6 Wiltshire Cavy Club Schedule Explanation Guide This is a guide to explain the schedules for newcomers to the cavy fancy to help them understand and complete the entry forms correctly. Newcomers can find it all rather confusing at first but once explained its pretty simple to understand. Abbreviations: Ad: This is for cavies that is 8 months or older. 5/8: This is for cavies that are 5 months to 8 months old. u/5, 3/5 or 3-5: This is for cavies that are under 5 months old ( 3 months min) AA: Any Age - This is a challenge class Purebreeds: Selfs: This is a breed of cavy that is all one colour Non-Selfs: This is a category of breeds that is not one colour, with the exception to the English crested, even though it is one colour it is not a self due to the crest on its head. Rare Variety: Guide Standard: This is a category for cavy breeds that has not yet been given a full standard by the British Cavy Council New & Emerging: This is a category for cavy breeds that are new and that has not yet been given Guide Standard by the British Cavy Council. Clipped Classes: This is for pure bred longhaired cavies that have been clipped. Pets: This is a category for cavies that are either a crossbreed, pure breed that is not up to standard or can no longer be shown in the main category for instance longhaired cavies that have a damaged coat or been clipped and do not wish to show in the clipped classes. Smooth: A pet that has a smooth coat like the self cavy Smooth Cr: As above but with a crest on its head. Longhair: A longhaired pet. Rough: A rough coated pet with a coat like the Abysinnian, Rex, Teddy. AOC: Any Other Colour AOV: Any Other Variety M&T: Marked & Ticked NPM: No Prize Money

7 On the schedule the breed class numbers are the ones which are not in bold and the Challenge classes are in bold. We use a block entry schedule as does most clubs which means when filling out the entry form you only need to enter the breed class number from the schedule as the computer program automatically enters the cavy in to all the relevant challenge classes when the secretary enters the breed class. When looking at the schedule find the breed of the cavy you want to enter, go across to the right to the correct age column for the cavy, the number in that column is the class number. When entering Pets remember that our pet classes are separated in to Adult Exhibitor (Ad ex ) owned pets and Juvenile Exhibitor ( Juv ex) owned pets as well as in to Boars and Sows. Stud Name: A stud name ( or prefix) is a name chosen by a exhibitor to show under rather than using your own name. Note: To use this you must apply to the British Cavy Council for name approval and registration before you can show under it, at the time of writing the one off cost of this is 6, a application form can be downloaded from the British Cavy Council website. If we are hosting other breed clubs at our shows there are columns on the entry form to include the class numbers of those clubs too as well as the entry fees. Sale Pens: This is where you put the qty of sale pens you wish to book if you have any Cavies you wish to sell. Sale Pen Guide: All cavies will be inspected by the sales steward before being accepted for sale. NO cavies under 8 weeks old. NO pregnant cavies. Cavies Must be fit and healthy. Minimum selling price is 6 Maximum 2 adults per pen Maximum 3 5/8 per pen Maximum 3 u/5 per pen. Cost of 1 per cavy to go to club funds, please provide some food for the new owner and 1 cardboard box per cavy.
