The downtown Milwaukee Holiday parade may have been canceled but the festivities continued. The luncheon was on November 17th at the indoor club and was a huge success. The club provided the main entrée (ham and rolls), soda, water, and everyone brought a tasty side dish or sweet treat to pass. Thank you to Santa Dave for making a special stop to visit us again and posing for pictures! Thank you, Tracy, Daryl and their helpers for organizing and helping with the cool paw print artwork, Dawn Butler and Linda Roman for organizing and working the food tables, JoAnne McMillan for taking the beautiful Santa pictures. And a Special Thank You to Ellen Mack and all her helpers for all the setup, cleanup, and behind the scene work they did to make this club event go smoothly! The club had some fundraising events in November. Thank you, Linda Roman for organizing and running the Suzy s Cheesecake fundraiser, which was again, very profitable for the club. Thank you, Martha Ryan for the speedy delivery of our MDTC calendars. The calendars are available for purchase at the indoor club for $ There will be an envelope inside the box, payment can either be cash or check. Besides looking amazing on your wall, they can make great stocking stuffers also! MDTC is happy to announce the arrival of a bigger and more colorful list of club clothing items and jackets. The binder along with prices will be at the indoor club for all to view and place orders. Keep in mind the different types of jackets being offered have a minimum amount that need to be ordered due to setup and printing fees. The first order will be placed in the next couple of weeks. Please fill out the order form along with cash or check and place in the box provide. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Eastman. Mark your calendars, the club Holiday party is Saturday, January 19th at the Pulaski Inn in Cudahy. Social hour begins at 5:00pm, and dinner at 6:00pm, and presenting of the awards and raffle drawing will be held afterwards. Tickets prices are $24 per person and can be purchased at the Indoor club. Please remember if you buy your tickets before our December general membership meeting, you will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a free 6-month membership. One name will be drawn at the December general membership meeting and one name at the Holiday party. If you are feeling lucky, you could win both!! The holiday party is not only fun because of the good food and drinks but, where else can you go and talk about your dog all evening with people who share the same interests as you? Have a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year! Kathy

Winter wellness: Has your pet had his/her preventive care exam (wellness exam) yet? Cold weather may worsen some medical conditions such as arthritis. Know the limits: Just like people, pets' cold tolerance can vary from pet to pet based on their coat, body fat stores, activity level, and health. Be aware of your pet's tolerance for cold weather, and adjust accordingly. You will probably need to shorten your dog's walks in very cold weather to protect you both from weatherassociated health risks. Provide choices: Just like you, pets prefer comfortable sleeping places and may change their location based on their need for more or less warmth. Give them some safe options to allow them to vary their sleeping place to adjust to their needs. Stay inside. Cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold weather. Like people, cats and dogs are susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia and should be kept inside. Check the paws: Check your dog's paws frequently for signs of coldweather injury or damage, such as cracked paw pads or bleeding. During a walk, a sudden lameness may be due to an injury or may be due to ice accumulation between his/her toes. You may be able to reduce the chance of iceball accumulation by clipping the hair between your dog's toes. Play dress-up: If your dog has a short coat or seems bothered by the cold weather, consider a sweater or dog coat. Have several on hand, so you can use a dry sweater or coat each time your dog goes outside. Some pet owners also use booties to protect their dog's feet; if you choose to use them, make sure they fit properly. Wipe down: During walks, your dog's feet, legs and belly may pick up deicers, antifreeze, or other chemicals that could be toxic. When you get back inside, wipe down (or wash) your pet's feet, legs and belly to remove these chemicals and reduce the risk that your dog will be poisoned after (s)he licks them off of his/her feet or fur. Stay home: Hot cars are a known threat to pets, but cold cars also pose significant risk to your pet's health. You're already familiar with how a car can rapidly cool down in cold weather; it becomes like a refrigerator, and can rapidly chill your pet. Limit car travel to only that which is necessary, and don't leave your pet unattended in the vehicle. I would like to congratulate the teams that earned titles in Your hard work paid off! Well done! One more common-sense reminder please pick up after your dog, even in the snow. If your dog has an accident at the indoor training site, the outside dumpster is the place for the trash rather than the indoor garbage cans. Just take the poop bag with you when you leave after class and toss it out. Enjoy the snow! ~ Kim Rinzel

Saturday, November 17th Thank You to everyone who came out to enjoy MDTC s Christmas, without a parade, luncheon! A special Thanks to all the elves that helped decorate on Friday afternoon and evening and to those that pitched in on Saturday morning to set-up and clean up at the end of the celebration. Pictures with Santa would not be possible without the jolly, not so old, efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, better known as Dave and Martha. Thank You Santa! This year Santa had help with the pictures from Joanne who stepped in to snap some Holiday memories. Our Paw Prints were once again a hit and done with the artistic flare of Tracy and her helpers. This luncheon is a fun kick-off to the Holiday season and even though the parade was cancelled it is fun to continue the tradition. We re not sure what next year will bring, but if club members would like it to continue, please let board members know there is still interest. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

5 Brewer Game Fundraising Results Wow, what a season the Brewers had and so did we! Working 16 regular season Brewer games, two playoff games, and two concerts, we had our best year EVER working at County Stadium/ Miller Park. And it wasn't even close! This season, MDTC made $17,740, well over our second best year, 2008, when we made $10,152 working in concessions. Our commissions and incentives totaled $17,170 plus we made $570 in tips. Over the 20 years we've worked for Sportservice, we've made $128,675. The two churches' members who worked with us also did better than ever. My church, St. Therese, had 3 people who worked, and they made $4,375 for the church. St John's Lutheran had one worker, and he made $1,036 for his church. So, the grand total for all three groups is $23,151. Twenty-one people from the club were trained this year, and 18 of them were able to work at least once. Twelve of the 18 worked two or more events, and 5 worked 6 or more events. Thank you to everyone, even those who were trained and wanted to work, but who weren't able to because of scheduling conflicts. Hopefully, we'll have more people interested in working next season, and everyone will be able to work at least one game. Opening Day 2019 is Thursday, March 28th 2019, at 1:10pm, versus the St. Louis Cardinals, the same team the Brewers played this season on Opening Day. We will definitely be there! We don't know if there will be any concerts in 2019, but if there are, we plan to be there too! This has been such a good fund-raiser for the club that we'd like to continue working, but we definitely need more people. Please think about joining us; it's fun! We haven't yet received the 2019 info from Sportservice, but I'm sure we will soon. I do know, though, that everyone will have to do a mandatory training session, even if you've worked before. I assume training sessions will start in January. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact me. Thanks again everyone! Mari Pavleje Suzy s Cheesecake Fundraising Results Hurray, we did it! I would like to personally thank all the Milwaukee Dog Club members who sold and bought Cheesecakes this year. Your support is what makes US great. A very special Thank you to some very generous people: my eagle eyed, double checker team mate, Nancy Eastman who helped pack orders in 22 degree weather. Thanks to a personal friend, Ken Schoneman, for driving his large truck down to Oak Creek to get our cheesecakes. A big Heartfelt thank you to Dawn Fuchs, for a very generous contribution. And, to Telluride for being the Cheesecake Greeter. You are the BEST salespeople: MDTC made $1, this year and I m so very proud of you. This makes us just a little closer to our dream of a new home for the Club. Linda Roman
