My name is Walker and I m a 10-week-old Shepherd/Lab mix puppy who was recently rescued by my friends at Columbus Humane Society. My entire family - me, my mother and two siblings - were found abandoned on the street by a humane society volunteer. My siblings have found homes but my mother, Joy, is still waiting! She looks just like me, but she is 2½-years-old. There are also many other adorable dogs and puppies looking for homes. Would you like to meet us? A nice lady found us and would come twice a day to feed and pet us. Then one day she took us home with her, had us fixed and placed in homes! I was happy because it was scary being outside! My new family didn t take good care of me and moved away and left me. I was afraid and hungry and losing my hair. That same lady found me again! 11 Please call to adopt us! Adopt-An-ANGEL Got a girl, her name's Francine, finest thing you ever seen. I got my name from the ZZ Top song because I am one of the finest Beagles ever. I was a stray at a local shelter and did not have much of a chance of getting out alive due to my age. Adopt-An-ANGEL took me in and started me on the road to adoption. I am heartworm negative so someone owned me at one time. My teeth had been very neglected. The vet had to pull 17 teeth! I was also spayed and had a small mass on my right side removed. I feel so much better! I can now eat well and have been chowing down my food in true Beagle style. I get along with everyone, kids, dogs and especially cats. I even love kittens. I would make a wonderful addition to any home. I m also perfect for an apartment because unlike many Beagles, I rarely bark or make any noise. My name is Eva and I am absolutely fantastic. I m learning new commands, but I can sit pretty well and I will be sure to tell you when I need to go outside to do my duty. Fill a shoebox with canine toys, treats, food or accessories and place in the donation bin located at the Amberleigh Shores Apartment Clubhouse by December 15. The Clubhouse in located in the Ogden area (115 Amberleigh Drive, Wilmington, NC). You may also deliver them to Coastal Canine Rescue at Petsmart on Saturdays between 11am to 3pm and they will transport them to the drop off location to share with Paws Place. These boxes will be delivered to four-legged friends at Coastal Canine Rescue and Paws Place. If you are unable to fill a shoebox, donations of any size are welcome. The grant, which was applied for this past August through an extensive application process, was awarded from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. The grant award enables Canines for Veterans to provide three service dogs over the next 12 months to Veterans with service connected disabilities. Canines for Veterans will select, train, assess and place the assistance dogs with Veterans at no cost to the Veteran.
