1 GOLDEN RETRIEVER CLUB OF COLUMBUS, OHIO INC. Annual Awards Trophies The GRCCO Award Year runs from December 1 through November 30 of the following calendar year. This allows the Trophy Chairperson enough time to accept applications for trophies from club members, and to verify all information in the Gazette before the trophies are awarded in February. DO NOT SUBMITT INFORMATION PERTAINING TO ACHIEVEMENTS FOR PRIOR AWARDS YEARS, UNLESS IT PERTAINS TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CHALLENGE TROPHY BEING APPLIED FOR, IT WILL BE DISCARDED. Please keep copies of everything you submit. Trophies can only be awarded to members in good standing, has obtained the six (6) required points, own the dog and the dog resides in the members home. A dog who is co-owned and officially resides in the member s home is also eligible for these awards 1

2 Awards Amendment GRCCO Club Activity Points as Approved by the General Membership on April 19, 2007, amended by the GRCCO Board on November 13, 2008 A total of six (6) club points per awards year is required. You must acquire at least three (3) general meeting points, plus three (3) activity points. The Board reserves final vote on any discrepancies. A. General Meetings will count as one (1) point for each meeting attended. The GRCCO Banquet will count as one (1) general meeting point. Your name must appear on the roster sign in sheet to receive a point for said meeting. B. Schedule of Activity Points (Exhibiting at any event does not earn points)* 1 Point: Agility trial committee member, agility trial worker, demonstration participant, fun match worker, fund raiser worker, health clinic worker, judge selection for the spring specialty committee member, members match worker, members' match if co-chairperson, GRCA newsletter article(s) one point maximum, GRCCO newsletter article(s) one point maximum, obedience trial worker, parade participant, rally trial worker, spring specialty worker and WC/WCX worker. (Does not include exhibiting.) 2 Points: Awards chairperson, banquet chairperson, breeder referral chairperson, club clothing chairperson, GRCA Member's Club reporter, health clinic chairperson, hospitality chairperson, judges selection chairperson, librarian, members' match chairperson (if chaired singularly), membership chairperson, newsletter editor, nominating committee member, obedience class instructor per session, Order of the Egg chairperson, program presentation, public education chairperson, spring specialty committee member, sunshine chairperson, training chairperson, trophies chairperson, trophy donation chairperson, WC/WCX committee member and web master. 3 Points: Agility trial chairperson, spring specialty conformation chairperson, spring specialty obedience and rally trial chairperson, WC/WCX chairperson and WC/WCX secretary. 5 TOJUNLAKE S MOHICAN MOLLIE CD MEMORIAL NOVICE A TROPHY This trophy is to be awarded to the Golden Retriever earning the highest average score, using the three (3) legs counting towards an AKC CD title from the Novice A class. This is a non-retiring trophy DONOR: Debbie Lowe IN HONOR OF: Sandig Schon Am-Can CD FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1979 Awards Year SUNNYSIDE KENNEL OPEN A OBEDIENCE TROPHY The purpose of this trophy shall be to encourage GRCCO members to pursue upper level AKC Obedience titles and to award achievement in the Open A class working toward the AKC title of Companion Dog Excellent (CDX). The trophy shall be awarded to the GRCCO member whose Golden Retriever earns the highest average score of the three (3) legs counting towards an AKC CDX titles, from the Open A class. The dog must have been trained by his owner. DONOR: Michael and Karen Elliott FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 2000 Awards Year THE AYRSHIRE KENNEL UTILITY DOG OBEDIENCE TROPHY The purpose of this trophy shall be to encourage GRCCO members to pursue the utility dog title. This trophy shall be awarded to the GRCCO member whose Golden Retriever earned the highest average score of the three (3) legs counting toward an AKC UD title from either the Utility A or a Utility B class. The dog must be trained and handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. 6 THE CARAMEL S AGILITY AND OBEDIENCE TROPHY The purpose of this trophy is to encourage GRCCO members to purse versatility in canine performance events with their dogs. This trophy is to be awarded to the Golden Retriever owned by a member of GRCCO that has amassed the greatest number of points earned in AKC agility and obedience trials during the awards year. Applicants for this trophy must have received at least one qualifying score in both AKC agility and obedience events during the awards year. The dog must be trained and handled by his owner. Points will be awarded in the following manner: AGILITY Points for Placements Points for Titles Earned 1 Qualifying Score, no placement 1 NA, NAJ, NAP, NJP 1.5 Fourth in Class 3 OA, OAJ, OAP, OJP 2 Third in Class 5 AX, AXJ, AXP, AJP 2.5 Second in Class 8 MX, MXJ, MXP, MJP 3 First in Class 10 MACH MACH points or 7+ Double Q s earned during the awards period OBEDIENCE Points for Placements Points for Titles Earned 1 Qualifying Score, no placement 1 CD 1.5 Fourth in Class 3 CDX 2 Third in Class 5 UD 2.5 Second in Class 8 UDX 3 First in Class 10 OTCH 5 35 or more OTCH points earned during the awards period DONOR: Kim and George Knight IN HONOR OF: Cadausus Sweet Caramel CDX, AX, AXJ FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 2006 Awards Year ST. ALBAN S STARFIRE CDX, WC MEMORIAL TROPHY This trophy is to be awarded to the Golden Retriever earning the highest average score, using the three (3) legs counting towards any AKC obedience title, as well as receiving a GRCA recognized field title in the same awards year. In the event a tie occurs, the dog earning the highest obedience title will be awarded the trophy. This is a non-retiring trophy DONOR: Friends of Star IN HONOR OF: St. Alban s Starfire CDX, WC FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1981 Awards Year 6

