5 Minutes of Meeting, July 7, 2012 (Dallas, TX) Report by Sarah Helber, Secretary The meeting was called to order at 10:03 a.m. Attendees Members in attendance were: Dennis & Deb Lyons, Sarah Helber, Glenda Fick, Theresa Hunter, Cynthia Parker and Pat Thomas. Guests were Lori Henderson, Tammy Fambro, Tiffany Fambro and Pam White. Minutes of the Last Meeting The minutes of the last meeting were approved as published. Report of the President Dennis said that a fun time was had (people and dogs) at the April Fun Day. Thanks to Cynthia & Jeff for hosting. Report of the Secretary Sarah read the thank you note from Joni Freshman, who judged our Regional Specialty. Report of the Treasurer The Treasurer's Report was passed around for review. Report of Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee has nominated the slate of: President - Dennis Lyons (first of two-year term) Vice-President - Pat Thomas Secretary - Sarah Helber Treasurer - Shirley Stowe (first of two-year term) Board Members Gerard Bermel and Glenda Fick In addition, Jeff Curran will continue to serve as the immediate past President. Having no additional nominations, this slate will take effect at the October meeting. Report of Committee - DOTC Agility Trial Support Cynthia hasn't talked to Denise Huff yet, but presumes that we will be working the DOTC agility trial the weekend of October 13-14, 2012 in McKinney. Report of Committee Regional Specialty Since we had agreed to alternate between panel judges and breeder judges, our judge in 2013 will be Donavan Thompson (from the TCSA panel). Our sweepstakes judge will be Theresa Hunter, and our obedience judge, shared with (and chosen by) the Dalmatian club, will be Gene Norman. In addition, Cynthia reported that Denise Tatro had investigated moving the Fort Worth shows to the Fort Worth Convention Center. Unfortunately, on Friday the parking lots would be filled with work-day parking, the hotel room requirement was excessive, and the loading dock was designed only for 18- wheelers. Will Rogers will be re-doing the barn area with concrete flooring and large fans and re-routing Harley street (which will of course mean construction during the process). Cynthia also mentioned that in 2014 we will want a breeder judge and, if we were to have one that could judge other breeds, perhaps that judge could be included on the panel for that weekend. Cynthia is looking for suggestions, since the clubs are now looking for their 2014 judges. Page5

6 MINUTES, Continued And finally, there was a discussion of supporting the shows the same weekend, or at least contributing trophies. We do have quite a few trophies that haven't been won. Election of New Members We received an application for membership from Lori Henderson of Denton. Lori was voted into membership. New Business - Membership We need new members. Cynthia mentioned that some clubs have a better response when they start doing things that are not at the dog shows. She asked that members put on their thinking caps and come up with some new activities. There was a discussion of ABTC's requirement that new ABTC members be an associate member prior to becoming a member - even if they had previously been a member. New Business Regional Specialty Deb Lyons will be doing the trophies. She brought some nice samples, and there was a discussion of what might be offered (including the possibility of a voucher for a customized trophy). She will be able to finalize our trophies based on the actual entry, so we shouldn't have so many left-over trophies. New Business - TKC Breed Directory Cynthia mentioned that TKC will be updating their Breed Directory soon, and they will need updated information. New Business - TKC Spring Shows Just for our information, Cynthia said that TKC, in conjunction with Greater Collin County Kennel Club, will hold Obedience and Rally Trials (only) at the Mesquite Rodeo Arena on April 19-21, 2013 (3 days). New Business - Links on LSBTC Website It was VOTED unanimously to allow LSBTC members to have a link to their own websites included on the LSBTC website for their own endeavors. Sarah will ask Susan to include a note in Trails, and will give Lori Henderson's information to Pat. Deb Lyons will get her information to Pat. Brags Cynthia had a BIG BRAG on GCH MACH Clipper! She is only the second Terv to be both a Grand Champion and a MACH. Sarah mentioned that she'd heard that Shawn's Dreamer was now CH Dreamer NAJ. Theresa Hunter bragged on Crunch, who is finally locked in on sheep and doing well in her herding. It was mentioned that we have a few TV celebrities. During the National, a local TV station did an extensive segment on the agility. Cynthia, Shawn and Pat were all included in the segment. Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 during the DOTC agility trial. Adjournment The meeting adjourned 10:52 a.m. Page 6

A rowdy time was had by all! Theresa, Susan, with Cherish getting seriously rowdy, and a polite Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy! Cherish doesn't want Casanova to get a treat!
