Prices across the board have gone up. Royal Entry Passes were $20 per person per day. They are now $27 each/per day. In addition, the entry fee price includes a ticket in the Door Prize Raffle. We have made every effort to keep entry costs as low as possible we believe they are MUCH less expensive than any other Section. See more details in Show Rules & Information [pg 4) CRUELTY TO ANIMALS No exhibitor shall engage in or be knowingly involved in cruelty to any animal. The RNCAS shall be the sole judge of what constitutes cruelty, it may include but is not limited to: a. To whip or beat an animal excessively, b. To subject an animal to any kind of electric shock, c. To hyper sensitise any part of an animal d. To deny an animal adequate food, water or exercise, Any case of cruelty must be reported immediately to the Chief Steward. The Society may, in its sole discretion and in the light of all information made available to it, apply penalties which may include, but are not limited to: a. expulsion from the grounds, b. disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes won, c. the levying of a monetary fine d. disqualification from future Royal Canberra Shows. OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOUR Offensive behaviour will not be tolerated from any person at the Royal Canberra Show. The RNCAS will be the sole judge of what constitutes offensive behaviour, but it may include: a. Making loud comments, b. The use of foul language, c. Intimidation or bullying of exhibits, exhibitors, officials, volunteers or spectators. Other Classes Junior Exhibitors Cavies must be exhibited and prepared by an ANCC sanctioned club member UNDER 18 years of age. The cavy MUST also be entered in the corresponding General Class. Novice Exhibitors The Novice Class is for members of an ANCC sanctioned club in their first year of showing OR their first Royal Canberra Show. Cavies entered must be exhibited, owned and prepared by the Novice member. Entry Form PLEASE GIVE all required details on your entry form. This is necessary for the Show Manager to ensure the judging paperwork is accurate; and for the smooth running of the show. Do not state Colour for Coarse Coat and Longhair breeds. Any animal without DOB will be placed in the Adult Section. This may negatively impact on the judging of your animal. Changing the Cavy s Section not to be done at the judging table. Saturday Night dinner The after-show dinner on Saturday evening will again be held at Choices Restaurant, in the Ainslie Football Club. 4 2017 Royal Canberra Cavy Shows Rules and Information ENTRIES/Payment The entry fee (Pay ONCE only $30) COVERS BOTH SHOWS and includes entry passes to the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show (which are valued at a minimum of $27 per day per person); Trestle Table/s; Chairs and door prize ticket. Entries may be ed or posted. No phone or fax entries can be accepted. Entries must be submitted on the entry form in this document (Parts A & B) or on the Word document, available from Jo Livingston. Payment can be by cheque or money order (payable to the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society (RNCAS); or credit card (MasterCard/Visa). entries MUST include credit card details. ENTRIES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT PAYMENT. RNCAS Membership If you would like to join the RNCAS: SHOW TIMEs General Classes for both shows (Saturday & Sunday) will begin at 9 am. Junior Exhibitor Classes, followed by the Novice Class judging will begin at 8.30 am on Saturday only. Bred by Exhibitor Classes will begin after the Breed Classes have finished for the day on Sunday ONLY. Enquiries, substitutions and Scratchings NOT entries Substitutions after the closing date will be accepted within the same Group until the catalogue is finalised. EXHIBITION Exhibitors must be financial members of an ANCC affiliated cavy club. Carpet squares approximately 30cm X 30cm are required for each cavy; or show boards, to be no higher than 5cm. Cavies entered in the shows will not be on display to the public. Rather, the SHOW itself is part of the public display. Members of the public wishing to speak to cavy fanciers or pat a cavy can visit the information booth run by the Capital Country Cavy Club Inc. at the far end of the Snowy River Room all three days of the Show. Selling of animals No animals of any species to be sold on the day in the Snowy River Room, from Exhibitors, or from the Club Display. JUDGING The judge s decision is FINAL and no correspondence will be entered into. No judge or the immediate family of a judge may exhibit at a show at which they are judging General Classes. A cavy purchased from a judge may not be exhibited under that judge until a period of 3 months has elapsed. No talking is permitted at the judging table. Any communications must be left until after the judging of that class has concluded. Any exhibitor making comments about other animals may risk their own animal/s being disqualified. Anyone exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior on the day risks being asked to leave the venue and having their animal/s disqualified. Venue The Snowy River Room is a large area with new down lighting and lots of natural lighting for judging and is on the ground floor. Carry Cages Exhibitors are asked to try to minimise mess and protect the carpet by using recycled newspapertype bedding in carry cages. PLEASE DO NOT USE SHAVINGS, RICE HULLS OR HAY AS THIS IS A CARPETED AREA. Capital Country Cavy Club Inc. recommends Back- 2-Nature small animal bedding & litter and is generously sponsored by FibreCycle. Trestle table/s & Chairs Table/s and Chairs are included in the entry fee. Safety test and Tag RNCAS safety requirement apply to all Sections: that all electrical appliances of any kind must be safety tested and tagged by a qualified electrician. As a courtesy to our exhibitors the CCCC will provide a limited number of power boards, extension cords and hair dryers which have been checked and tagged and available for your use from the Admin Table. Any electrical appliances you bring with you must have the proper safety tag affixed. 5 Arrival am both days. Drive up close to the Grandstand to unload cavies and gear. Entry to showground is via the Stirling Ave gate off the Federal Highway (Gate 4; Northbourne Ave) MacDonald s Restaurant is at the intersection. Exhibitors vehicles must vacate the showgrounds prior to 7.45 am (this is an RNCAS requirement). PARKING is on Wells Station Rd (closest to Gate 7) at the opposite end of the showground where we have parked in the past. Or, Cavy Exhibitors can also use the parking lot at the Race Track on Randwick Rd (accessed thru the Main gate). This is approximately a 1 km (flat) walk. Rules and Information Continued Disabled Parking is available across from the Main gate. Members Parking in the area across from the Main gate is no longer available due to construction of the Light Rail Network. TRANSPORT TRAINS run between Gate 7 and the Main gate and around the showground throughout the day, beginning at 8am. Cavy Exhibitors can use the Train to return to the show venue from the Gate 7 carpark. The stop is about 100 m from the Cavy Show Venue (Snowy River Room, under the Grandstand). Exhibitors arriving after 7.45 cannot drive on to the showground, but must walk in from the parking area; or take the Train. Exhibition Park in Canberra Map Corner of Flemington Road and Northbourne Avenue, Mitchell, ACT Departure You are not allowed to bring your vehicle back into the showground, so you will have to carry out your cavies, etc. It is a good idea to bring a collapsible trolley, or similar to assist you. After the cavy show has finished, exhibitors may take the Train to Gate 7. There will be a PICK UP / DROP-OFF POINT on Flemington Rd, just outside the Main gate. This allows for a second person to stay outside the Main gate with all the exhibitors cavies and equipment whilst another parks/collects the car and drives around to the pick up / drop-off point. We recommend you bring a trolley.