7 THE SAM TROPHY This trophy is to go to the dog owned by a member of GRCCO that has amassed the greatest number of points earned in AKC obedience trials during the awards year. The dog must be handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. Points are to be awarded in the following manner: 5 points - First in class 4 points Second in class 3 points Third in class 2 points Fourth in class 1 point Qualifying score, not placing This trophy replaced the Desperado Trophy, which replaced the Rusticana Trophy. This is a retiring trophy. DONOR: Ron Briggs ORIGINAL DONOR: Marc and Carol Lowy IN HONOR OF: OTCH Ch. Gi-Ki s Secret Agent FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 2001 Awards Year BENDALE TRI-TROPHY The purpose of this trophy is to promote the Golden Retriever in all three areas of the AKC (GRCA Field) competition: Obedience (tracking included), Bench and Field. In order to be awarded this trophy, an exhibitor must compete in all three (3) areas within one (1) award year, unless the dog has previously earned the ultimate title from a particular area of competition (CH, UD, AFC or FC), in which case will make him eligible for that particular area of competition. Points will be awarded in the following manner: BENCH: *Automatic 1/2 point for a Championship, no matter what year obtained. 1.5 Major Reserve 1.5 Each Championship point 2 Best of Opposite Sex (with minimum of 1 point worth of competition) 4 Best Of Breed 6 Championship 8 Group Placement 10 Best in Show OBEDIENCE: *Automatic 1/2 point for a UD, no matter what year obtained..5 Qualifying Score.5 Veteran and Graduate Novice Placement 1 st 4 th (with a score of 170 or higher 1.5 CD 2 Other Obedience Placement 1 st 4 th excluding OTCH points 3 CDX, TD 6 UD, TDX, OTCH points 8 High in Trial 10 OTCH 7

8 BENDALE TRI-TROPHY - continued FIELD: *Automatic 1/2 point for an AFC or FC, no matter what year obtained..5 Unrecognized WC/WCX, Qualifying Score in a Hunting Retriever Trial 1.5 WC 2 Jr. Hunter Retriever 3 WCX, JAM 4 Sr. Hunting Retriever, Master Hunting Retriever, Placement in a Derby Stakes or qualifying stakes. DONOR: George and Beverly Benua FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1978 Awards Year NORM RUSSELL MEMORIAL PUPPY TROPHY To be awarded each year at the annual awards banquet to the puppy (up to 18 mos.) owned and shown by a club member in good standing, who earns the most points during the awards year. Points will be awarded in the following manner: CONFORMATION 1 All-Breed puppy class win (with competition), Specialty class placement (defeating at least one other dog) 2 Specialty class win, including Sweepstakes (with competition), Reserve Winners 3 Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes, Winners, BW, BOS 4 Best in Sweepstakes 6 Best of Breed, Championship Match Wins 1 All-Breed Group I, Specialty BOS 2 Best In Match (All-Breed or Specialty) OBEDIENCE/AGILITY 1 Each qualify score or leg, Class placement, TDI, CGC 2 Class win 3 TD 6 HIT, TDX Match Wins 2 HIT FIELD.5 JAM 1 Hunting test (per leg), Derby placement 2 First place 3 WC 5 WCX DONATED BY: Friends of Norm FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1999 Awards Year 8

9 WYLWIND GOLDENS TROPHY The Wylwind Goldens Trophy is the Best of Breed trophy and will be awarded to the Golden Retriever that has defeated the greatest total number of Goldens in AKC licensed conformation shows. Points are accumulated according to the total number of Goldens defeated by the individual dog that has been awarded WD, WB, BOW, BOS or BOB. Point accumulation for the year is based on the club award year. This trophy replaces the Christmas Kennel trophy, which replaced the Spannen Kennel Ch. Duckdown s Spannen CD trophy. DONOR: Bruce and Ruth Wylie IN HONOR OF: Am. Can. Ch. Laurell s Man For All Angels OS FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1999 Awards Year KODIAK GOLDENS BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX TROPHY This trophy is to be awarded to the GRCCO member-owned Golden Retriever that is of the opposite sex to the Wylwind Goldens trophy winner and who has defeated the most Goldens during the annual awards year. Points are accumulated for this trophy only after the dog or bitch has gone WD, WB, BOW, BOS or BOB at an AKC point show. Reserve wins do not count towards this trophy. This trophy replaces the Holiday Kennel Best of Opposite Sex Trophy, which was retired because of its deteriorating condition. The trophy was first awarded in DONOR: Jim and Dee Darst IN HONOR OF: Kodiak's Raizen Kane ORIGINAL DONOR: Ron and Judy Glasgow FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 2008 Awards Year CH. CU CURRAN S TO HAVE AND TO HOLD MEMORIAL TROPHY To be awarded to the breeder/owner-handler that amasses the greatest number of points during the GRCCO awards year on any one dog. Points will equal dogs defeated per AKC records in conformation only, by winning WD, WB, BW, BOS or BOB. Only defeats while handled by the breeder/owner will count toward the total. If proof of handling becomes an issue, a win photo will be used to determine the out-come. If no win photo is available, then two witness statements will be required. 10 The Rally Girls Rally Novice Trophy The purpose of this trophy shall be to encourage GRCCO members to pursue the Rally Novice Title. The member whose Golden Retriever earned the highest average score of three legs counting toward an AKC Rally Novice Title from either the A or B class. In the event of a tie, the order of placement within the number of competitors in the class will be the deciding factor for the award. The dog must be trained and handled by the owner or a member of the immediate family. DONORS: The original group of GRCCO members who trained and competed together, referred to as "the Rally Girls" in the years when AKC first recognized Rally Obedience as a titling event. The member whose Golden Retriever earned the highest average score of three legs counting toward an AKC Rally Advanced Title from either the A or B class. In the event of a tie, the order of placement within the number of competitors in the class will be the deciding factor for the award.
