Paws for Love Foundation Art Paws A Note from Ellyn This newsletter began as the Fall 2017 issue and then came the October fires. Weeks passed, and then months. The newsletter experienced several rewrites during that time. Many members of our Paws for Love family lost homes, jobs their pets. We lost the clean air we breathe, the landscape we loved, and the familiar landmarks which gave us our sense of place. We were stunned we still are. Our losses are many, but we did not lose our spirit or strength or hope. Our 19 th annual Paws for Love gala saw the largest attendance ever. Neighbors, friends, and strangers came together in support of making life better for homeless pets and many were themselves without their homes. It was a community in mourning a community healing. And just as if they knew exactly what we needed, the Silver Paws for Love senior dogs pranced into the auditorium on the red carpet right on cue -- as the disco ball sparkled and twirled warming the hearts of all our guests - reminding us how strong we are, and how much work there is yet to be done. We are needed. Many thanks to Mutt Lynch and Pedroncelli Wineries, Iron Horse Vineyards, and Korbel Champagne for their incredible generosity; and special thanks to Ulrike Steinke and her crew for making their hors d oeuvres magic in the kitchen! As we move into our 20th year, this little benefit art show has grown to become a vital safety net for countless homeless pets throughout the West. At least 1,600 shelter and rescue pets have shared their artistic paws with us in the past 2 decades, creating original works of art which now hang in homes from Coast to Coast. You may support Paws for Love and the work we do by letting your dog show off his or her artistic talent. Check out our upcoming paw-painting events: Artsy Dogs of Kokomo at Kokomo Winery, and our famous UN-agility games at West Wines when Barks & Art in the Vineyard returns with the famous Wine Barrel Dash. A brand new event will take place in October at White Oak Winery the Black & White Ball. When your dog paints for Paws for Love, you will go home with a cherished work of art created by your own Pawcasso - and you will be helping homeless pets at the same time. 20 th Anniversary Paws for Love February 9, PM Finley Community Center, Santa Rosa 1
