2 THE MINUTES MHGRC MEETING- Sept, 25, 2015 By Mardee Kayser The mee>ng was called to order by President Marcy Werner at 7:10 p.m. following a presenta>on by the Foothills Kiwanis Club of Boulder about their service dogs for kids program. Bruce McLean made a mo>on to approve the minutes of the May 2015 mee>ng as they appeared in the NewsleRer. Seconded by Bruce Evanshevski. Passed. Treasurer s Report Kathy Janda sent in her report- the club has $21,621. in the bank. All events except the agility trials have lost money this year. The December Fun Match could result in an addi>onal loss of about $1500. Marcy pointed out that we s>ll need a commiree to look into how the club spends our revenues. Sally Sjobeck, Angela McLean, PaRy Lorence and Marcy volunteered to be on the commiree. They will work with Kathy to determine our normal opera>ng expenses. Right now that amount is es>mated to be about $6500. for insurance, trailers, mee>ng expenses, the awards banquet, and trophies at the Specialty. That does not include any dona>ons, which the club has usually done at the end of the year. We need to be sure we bring in enough money to cover at least these basic amounts. However, the desire would be to con>nue offering all the events on our current schedule because that s the func>on/purpose of the club. Vice- President s Report Pam Biard presented two current membership applica>ons. Gil Malmgren from Longmont co- owns a dog with Kathy Bourland. Leslie Kawamoto is from Ft. Collins. Both new members were approved. COMMITTEE REPORTS Obedience Francie Pusateri sent in a report to no>fy the club that she has hired the judges for Rally and Obedience at the 2016 Western Regional. She s>ll needs judges and stewards for the Dec. Fun Match, and she will start seeking folks for those posi>ons next month. Agility Jim Gregory sent in a report that he has a full commiree for the April agility trial. Kathy Janda has volunteered to chair the July trial and she is seeking commiree members now. Field No report. All the events have ended for this year. Marcy men>oned that a WC/WCX will be offered at next year s Regional Specialty and there will be a JH/SH Test the day before the WC/X. The JR/SH will be Sat and WC/X will be Sunday. S>llroven has been reserved. Conforma>on No report. OLD BUSINESS Angela McLean reported that the 2015 Independent Specialty was a success. She has some lebover grooming leashes ($10.) and crate tags ($5.) for sale. Thanks to Pam Baird for arranging to send a club basket to the 2015 Na>onal Specialty for their silent auc>on. 3 2016 Western Regional Specialty Report. Due to restric>ons on chairpersons showing their dogs, Angela McLean and Lauren Relay will co- chair this event on Thursday and Kathy Bourland will chair it on Friday. All the judges have been hired. Bruce McLean will be in charge of grounds. Boy Scouts have been hired to unload trailers for both obedience and agility. Jenny Rullo will take care of the trophies for the MHGRC Specialty and Kathy Bourland will handle it for the Regional. Ruthie Nordahl will take care of the ribbons. There will be a barbecue dinner on Friday night and Morris Animal Founda>on will sponsor a cheese/ horsdeouvrs party ahead of that which Vickie Carson is helping to arrange. The club has received $2150. from GRCA to help with the expenses of the event. NEW BUSINESS Yahoo List The moderator of the list is no longer a member of the club and this communica>on method has not been used recently. Sally Sjobeck moved to close it down, which was seconded by Bruce Evanshevski. Passed. Marcy will direct the moderator to stop the list. MHGRC Breeder Referral List A complaint has been received from someone who had a nega>ve experience with one of the breeders on the list. In general the club has not monitored the list other than to ensure that anyone listed there was a member in good standing and that they agreed to follow GRCA breeder guidelines. Interac>ons between breeders and puppy families should be independent of the club. Marcy will look for the guidelines created by Jan Owen and Barb Branstad to review the document. Obedience/Conforma>on Trailer Bruce McLean brought up the considera>on that our current trailer does not meet our needs. It is too low and has no front door. 4 Volunteers at Club Events This was discussed again as we need to encourage more club members to par>cipate. Several club members reported methods they learned about from other clubs- ranging from club expulsion if someone did not volunteer to ways to create a signup place for upcoming events. A members only part of the website could be used to solicit help and sign up. Sally Sjobeck moved to get an es>mate for web help to create this part of our website. Deb Ascher is gefng the es>mate. Seconded by Bruce Evanshevski. Passed. Upcoming Events The club Holiday Party will be held Dec. 19 th at Anne Shannon s house. The December Fun Match will include a CCA this year. Bruce McLean, Jan Owen and Ellen Hardin will be the examiners. 24 dogs can enter. Sally Sjobeck is preparing the premium and will send it out soon. The opening date is October 15 and entries will be on a first received basis. The mee>ng was adjourned at 8:55 p.m. AGILITY REPORT CH Jema s Last Of The Mohicans (Hawkeye) RE PAX MXP4 MXPB MJP4 MJPB XFP AX AXJ NF The last 10 times that Hawkeye and Larry Janowiak have shown in agility, they have earned double Qs. Hawkeye earned his Preferred Agility Excellent (PAX), MSP4 and MJP4 at the FRAAD trial the first weekend of September. Since January, Hawkeye has earned 18 Double Qs with both his handlers, Michele and Larry Janowiak. 10 FIELD BY SUSAN FAULKNER Topbrass Road Hazard, Boost o/h Deb Anderson MHGRC hunt test August 29 4 th Junior leg for JH August 30 Earned WC and WCX Happydaugh Celestial Red Sails, Sailor owners Barb Branstad and Sandy Whicker, handled by Sandy MHGRC WCX test Aug 30 Earned his WCX It was a busy year for Sunny Glenmor Elysian Fun in the Sun CDX,RA, SH, WCX,TDI, CCA, VC (Evashevski) which started last fall (2014) with his first Senior Hunt Test Qualification at Foothills Fall RC under Vic Rompa and Joe Brakke including the infamous Water Double in the Dark (WDD)! Next was a pass at Navajo Dam under Charlie Task and Sally Sjobeck followed in May with a Pass at Foothills Spring RC (Marcia Talon and Lawrence Meagher). He earned his Senior Hunter title on June 7 with a pass at Pikes Peak RC under Maurice Cutting and Kevin Long. Together with his other titles, the SH earned Sunny a Versatility Certificate which was awarded in July. In August, Sunny passed the WCX under judges Laura Weinmann and Keith Winch.
