3 MIDWEEK TRAINING Mid-week training is only conducted if instructors are available, the weather is suitable and ground conditions are safe to conduct training. For Agility training there is a minimum number required, see below for criteria. Just like Saturday Training sessions you are expected to wear your Name Tags to training. If training is not to be conducted on the night a notice will be placed on the clubs web site home page: Tuesday Night Obedience & Rally Ring Training Training on this night is conducted for members in classes 4 or above who are considering entering an Obedience or Rally trial. Setup time is 6 pm with training to commence after rings have been set up Trialling members will put you through a trial scenario for the class you are in and offer training tips to help you to improve. Tuesday night training for: March 21 st Wednesday Night Obedience Training Training is alternated each week between Obedience and Agility. Obedience training is conducted on the 2nd and 4 th Wednesday' s of the month for those in Class 2 and above. Inductees can be invited to Wednesday night training at TCC' s discretion. Training is conducted from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Wednesday night Obedience training for: March g th ' Wednesday Night Agility Training Agility training is conducted on the 1 5 1, 3rd and 5 th Wednesday's of the month for those in Class 3 and above and the dog must be a minimum of 15 months of age. You must contact either either Colin Mcinnes on or Brian Bushell on before 5:30pm on the Wednesday to find out if Wednesday agility training is being conducted OR ask either of them at training on the Saturday prior to Wednesday night training. 7 FEATURED MEMBER Heather Taylor, Chief Instructor My name is Heather Taylor and I am currently the chief instructor at Werribee Obedience Dog club. I have been an instructor at the club for about 9 years this time around. I had previously belonged to the club for approximately 8 years and an instructor for 6 years during that period, but I needed to take a couple of years off to care for my families medical issues. I love teaching people to train their dogs to be better canine citizens. I have trained one dog to a title. I have also trained dogs for fun in agility, as well as obedience and I have owned and trained a number of breeds for myself & others. I have mostly owned terrier breeds, but have also owned and trained a Standard Schnauzer, an Australian Cattle dog. I have also trained a friends Australian Shepherd, a few mixed terrier breeds & have assisted friends train Afghans, a Great Dane & a couple of Rottweilers. As well as the dog obedience club my other interests include working as a volunteer in Salvation Army children's ministries and spending time with my family & close friends. I love quiet walks by the beach, walking through beautiful forests & when I have time sewing small quilts & gifts to give to friends. I also love to do crafts when I can. 8 WEERAMA PARADE As a club we have participated in the Weerama Parade for many years now. It is a good way to promote our club along with the dogs enjoying a lovely day out. I encourage anyone interested in participating to give it a go. In previous years all member and dogs in the parade have had a wonderful time and have made the members of the public very happy. We have one of the instructors lead us throught some basic obedience exercises during the march down Watton Street and it a great way to show the public what our dogs can do. Below are some pies of previous years that we as a club have attended. 10 Dogs around the Clubrooms: Please don't tie your dog up on any of the poles on the veranda as it puts your dog and other member' s dogs in danger of being harmed. Those of you with male dogs please don't let your dog "lift its leg" on any of the posts around the clubrooms. Try to arrive a little early if possible and take your dog for a short walk so it can rp.lif'vf' it._p]f MEMBERS INFORMATION Bullying Policy: The document 'Werribee Obedience Dog Club Bullying Policy' has now become club policy effective immediately. The document is available to anyone wishing to view it. Name Tags: Please remember to wear your Name Tag around the Club. Your Name Tag lets us know that you are a Financial Member of the Club. All Financial Members should have a BLUE Name Tag. Space Coats Update: As the coats are more expensive to have made, you will be required to leave your car keys or license instead of the $5.00 deposit to hire the coats. If the "Give Me Space" coat is lost or damaged, a replacement fee of $40.00 will apply. You also have the option to purchase a "Give Me Space" coat. A committee member will help you with your purchase. Correspondence: Any Correspondence sent to the Committee for that Month's Meeting MUST be in the Secretary' s hands one week prior to the next Committee Meeting, to allow time for Committee Members to read and seek any additional information they require before the next Committee Meeting. If a letter is deemed important at the Committee' s discretion it may be discussed. This has been put in place to allow the smooth running and better use of time at the Committee Meetings. This rule is put in place for the safety and welfare of our Members' Children. The Committee Members realize that due to a change in circumstances beyond the Member' s control, this is often easier said than done. The