1 ~2017 National Convention~ Sanson 5 Star National Rabbit Association Show 3 Star All Breed Show held in association with Central Districts Rabbit Club. Saturday 21st October Star NRA Judge: Ben Ellis (Christchurch) 3 Star All Breed Show: Tamsin Redwood-Jones (Sanson) Show Manager: Linda Farrell Show Secretary: Madeleine Gray Venue Sanson Community Hall, Fagan Street, Sanson 4479 Entry closing date: Saturday 14 th October 2016 Vetting in will be between 8:30am and 9.30am on the day of the show. Judging starts at approximately 10 10:30am. De-benching will be at the Show Managers instruction. Lunch will be semi-catered for, for the costs of $3.00 please include this with your entries. This will include fresh rolls and a selection of fillings. Soft drinks and tea and coffee will be available to purchase. Please feel encouraged to bring a platter to share. 2 A. No deformed animals may be allowed at shows. Animals accepted at the discretion of the show committee. B. No animals entered are to be under 12 weeks old and all are to be the exhibitor's property. C. All rabbits entered in the show must be vetted in first. D. Owners of long haired animals are permitted to groom prior to the show starting. E. Any animal entered in the breed classes may not be entered in the Pet section and vice versa. F. Animals can only be entered in the duplicate and novelty classes if they are first entered into the appropriate breed class. G. Water must be available to exhibits at all time is a suitable dish or drink bottle H. Hay/straw/sawdust is not permitted in accordance with the CCRFA show rules I. No exhibit is to be removed from the show until de-benching is announced unless under prior arrangements Show Manager. J. Rabbits to be in a suitable top opening show cage - Cat cage or similar. K. No rabbit will be accepted in a dirty cage - exhibitor will be asked to vacate premises and no refund will be given. L. Offensive language will not be tolerated at the venue. Abuse of any show official will be reported to the show manager who has the right to remove the offending party and their animals. Anyone required to leave & will automatically forfeit any prizes, awards or ribbons awarded and may face further disciplinary action. M. Children at the venue must be under the control of the parent/ guardian at all times. Any child causing a nuisance at the venue will result in the parent being asked to remove the child from the venue for the duration of the show. Any problems with the show must be brought up only with the show manager. Please do not approach the show secretary as she is very busy both during and after the show. N. Exhibitors exhibiting polish or long-haired exhibits may steward their own exhibits at their own wish. If there is thought to be any cheating the show manager and or show secretary has the right to remove the steward from there exhibit and appoint another Money must be paid with entry, O. 5 Junior Development Program The NRA believes that junior exhibitors are the future of the New Zealand rabbit fancy. We have come up with the Junior Development Program (JDP) to give junior members a goal and something to work on over the year in order to extend and better the fancy. The JDP program is only for Junior (Full and Social) members of the NRA (this included junior members who hold a membership through a family membership. The program will be run similarly to the Americans 4H program. Where a competition is held alongside the NRA convention among all the junior members separated by age based on their general knowledge and understanding of rabbits. How it will work? The application to participate in the JDP will be sent out alongside of the entries for convention the fee to participate will be set from the NRA. Contestants will be divided up into 3 different age groups: aged senior contestant, 14-9 intermediate contestant and Junior 8-4. Each age group will participate in activities that are fitted to their age groups ability. The winner of each section will be the contestant who has the highest percentage out of 100 each contestant will receive an overall mark in accordance with NRA [SR 62. Exam pass marks] Age groups will go through the following Senior contestants Years old Judging course every exhibitor will judge according to the BRC Standard 10 exhibits will be placed before them and they are to place them accordingly. A senior advanced judge is to have also judged the group of 10 and placed them accordingly. For every correct placing the contestant will receive 3 points if the contestant places all 10 rabbits in the correct order they will receive a bonus 3.3 points. Worth a total 33.3% of their overall mark. Written Exam - a written exam relating to the breed standard, show rules and constitution. This written exam will be worth 33.3% of their overall mark. Personal perfection - The exhibitor will present 3 of their own rabbits that they have entered under their name in any show at convention; all three exhibits must have been living on the property of the exhibitor for at least 3 months directly proceeding the convention. They will be judged not against the standard bust against our NRA s JDP Personal Perfection standard. Each exhibit will be worth 11.1%. Personal Perfection will be worth 33.3% of their overall mark. Intermediate Contestants 14-9 years old Judging course - breed, colour sex, identification. This judging course will be worth 33.3% of their overall mark. Written Exam - a written exam relating to rabbit welfare, husbandry, and general knowledge. For contestants requiring a readerwriter this can be arranged. This written exam will be worth 33.3% of their overall mark. Personal perfection. - The exhibitor will present 3 of their own rabbits that they have entered under their name in any show at convention; all three exhibits must have been living on the property of the exhibitor for at least 3 months directly proceeding the convention. They will be judged not against the standard bust against our NRA s JDP Personal Perfection standard. Each exhibit will be worth 11.1%. Personal Perfection will be worth 33.3% of their overall mark.

6 Junior Contestant 8-4 Personal perfection. -The exhibitor will present 3 of their own rabbits that they have entered under their name in any show at convention, all three exhibits must have been living on the property of the exhibitor for at least 3 months directly proceeding the convention. They will be judged not against the standard bust against our NRA s JDP Personal Perfection standard. Each exhibit will be worth 16.66%. Personal Perfection will be worth 50% of their overall mark. Judging course - breed, colour, identification. This judging course will be worth 50% of their overall mark. Personal Perfection standard The exhibit shall be judged upon the rabbit s health and presentation. Exhibits that show the following are to be commended overall health, good muscle tone, clipped nails, clean teeth, clean vent, free from matts and knots, free from open wounds, mites, scurf, shiny coat, vibrant coat, clear clean eyes, and free from cage staining or foreign colours. The NRA urges contestants to study for this event any by attending shows exhibiting, stewarding, reading the NRA handbook and BRC standard. By simply being part of the JDP it will allow the next generation to learn and be a part of the next generation of fanciers in New Zealand. The future of the New Zealand rabbit fancy will be prosperous and thrive. Leading on from achieving at the senior level in the JDP this will give the contestant a fantastic base ok knowledge and confidence to start their journey in becoming a NRA sanctioned judge.
