Birds indicating symptoms of disease, emaciation, or pendulous crops will be disqualified and sent home. NEW REGULATIONS All poultry exhibitors MUST have a current FSQA certification. We encourage you to bring your own sawdust. All birds must be worthy of the ribbon. The following regulations pertain to Poultry and Birds of any species including egg, meat, or exotic chickens and turkeys, wild and domestic waterfowl, game birds and exhibition birds of any kind. All birds purchased January 1st or after of the current year must have a certificate stating they came from a Pollorum Typhoid clean or equivalent flock. Your poultry supplier can provide you with these certificates. Any birds hatched January 1st or after of the current year by the exhibitor or someone else must have a Pollorum Typhoid negative test within 90 days of exhibition. This must be done by an authorized tester. All birds purchased or hatched before January 1st of the current year must have a Pollorum Typhoid negative test within 90 days of exhibition. This must be done by an authorized tester. This Pollorum Typhoid test must be done prior to fair. No testing at fair. For a list of testers, call the Extension Office. 1. All poultry exhibitors MUST wear a 4-H chevron pinned or sewn on a white blouse, shirt or T-shirt while showing at the fair. FFA members should wear appropriate FFA attire. Pants of appropriate attire in either blue or black will be worn, with no holes, tears, low riders, cut offs, or shorts allowed. Special consideration may be shown for conflicting attire during shows occurring at the same time or shows requiring special attire. 2. Only cockerels and pullets for market are eligible to enter the market poultry classes. 48

2 3. Entries in market poultry classes will be judged according to the USDA Production and Marketing Standards of Quality for live poultry. The factors will be health, feathering, conformation (breast, back, legs, and thighs) fleshing and fat covering. 4. Entries in the production poultry classes will be judged on the basis of uniformity, maturity, development (handling, qualities, pigmentation, molt) and general conformation to breed characteristics. 5. Each exhibitor is limited to one pen per class in Chick Growing, Laying Flock, Market Birds, and other poultry divisions. A pen consists of two birds of the same sex. Birds will be weighed at the fair. Overweight and underweight birds will be put into proper classes. 6. All decisions of the judges are final. 7. In the exotic classes, exhibitors may enter only one bird per breed in each class. The number of entries in each class is unlimited as long as each bird is a different breed. 8. In the showbird classes, exhibitors may bring one male and one female bird of each breed in each class. The number of entries in each class is unlimited as long as each bird is a different breed. 9. Only market birds and hobbyist showbirds may be de-beaked, de-winged and de-toed. 10. Exhibitors are responsible for providing daily food and water to birds. 11. Only Champion or Reserve Champion meat birds, ducks, turkeys and geese are allowed in the livestock sale. NO entries on chick growing and laying flock are allowed. 12. It is recommended that all birds exhibited be sold after release from the show and not returned to the flock. (Check health requirement.) 13. All meat birds for meat growing classes must be hatched during the current year. 14. Best of Show Exhibitor must be present during judging of class.
