3 (from the 12/6/17 meeting) BRAGS Kelly Selena went National Owner Handler Series Group 1 on Saturday at the San Joaquin Kennel Club Show. Helen bragged that Rowan picked up 2 points towards her championship going WB on Friday and Saturday of the Del Valle weekend. Randee bragged that Mimi is pregnant. Sagee and 2 of his brothers were on the Jumbotron at the Barracuda hockey game. Josh bragged that Seleya went WB at the San Joaquin Kennel Club show on Monday. 4 GGKC Photos Golden Gate Kennel Club Show By Kelly Collins The Northern California Siberian Husky Club once again had a club bench at the 2018 Golden Gate Kennel Club show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Although we had only 4 dogs on the bench, and one other club member dog entered at the show, we did represent over half the Siberian entry. Sunday morning awaiting the crowds With the scare of the dog flu that had a recent increase in cases in the South Bay, we asked all spectators to use hand sanitizer before petting the dogs. People were very open to this and many commented on what a good idea. We felt the hand sanitizer worked not only to protect the dogs but also couldn't hurt to give people a little extra protection against the human flu as well. The fun thing was watching the number of people that sanitized on their way away from the bench as well as when they approached. The crowds were large throughout the day on Saturday and the day went very quickly. Sunday we had a bit of a break in the morning and afternoon but midday we were kept quite busy with all the people wanting to meet our Siberians. Riser looking handsome for his public Club member's dogs did very well at the shows winning Winners Dog and a BOW x 2; Winners Bitch and a BOW x 2; Select Dog x 2; Best of Opposite Sex x 2 and Best of Breed Owner Handler. Although the Golden Gate Kennel Club show has changed in that people don't seem to come looking for information on the dog breeds like they did in the past, it is still a great opportunity to allow the public to meet our wonderful dogs and get to know the Siberian temperament up close and personal. A little information on the Golden Gate Kennel Club, it is one of only 3 benched dogs show left in the United States. Westminster Kennel Club and Philadelphia Kennel Club being the other two leaving GGKC as the only benched show on the West Coast. It is always fun being a small part of history and the way dog shows used to be before many of us were involved in dog shows. Hope to see you all next year! Bench set up on Friday, just add dogs
