Dog Class Exhibitors must wear closed toe shoes. No animals released until close of show/clean-up required. FFA & 4-H members (ages 8 and up) who are enrolled in one of the following Small Animal projects are eligible to participate in the Johnson County 4-H & FFA : Hatching Chicks Dog Rabbit Cat Poultry Any other Self Determined small animal Care Classes & Notebooks may be exhibited at Achievements Days All animals exhibited must abide by Missouri Animal Health Requirements for Exhibitions (see file). Clover Kids in a special non-competitive showing of their animals. For specific information, see Clover Kids section on this page. Johnson County 4-H Clover Kids Johnson County 4-H Clover Kid members may bring the following types of animal exhibits to the Johnson County Fair on Friday, July 13. Must preregister using the small animal form. Amphibians frogs, toads Rabbits Fish Rats Hedge Hogs Snakes Lizards Chinchillas Mice Birds Cavies guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters Dogs (with Dog Show on Sun.) Poultry Cats (with Cat Show on Saturday) Small Animal Safety Policies: No wildlife allowed follow Department of Conservation rules as specified in the Wildlife Code of Missouri All animals must be caged, leased, and/or contained as appropriate and manageable by the child during Clover Kids meetings and events. Parent and guardian must be present with their child(ren) when animals are involved. This show is non-competitive. Each participant will receive a participation award and premium money. Clover Kid exhibits are not eligible to compete for trophies given for species champions.

3 Hatching Chicks (4-H Only - 12 years of age & under) The Hatching Chicks project is designed for 4-H members as an introductory project to poultry. Requirements are as follows: 1. Enroll in the project by January 1 2. Rent an incubator and purchase a dozen pre-set eggs. Both of these are available through the Extension Center at a cost of $ You must contact the Extension Center by May 24 to reserve both. (Must have a county total of 5 dozen egg ordered.) 3. Take the incubator home and learn to operate it. 4. Pick up fertile eggs at the Extension Center. 5. Care for eggs and hatch the chicks 6. No hen and chicks, must use incubator 7. Feed and care for the chicks until the Small Animal Show. 8. Keep a record to indicate the cost and amount of feed, other costs of the project, and what you did with the project. Bring these records and chickens to the. MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW ALL GUIDELINES FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE PROJECT OR DISQUALIFICATION MAY RESULT. Members entering exhibits in the Small Animal Show will receive a ribbon (blue, red or white according to the Danish system) and prize money. Cats and Dogs MUST have documentation of vaccinations NO PAPERS, NO SHOW! Show classes will be as follows: 2. Hatching Chicks (12 years of age & under) 3. Miscellaneous Animals (amphibians, hamsters, etc.) SALE OF MEAT ANIMALS Johnson County members participating in the Poultry Show and/or Rabbit Show classes at the have the opportunity to offer meat animals for sale at the Johnson County Junior Livestock Sale. Sale information is described under the Livestock Show sections. In order for meat pens to eligible for sale, animals must be of a meat breed, must be market ready, (following the weight or age guidelines as listed in the show classes), and receive a blue or red ribbon. The Small Animal Committee will make the final decision on questions regarding sale eligibility. Show classes are listed as follows. Additional forms are available at the University Entries open to 4-H or FFA youth who are members in good standing with their respective organizations. FFA members must have included rabbits as part of their S.A.E. program. 4-H members must be enrolled in a rabbit project. Rabbits shall have been the property of the 4-H or FFA member on or before June 1. Class numbers for all breeds will be the same. No more than two rabbits per breed per class may be entered. When entering rabbits, specify the breed, Crossbred, or Meat pen. Exhibitors must provide travel carriers. Rabbit classes may be broken by breed as needed the day of show. Substitutions may be made in case of injury, sickness or death. Must notify show chairman at check-in on the day of the show. Classes: #101, 102, 105 & 106 six class. General rule is a larger breed weighing over 9 pounds as a senior. 101 Senior buck: over 9 pounds, over 8 mo. of age 102 Senior doe: over 9 pounds, over 8 mo. of age 105 Intermediate buck: 6-8 months of age 106 Intermediate doe: 6-8 months of age

Pre-registration is necessary to ensure adequate poultry testing is available the day of the show. Substitutions may be made in case of injury, sickness or death. Must notify show chairman at check-in on the day of the show. The American Standards of Perfection issued by the American Poultry Association is the only acceptable standard used in the judging of poultry exhibits. Exhibitors are encouraged to exhibit poultry that meets the requirements for recognized standard breeds and varieties as listed in the Standard of Perfection. Non-standard poultry may be exhibited and will be judged together as one breed. Exhibitor is required to furnish their own coop with hinged door. The exhibitor is responsible for care of his/her own birds during the fair. Exhibitors are limited to one pen of poultry for the sale. Exhibits must receive a blue or red ribbon to be eligible to sell. An official tester will be available at the show to satisfy the health requirements. Poultry and fowl classes will be broken by breed, sex and age/old (over 1 year) young (under 1 year) as needed the day of the show. For example exhibitor may show no more than 8 birds of the same breed, 2 birds in each of the age division class break down (old male, young male, young female & old female). Must be 4.5 pounds minimum weight per bird. 5 2018 Rooster Crowing Contest Friday, July One entry per exhibitor 2. Exhibitor will bring rooster to the ring in a cage. The rooster may not be touched after being placed in the ring. 3. There will be a 10 minute time limit. 4. The rooster with the most crows will be the winner. (This is a class for kids that want to learn more about their dog and dog care, but do not want to get into competitive showing.