Committee Members are here to help you, so please feel free to speak to one of us and we can help to work out a solution so that you are still able to come down and train your dog. Please note that all polar fleece tops come in both men and ladies sizes. Merchandise is available in Men' s, Women' s and Children ' s sizes. All merchandise will come with the WODC logo. No exception will be made. A minimum of 50% deposit is required when an order is placed and the balance paid when you receive your order. The order forms can be found in the blue box on the Merchandise Rack. For $ $10.00, you can have your official WODC items personalized. When placing your order for the current month, please be aware that all orders are placed at the end of the month and then delivered two weeks later. So if you place the order with the club on say the 5th May, it will not be ordered with the supplier until the end of May. They will then be supplied to the club two weeks later. 12 GIVE ME SP ACE We occasionally have dogs at the club that require some 'space' around them. Like people, all dogs are different and some dogs don't cope very well when their space is encroached upon by handlers or other dogs. These 'Give Me Space' vests are not exclusively for dogs with aggression issues, but also for dogs that may have fear-based behaviors. To identify these dogs, they wear a yellow vest, similar to the picture above. By a dog wearing these space vests the club believes it is a safe way for the dog to still participate in their class and slowly socialise and integrate within their training class. This also makes the class as safe as possible for all handlers and their dogs and instructors too. Remember, we are working with animals, so we need you, our members, to learn to recognise when these dogs are wearing these vests and give them the space that they require. If you are around the clubrooms or in class and see a dog with a vest on, please assist the handler and their dog by keeping your dog at least 1 metre away. You may be asked to move further away by the owner or Instructor if they feel you are too close, please respect their request. If you believe your dog would benefit from wearing a space vest please discuss it with the Chief Instructor. Please do not get offended if your dog is asked to wear a 'space vest' in class. We have vests for small dogs and up to large dogs.

16 FUNDAY 25 MARCH 2015 WHAT IS A FUND A Y? FUNDAYS REPLACE OUR NORMAL TRAINING DAY OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS This is your chance to demonstrate in a one on one situation your training progression so far. Instructors and aspiring judges will put you and your faithful companion through a series of exercises that have been demonstrated and practiced by you and your dog within your respective class levels. If you gain a qualifying score or better, you will be promoted up to the next class level. Should you win your class or even gain a second or third placing you will be acknowledged by receiving a trophy and sash for first place and a sash for second or third. BUT, you won't know if you're a grinner unless you stay for presentation. ENTRY FORMS & FEES ARE TAKEN AT THE OFFICE COUNTER IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENTER IN YOUR CORRECT CLASS LEVEL. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT OFFICIALLY ENTER, YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE ON THE DAY. THERE IS NO NORMAL TRAINING ON THIS DAY. Due to the exercises required for Rally Obedience, you are only eligible to participate if you are in Class 4-8. Competitors please note that the Rally Obedience and Agility results WILL NOT be included in any Club Awards presented at the end of the year. Voluntary Help from our membership will be required with setting up and pulling down of rings, check-in and general odd jobs throughout the day. We will also have a Raffle on the day to raise funds for the club. Last of all, your committee and your instructors also wish to participate with their dogs so there may be delays/hold-ups within you ring if your judge has to compete with his dog in another ring. Please be patient. If it's a nice day bring a rug, chairs, dog stake or crate and if wet, bring your wet weather gear and have a great day.

17 TRIAL RESULTS If you would like your trial results printed in the Werribee Wagger, please pass your results onto the Editor. Due to the limited space in the Wagger, only qualifying passes will be printed. You can also your results to: OR collect a form from the training table, fill it out clearly and leave it at the office counter. PLEASE NOTE: Can trialling members please provide as much information as possible (NO abbreviations) in regards to their passes and titles gained, especially in relation to the new disciplines of Rally 0 and Dances with Dogs. DOG PHOTO'S ON THE CLUBROOM WALL: If your dog gains a title we would love to display their picture on the wal l. The pre-requisite for a dog picture to go on the wall is that the dog must have gained an obedience, tracking, agility or endurance title first. You wil l need to provi de an 8"x 1 O" picture (portrait only) and all your dog' s relevant details for a photo to go up on the wall. It is also your responsibility to inform the Secretary in writing if you require that your dog's photo details need to be updated at any stage. If you have any queries, talk to the Secretary.
