6 The meeting was called to order at 6:43 p.m. Minutes of Meeting, March 23, 2012 (Fort Worth, Texas) Attendees Members in attendance were: Dennis & Deb Lyons, Glenda Fick, Susan Hervey, Sarah Helber, Gerard Bermel, Theresa Ann Hunter, Pat Thomas, Cynthia Parker and visitor Joni Freshman. Minutes of the Last Meeting The minutes of the last meeting were approved as published. Report of the President Dennis mentioned that the Board had voted to pay for dinners for club members for this year, and everyone thanked the Board. Dennis also suggested another Play Day, and it was decided to hold it on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 PM at Cynthia & Jeff's. Report of the Secretary Sarah reported that the ABTC Annual Report had been filed, and that a Nominating Committee would be required. Report of the Treasurer The Treasurer's Report was passed around for review. Report of Committee - Brags 'n Bitches The Brags 'n Bitches dinner raised $790 for Belgian Tervuren Rescue, Inc. Report of Committee - DOTC Agility Trial Support DOTC greatly appreciates our help. Cynthia said that they had said they can't do it without us! Report of Committee Regional Specialty All went well. Thanks to Theresa for getting our trophies. Election of New Members No applications received. Unfinished Business None New Business - Nominating Committee A nominating committee was recruited for this year, to be chaired by Cynthia Parker with Jeff Curran and Deb Lyons members. Pat, Sarah, and Gerard agreed to continue in their capacity, if the Nominating Committee so chooses. Glenda Fick offered to serve on the Board. New Business Regional Specialty There was discussion of holding a Regional Specialty next year. Cynthia suggested we alternate years between panel judges and breeder judges. Deb Lyons made a motion that we hold one next year, and Theresa Hunter seconded it. It was VOTED that we will hold our 2013 Regional Specialty in conjunction with the Texas Combined Specialty Association in Fort Worth. Page 6

7 MINUTES, Continued Discussion Theresa thanked everyone again for contributing (along with Trinity Valley Belgian Sheepdog Club and some Belgian Malinois individuals) to the purchase of a K9 protection vest from K9 Storm. It went to a Malinois in the Border Patrol. Brags Theresa bragged on Chip's earning a Herding High In Trial. Cynthia bragged that she and Clipper had received a score of 190 the previous weekend, and that their qualifying today was Clipper's CD. Also, Clipper is 31 points short of her MACH (and counting). Sarah bragged that Jordan would be 14 years old on May 1, and he was still going to a Novice Polish obedience class, as well as the Shaping Roundtable. Glenda bragged on Sprint's earning her Grand Championship. Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 after breed judging at the Market Hall Shows in Dallas. Adjournment The meeting adjourned 7:17 p.m. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * DUES ARE DUE "Membership dues shall be $10.00 for single membership and $15.00 for family membership per year, payable on or before the first day of June each year. No member may vote whose dues are not paid for the current club year." Per the LSBTC Constitution: A membership shall be considered lapsed and automatically terminated if such member's dues remain unpaid 60 days after the first of June of each year. 8 NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT In accordance with the LSBTC Constitution, Article IV Section 4, the nominating committee has presented the following slate of officers for the year beginning at the annual meeting, October The nominations are: President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer Board Dennis Lyons Pat Thomas Sarah Helber Shirley Stowe Glenda Fick Gerard Bermel Jeff Curran - Past President (Submitted by the Nominating Committee: Cynthia Parker, Chair; Deb Lyons, and Jeff Curran.) ADDITIONAL NOMINATIONS by Susan Hervey The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to insure there will be at least one candidate for each office. Additional nominations can be submitted as delineated in the By-Laws: Additional nominations of eligible members may be submitted to the Secretary in writing and accompanied by the written acceptance of each additional nominee stating their willingness to be a candidate and endorsed by three members in good standing. Such nominations must be received by the Secretary no later than June 30 th. No person shall be a candidate for more than one position. If no valid nominations are received by the Secretary on or before June 30 th, the Nominating Committee s slate shall be declared elected and the membership so notified. If additional nominations are received by the Secretary they shall be included in the ballots which shall be sent out to the members by the Secretary prior to July 31 st. Page 8
