1 Beagles of New England States 2006 Calendar
2 Beagles of New England States 2006 Calendar Beagles of New England States, Inc. (BONES) is a non-profit organization that was founded in June Since its inception, BONES has placed more than 450 beagles in safe, loving homes. BONES has no paid staff and depends entirely on the generosity and commitment of more than 170 volunteers who assist with transports, home visits, adoption counseling, foster care, fundraising, special events, etc. Where do beagles in the program come from? Some are strays, while others are much-loved pets from families overwhelmed by financial or personal tragedy. Some beagles are rescued from shelters or testing labs and others from neglect and abuse situations. When an adoptable beagle is taken into the BONES program, it is examined by a licensed veterinarian, treated for any existing medical problems, Reba and Peanut Lisa Grenier & Ruth Myott tested for heartworm, and given all necessary vaccinations. All beagles are spayed or neutered prior to placement. The beagles stay in foster homes for an unlimited amount of time before being placed. During this period, they are evaluated by the foster families for sociability with people, children, dogs, and cats. Foster families provide BONES with detailed information about the personality and traits of beagles in their care.
3 BONES also provides educational materials and publishes a newsletter to raise awareness of responsible pet guardianship, health issues, and the importance of training. We also refer adopters and/or families who have beagles with special needs to experienced trainers and certified animal behaviorists to find solutions that enable a beagle with behavioral problems to improve and remain with the family. If you are interested in adopting a BONES beagle, please complete the adoption application on our website (www. bonesbeagles.org) or call BONES at (508) to have an application sent by mail. The application process consists of filling out the application, a telephone interview, reference check, and home visit by a BONES volunteer with his or her beagle. Our ultimate goal is to match the appropriate family with the most perfect beagle and ensure that all will have a happy life together and that the beagle will have a lifelong guardian. BONES relies on donations from those who care about animals and especially about beagles. Your financial support is needed and most welcome and helps BONES care for homeless beagles and find them forever homes. BONES is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. If you would like to become a volunteer and work with others who are making a definite difference for the beagles of New England, please visit our website for more information.
