1 2012 SUGARCANE 4-H RABBIT SHOW The annual Sugarcane Festival is scheduled for SEPTEMBER 27-29, Again this year, a Rabbit Show will be held in conjunction with the festivities. Rules for the show will be as follows: 1. Arrival and Registration: 7:30 8:00 a.m. Show Begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Release on Saturday at the conclusion of the rabbit show and by 4:00 p.m. all animals must be removed. 2. Show officials are not responsible for rabbits left after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. 3. The Sugarcane Festival Association, Iberia Parish Government, SugArena at Acadiana Fairgrounds and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service LSU AgCenter, are not responsible for loss or damage. 4. Exhibitors are only allowed to enter rabbits they own and care for as of the required possession date. 5. Participants must be between 9 years of age and not have completed their senior year of high school or be older than 20 years old. 6. All rabbits must be properly entered prior to the show with the signature of both parent and child on the entry. 7. A $3.00 entry fee per rabbit will be charged for rabbits pre-entered. A $5.00 entry fee will be charged for rabbits entered the day of the show. Premiums will be paid. 8. Exhibitors or parents showing ownership while rabbits are being judged will be disqualified. 9. An exhibitor may enter NO MORE THAN ONE (1) RABBIT in any ONE CLASS 10. Substitutions will be allowed in the same class pre-entered only. Substitutions are to be made prior to the show during registration. 11. Exhibitors need to be present during judging or make prior arrangements with show superintendent. 12. No exhibitor or parent is to confer with the judges about his/her rabbit while the class is in progress. 13. Rabbits must be in possession and at domicile (home) of exhibitor at least thirty (30) days prior to the festival. 14. Definition of classes: (A) Rabbits six months of age and over in those breeds having two show room classes ( and ). (B) Rabbits eight months of age and over in those breeds having three show room classes (,, ). - rabbits six months of age or over, and under eight months of age. - rabbits under six months of age. 15. Entries MUST BE RECEIVED BY SEPTEMBER 19, Exhibitors are to care (feeding/watering) for their rabbits while on exhibit. 17. You must bring your rabbits in carrying cages. Rabbits cannot be housed overnight. 18. All pre-entered rabbits must still check-in during registration to ensure that rabbits are classified correctly and to eliminate problems during the show. NOTE: There has been a change in the way entries are to be completed. We no longer have class numbers. All that is required on the entry form is ear #, breed/variety, sex and age of each rabbit. If you are unsure of the breed/sex/age of your rabbit, officials will classify it during registration the day of the show. The breed/varieties are listed below:
