than I expected. "CH Honeys Valkyrie Crystal Sands, NA,OAJ,NF,TKN" On at YABTC, Ziggy & Crystal (father & daughter) both earned their "NOVICE TRICK DOG TITLE" & their "ACHIEVER DOG CERTIFICATE" due to their Versatility (qualifying in 3 or more different dog sports). Way To Go Versatile Weims!!! Owned, trained & handled by Tyne Horvath. From Pam Frank I guess the sunny south agrees with Star, aka Starbucks Never Too Sweet, BN, RE, THD, CGCU, TDP. From Janet Moore My Shetland Sheepdog Janremlo Buster Is Lucky BN, RE, TKA, CGCA got his AKC Trick Dog Novice, AKC Trick Dog Intermediate, and AKC Trick Dog Advanced Titles in February. Along with this he got an Achiever Dog Certificate for competing in three venues. He got his trick titles through Do More With Your Dog. My Shetland Sheepdog Janremlo Krystal Tobias RN, TKN, CGCA got his AKC Trick Dog Novice Title and Community Canine at the YABTC evaluation day. From Sue Davis GCHB Brio s Grand Master Flash at Darkside CGC (Flash) was selected as Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York City on Feb 12th. Welfare Susan Fithian lost Dreamer, her Keeshond, a few months shy of 12 years of age. Carol and Walt Sescourka lost Owen. Lisa and Jeff Sangregorio lost Stormy. Dauntless Zololtia s Fear Nothing CDX RAE BN GN CA 06/14/2010 to 02/06/2018 My lovely boy is gone much too soon, my heart is broken in a million pieces. He is gone much too soon. Damn that cancer. 6 YABTC AGILITY TRIAL WORKERS NEEDED!! Saturday and Sunday March 17 and 18, 2017 The Well in Waddell Park Hi Everyone, Our first Agility Trial of 2018 is in less than two weeks!! We're scheduling workers for our upcoming March Agility Trial. PLEASE come out to help us make this trial a BIG success!! This is a two-ring trial and we will have to fill approximately 200 worker slots each day. So Please Volunteer in Advance!! If you are able to help let me know and provide the following information: 1. Which day(s) can you work? 2. What time can you be at The Well? 3. What time do you have to leave The Well? 4. What jobs do you prefer to do? Scribe, Asst. Scribe, Gate, Timer, Bar Set, Leash/Sheet Run We also need Course Builders 5. Do you have a dog(s) entered in the trial? If so, what day(s), jump height(s), and classes? Do you mind working classes immediately before or after your run(s)? We also need volunteers to help with unloading and set-up on Friday, March 16th, at 3:00 pm, at The Well. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO WORK, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE -- EVEN IF YOU TOLD ME IN PASSING THAT YOU WOULD WORK. We will be developing our workers' schedule from your responses.. 7 Raffle Items needed for the Obedience Trial Alice really needs the following items! Baskets, cellophane bags, ribbons, dog toys, blankets, treats etc.. Or you can always donate a complete gift basket with your favorite theme. Movie-night, Chocolate lovers s, Bed, Bath, and a Homebrew kit? Whatever might make you sit-up-and-beg for tickets! Please try to place your items on the board room table between March 16 th and April 3 rd. Please mark them for Obedience Raffle when you put them on the table in the Board Room STEWARDING AT NEW CASTLE SHOW Barb Wilson has contacted YABTC about providing stewards for the Rally, Obedience, and some Breed rings at the New Castle, PA shows. The dates are May 24 - May 28, You ARE able to show if you want to steward AND they will pay you as well as provide lunch. 8 SPRING RALLY & OBEDIENCE TRIALS It's that time again.. Rally Trial ~ April 6th and Obedience April 7th and 8 th. We need to organize and get ready to put on another great trial. We are in need of helpers for the following: Thursday ~ April 5th ~~ cleaning of the club. Pizza and pop will be provided to those who help. You will also be able to set up your crate after the building is clean. Please Mary (MiMarAkitas@gmail.com) to let her know you will be coming so that we have plenty of pizza for everyone. Friday, Saturday & Sunday ~~ we need helpers with the following Clean-up ~ garbage, bathrooms, and general cleaning each day after the trial; main clean-up Sunday after the trial. Kitchen ~ donating money, water, food, and/or dessert and helping to work the kitchen any (or all) of the days (even a few hours is a huge help!!). Please contact Perri (perri@embarqmail.com) to let her know what you will be donating and if you are able to work the kitchen. Parking ~ volunteers needed. Please contact Donn (DBell1@neo.rr.com) if you are able to help with parking. Raffle ~ donating, making, and helping Alice to work the table. If you have items please bring them and put them in the office with a note for either the Obedience, Rally or Agility Trial, which ever you are donating the item for. Stewarding ~We will need stewards for both rally trials and the Obedience Trial on Friday (3 Rings running), as well as stewards for both Obedience Trials on Saturday and Sunday. 9 Nominations for the Lee Jackson Award! The Lee Jackson Award is given each March to an active and dedicated member of Youngstown All Breed Training Club. Lee Jackson was one of the founding members of Youngstown All Breed Training Club. Lee spent many hours and much of his money to keep this club active. He was known as Mr. Youngstown All Breed and served as president of YABTC for 18 years. Lee was also president of the Mahoning-Shenango Kennel Club. He was an AKC judge and one of three people in the nation to receive the distinguished 1977 Midwest D Ambris Award. In March of 1978, the first Lee Jackson Award was given in honor of him and has become a yearly tradition of YABTC. The award is given to an outstanding person who has served our club. Any member may nominate someone they see as deserving of recognition for their service to the club. Please or pm one of the committee members with your nomination and reasons why you chose your nominee by March 25 th. You can also drop a nomination in Lisa s mailbox at the club. Changes may be necessary based on Instructor availability and student need. Agility Classes for 2018 For club members, most Agility classes are $24 for an 8-week class. Agility Basics, Intro, and Beginners classes are $50 for members. **Payment must be received by the Registrar (Nicole Graham) at least two weeks in advance to reserve a spot in a class.** For registration questions, please contact Nicole Graham at nicole.a.graham@gmail.com. Sunday Agility Practice Pat Goodwin, Instructor If you are a club member and have been cleared (tested or have taken Agility 1) for safety on all the equipment, and your dog has been temperament tested by the Training Director, you are welcomed to practice Agility from 10:00 AM until Noon on Sundays. Please plan on arriving no later than 11:30 AM as Agility Practice ends at Noon. Fun Runs are cancelled for March 18 th due to our Agility Trial. If Sunday Agility Practice (Fun Runs) have to be cancelled, the cancellation will be posted on the YABTC Facebook page as soon as possible.
