1 Thirsk Northallerton Ruswarp Malton A Yorkshire family business for Yorkshire s farmers! NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015 IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR DIARY! There is much confusion about the new legislation for the continued use and purchase of aluminium phosphide (Talunex and Phostoxin), Spray chemicals and rodenticides. Anyone without the appropriate certificate of competence for these products will not be able to use them from the dates given below. Aluminium Phosphide. This comes into force on the 26 th November this year. Anyone wanting to buy and/or use these products from this date must have the BASIS certificate in crop protection (Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Control). We will still stock the products and we too have to obtain the certificate of competence to sell it, so please ensure you book on the training course before this date if you want to buy either Talunex or Phostoxin. Spray Chemicals. Everyone applying professional pesticides and herbicides must hold an appropriate certificate from the 26 th November this year. However, the purchaser does not need to hold a certificate but is legally responsible to make sure the end user holds an appropriate certificate. Rodenticides. Please see this months Farmer Sue Tickle Column for more details. Please note if you read our classified section there are details of a training group where you can obtain details of the appropriate training courses. THE FARMER SUE TICKLE COLUMN Sue Tickle HAS NOT been claimed from last month s newsletter, please check your Newsletter as she could be hiding in yours! If you find Sue in your Newsletter you win a 50 voucher to spend in store. Keep an eye out for farmer Sue Tickle this month! Question: Is it correct from next year I won t be able to buy rat bait? Answer: From the 1st June 2016 all rodenticides in pack sizes more than 3 kg will display a stewardship label which states that the purchaser and end user must have the appropriate certificate of competence to buy and use those products. From this date, anyone wishing to buy professional rodenticides (but not fumigants) will need to hold a certificate of competence in rodent pest control. However, if you are a member of the Red Tractor farm assurance scheme, you will be deemed competent to continue to purchase and use rodenticides until December After then, everyone will need to obtain the appropriate certificate. If you have a question for Sue, it to info@greensfarmsupplies.co.uk and it may feature in next month s newsletter. Tel. Thirsk or Northallerton

A London lawyer representing a wealthy and well known art collector called and asked to speak to his client. "James he said, I have some good news and, I have some bad news." The art collector replied, "I've had an awful day; let's hear the good news first." The lawyer said, "Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she invested 5000 in two pictures that she thinks will bring a minimum of 5-10 million. I think she could be right." James replied enthusiastically, "Well done! My wife is a brilliant business woman! You've just made my day. Now I know I can handle the bad news. What is it? The lawyer replied, "The pictures are of you with your secretary." anna@greensfarmsupplies.co.uk ADVERTISE WITH GREEN S CLASSIFIED CALL NOV 2015 Over 800 copies are sent out direct to local farms.
