Please check the calendar for times and/or class changes. Congratulations to our Heeldown winners: Daryl Stuppan with Cashmere and Charlie Mundt with Wally, held on October 14th. The Big Super Heeldown winner is Daryl Stuppan with Cashmere, congratulations to a wonderful team! Good luck, to all the club members who are participating in the Achievement trial on November 11th. May all your hard work payoff and help you advance as a team to the next level of training. The Milwaukee Brewers season, including their amazing play-off, run came to end for us. Mari Pavleje did a great job of organizing this beneficial fundraising event for the club. Mari continues to dedicate her spring and summer to going to all the events and getting volunteers from her church, and club members. Thank you for another good year!! Milwaukee Dog s Open House on October 20st at the Indoor building was another huge success. Congratulations to all the new teams who passed the series of tests! Good luck in your new adventures, and most of all Have Fun. Ghost night was on October 20th at the outdoor clubhouse. The food, costumes, games and the exciting maze created a frightful night of fun despite the cold/wet weather. Thank you to all the club members who helped make this a fun-filled club event! The downtown Milwaukee Holiday parade on November 17th was canceled this year but, the Holiday Luncheon will still go on. The luncheon will begin at 11:00am. The club will provide the main entrée (ham and rolls), soda, water, we are asking everyone to bring a small side dish or dessert to pass. There will be an area setup for paw prints artwork and as always, pictures with Santa. The luncheon is open to all club members, furry partners and their families. The Milwaukee Dog Training club calendar is in the final stages and will be headed to the printer. Thank you, Tracy McCarty and Erin for helping me with putting the calendar together! We have decided to insert the owner s names along with their dogs name this year. Stay tuned for prices and delivery date. Mark your calendars, the West Allis Christmas parade is Saturday, December 1st and our annual Holiday party will be in January. Stay tuned for the official date. There will be more information to follow for both events. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Kathy

A dog is not born with people skills and people are not born with dog skills. It takes a patient teacher to help us learn. Students Thank you for joining us on the journey with your dogs. Becoming a wonderful companion dog does not come easily and the road can be bumpy. Your perseverance does not go un-noticed. The kindness you demonstrate toward your dogs and peers goes far. Dogs Thank you for sharing the opportunity for us to learn to better understand you. We are not always patient and you can guide us to become better. Even the goofy adolescent dogs can teach us something! MDTC Board Members and Staff The amount of time you donate to the Club to keep it running smoothly, efficiently and professionally is enormous. It s hard to understand how you manage to complete the tasks you do and still have time to train your own dogs and have a life outside of the Club. Remember that we are a group of people all working toward the same goal teaching our dogs to be amazing. Offer your help if needed, be patient if needed, be excited (as often as possible) and most importantly, have fun with your dog. On another note, we are starting to gear up for our annual holiday party in January. If you have earned titles with your dog this year (2018) we would like to recognize you and your dog. Please share the details about the titles earned with your appropriate Director of Training (Obedience,, ) and we can take it from there. If you have any questions, please ask! We will collect information through the beginning of December. Then the title window closes. Have a great start to the indoor season! ~ Kim Rinzel NEWSLETTER DEADLINES If you have an article for the Newsletter, the following are deadline dates. If you send an article after these dates it will go in the following month s newsletter, which means it will probably be outdated! No exceptions! Nov.26th, December 21st.

4 GHOST NIGHT October 20 th was a rather chilly night, but, if you were among the 25 people who came to Ghost Night, you saw fun costumes and had plenty to do! The Ghost Walk, Maze, Musical Rings, Red Light-Green Light, and of course, Zombie Fingers kept everyone warm and were lots of fun! Congratulations to the winners of the games: Rose (Patty Leonard) ran the Maze the fastest for the non-agility dogs (6.25 sec.), while Cashmere (Daryl Ann Stuppan) won for the agility dogs (4.67 sec.), Daryl and Cashmere made it to the end in Musical Rings, Sam Sgroi and Charlie made it across the line first in Red Light-Green Light, and Cashmere (Daryl) ate the 3 Zombie Fingers the fastest for the big dogs (9.83 sec.), while Rocco (Peggy Brunner) won for the small dogs (10.9 sec.). The winners for the different costume categories were: Cutest Ceili and Joanne McMillan (S mores), Scariest Maize and Kris DeFelice (K9 Police Unit), Most Original Cashmere and Daryl Ann Stuppan (Mrs. Santa Claus and her elf dog), and Best Rocco and Peggy Brunner ( A Fowl Combination, Rocco was a turkey, Peggy was a rooster). Congratulations to all participants! And, a big thank you to all who helped with organizing and running this great event: Karen Brauch for her fantastic chilies, Tori Baldwin, Kim, Brad and Kayden Rinzel, Mari Pavleje, Joanne McMillan, Kim Morrison, Sue Bronson, and Peggy Brunner (hope I didn t forget anyone!), and, of course, everyone who shared their delicious dishes with all of us! THANKSGIVING PET SAFETY TIPS Thanksgiving is a time for friends, family and holiday feasts but also a time for possible distress for our animal companions. Pets won t be so thankful if they munch on undercooked turkey or a pet-unfriendly floral arrangement, or if they stumble upon an unattended alcoholic drink. Check out the following tips for a fulfilling Thanksgiving that your pets can enjoy, too: Talkin Turkey: If you decide to feed your pet a small bite of turkey, make sure it s boneless and well-cooked. Don't offer her raw or undercooked turkey, which may contain salmonella bacteria. Do not give your pet the left over carcass the bones can be problematic for the digestive tract. No Bread Dough: Don't spoil your pet s holiday by giving him access to raw yeast bread dough. When a dog or cat ingests raw bread dough, the yeast continues to convert the sugars in the dough to carbon dioxide gas and alcohol. This can result in bloated drunken pets, which could become a life-threatening emergency, requiring hospitalization. Don't Let Them Eat Cake: If you plan to bake Thanksgiving desserts, be sure your pets keep their noses out of the batter, especially if it includes raw eggs they could contain salmonella bacteria that may lead to food poisoning. A Feast Fit for a King: While your family enjoys a special meal, give your cat and dog a small feast of their own. Offer them made-for-pets chew bones. Or stuff their usual dinner perhaps with a few added tidbits of turkey, vegetables (try sweet potato or green beans) and dribbles of gravy inside a food puzzle toy. They ll be happily occupied for awhile, working hard to extract their dinner from the toy. A few small boneless pieces of cooked turkey, a taste of mashed potato or even a lick of pumpkin pie shouldn t pose a problem. However, don't allow your pets to overindulge, as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse.
