2 Welcome to the 16th Annual Highland Bull Sale We would like to invite you to Bragg Creek for the 16th Annual Highland Bull Sale on March 16th, 2019 at 1pm. This year we will be offering yearling Limousin, Angus, Limflex and Percentage Limousin bulls, as well as an offering of select yearling heifers. We chose to feed the bulls at Cattleland and to feed the heifers at home this winter. As always our Limousin bulls all have genetic profiles to determine, either by pedigree or test whether they are homozygous polled or homozygous black. Our ultimate goal at Highland is to be a strictly homozygous polled herd. This is the most valuable trait that we can pass along to our commercial producers, because no matter what you breed them to, they will have polled progeny. We this year have our bull offering of all homozygous polled except for one bull. This year to make a great addition to our sale, are Angus bulls from Anthony Murphy and Jacob Devry. As well we were pleased to add another offering of percentage Limousin bulls from Neil and Deneen Brown of Double 4 Angus; the owners of our Champion Bull Highland Boston, of the percentage bulls. We will be again offering a Sight Unseen Plan- if you are unable to attend the sale and wish to purchase, you may contact Rob, Amanda or Chris and anyone of the sale staff and we will help you fill your order. When the bull is delivered, if you are not satisfied we will then take the bull back at no cost to you. We will help with delivery arrangements and deliver free up to 300 miles it would however, be greatly appreciated if any bulls could be picked up sale day or no later than May 1st. If you use a homozygous polled bull, you will not have to deal with horns. We do not use the term double polled as all it means is that the parents are polled and the offspring have not been tested or they did not pass the homozygous test. We have only used homozygous bulls for several years and our goal is to have homozygous polled herd of which we will be very close to 90% by the end of 2019!!!

We have since asked the Brown s to retain a set of strong percentage bulls for us to offer in our bull sale. On offering are five impressive bull, all homozygous polled and homozygous black. We have already asked Neil to allow us the selection of the 2019 crop for next year. 12 ANGUS BULLS This year our offering of Angus bulls comes from two different producers, De Vry Custom Farming, Lacombe, Alberta and Murphy Cattle Co. Wetaskiwin, Alberta. These bulls were selected from cows that came from the late Doug Henderson s herd. Selected on birthweight, docility and pedigree. We are very impressed by this selection of Angus bulls.
