ALL entrants much have read and be familiar with the Colorado State Fair General Competition Requirements, General Livestock Competition Requirements, Junior Livestock Competition Requirements, Junior Livestock Sale Competition Requirements, and Health Requirements. Small Animal Department Competition Requirements Apply. Exhibitors in this Division must comply with the Wholesome Meat provisions and IAFE Code of Ethics, and Colorado Premise I.D. Requirements.

Exhibitors in this department must be bona fide members of a Colorado 4-H Club or FFA Chapter, but do not have to be a county fair winner. 4-H and FFA exhibitors must not have reached their 19 th birthday as of January 1 of the current year. Entry forms must be signed by the County Extension Agent or Vocational Agriculture Instructor and a parent or guardian to certify that this is the project of the exhibitor in good standing and to the best of his/her knowledge is eligible to be shown in accordance with the rules of this show, and that the animal entered is owned and in the continuous possession of the exhibitor. 3. Nomination Intent to Exhibit forms postmarked by County Agent not later than July 6, Exhibitor may nominate as many market pens as they wish, however, only 4 (Four) may be brought to the fair. 4. Any market animal that has been sold at a county sale, district sale or premium sale after the specified ownership date (10 weeks of age, i.e. June 20 th of the current year) is not eligible for competition at the current year Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock sale. That sale is considered consummated when the animal is sold at auction. 5. Market Pens Qualifying for Junior Livestock Sale are subject to testing as per Junior Livestock Sale rules. Refer to Junior Livestock Sale Qualifying rules. MARKET RABBIT CLASSES Division 3001 MARKET RABBIT MEAT PEN Californian Meat Pen (3) 1501 New Zealand Meat Pen (3) 1502 Satin Meat Pen (3) 1503 Palomino Meat Pen (3) 1504 Champagne d Argent /Creme d Argent Meat Pen (3) 1505 All Other Purebred Meat Pen (3) 1506 Division 051 SINGLE FRYER (Enter Extra Rabbit in this class) Single Fryer 1502 Fryer Fur 1503F 1. Market Rabbit Pen Entry: Exhibitors may enter and check-in four (4) rabbits for each pen of three (3) entered, (i.e., 4 rabbits may come to the fair). If exhibitor anticipates bringing an alternate rabbit to complete the Market Rabbit Pen, please make an entry in the Single Fryer Class (Class 1502, Division 051) of the Youth Rabbit Show. This extra rabbit may be entered at that time without a late fee or a substitution fee. Any rabbit not entered with the Market Entry must be removed from the showroom. This does allow the extra rabbit to be placed for sale according to Colorado State Fair Sales Competition Requirements for Rabbits. This rabbit will need to be moved to a cooping area designated for Single Fryers. The exhibitor will choose the pen of three (3) to be the Official Pen to be shown by 8:30 PM, Friday, August 28, Ear Tattoo numbers must be designated on the card at the time the Official Card is turned in to the office. Each rabbit within the pen must have an individual tattoo in left ear. A scale will be available for exhibitors to weigh prior to turning in the Nomination and Official Weight Card. Scale pre-weighs will close at 8:30 PM, Friday, August 28. No changes of Ear Tattoo numbers will be allowed after 8:30 PM, Friday, August 28, Failure to turn in Nomination and Official Weight Card by the specified time will automatically disqualify the exhibitor from competing. Rabbits will need to be removed from the showroom. Any Ear Tattoo numbers found to be different at time of judging will disqualify the entire pen. Each pen of three will be weighed only one time for official show weight at time of judging. Official show weights will be recorded by the ARBA Licensed Judge and/or the Department of Agriculture Superintendent of Weight & Measurement Standards. No reweighs are allowed.
3 2. Market Rabbit Pens will be judged according to the latest ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Assn.) Standard of Perfection Meat pens shall consist of three rabbits, all of the same breed and variety. If the pen is from a Breed having a broken color variety, the entire pen must be of the same color variety. A meat pen does not necessarily have to come from the same litter. Age limit of 10 weeks minimum weight of 3 pounds each and maximum weight of 5 pounds each. All rabbits will be weighed in the presence of the judge. RABBIT PENS WILL BE JUDGED ON: Meat Type Points Condition of Flesh Points Uniformity of body & weight Points Fur Points 6. DISQUALIFICATIONS FROM COMPETITION: If any one rabbit in the pen is overweight or underweight, the entire pen is disqualified from Competition. If any one rabbit in the pen is disqualified from Competition, the entire pen becomes disqualified. All ARBA Disqualifications from Competition and breed disqualifications apply to each meat pen. EXCEPTION TO DISQUALIFICATION ONLY ON THE FOLLOWING: Body smut on Californian or Himalayan marked animals. Non-descended testicles on bucks. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SALE QUALIFIERS: The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Market Pen Rabbits will qualify for the Junior Livestock Sale. This is a Terminal Sale for all Market Qualifiers. All Junior Livestock Sale rules apply to Market Rabbit Qualifying Pens. Qualified exhibitors are required to attend a meeting of all sale qualifiers which will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9:00 AM. The Junior Livestock Sale will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 beginning with pre-sale activities at 2:00 PM and the Colorado Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale begins at 3:30 PM. NON-QUALIFYING JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SALE MARKET PEN RABBITS: Market Rabbit Pens that do not qualify for the Junior Livestock Sale may remain in the showroom and be placed for sale in the Colorado State Fair Small Animal Sales Office. Please refer to Youth Poultry Sale Competition Requirements for Sales of Rabbits. CONTINUING FOR 2015 : Unloading and Pickup of Small Animals: All Small Animals (Poultry, Rabbits, Pigeons, Exotic Birds) will be received at the Small Animal Building. Enter the fair grounds at Gate #1. Follow wall past Gate #2---watch for pedestrians entering through Gate #2. Short-term unloading/loading is provided in designated area on East Side of Small Animal Barn. Driving to the South Side of Small Animal Barn is not allowed. To request assistance in transport of animals from parking area to the check-in, go to the Small Animal Building and check with either the Poultry Office or the Rabbit Office. CSF personnel will assist in this transport. Parking is not permitted on the South side of the Small Animal Barn for unloading/loading.
