We lost our Frankie last week and it s been hard to get back in the swing of things. He is in a better place, pain free and happy. Thanks for your understanding. So, back to work. The banquet is in less than 10 days and I wanted to thank everyone that has donated items and already sent in their RSVP s. If you haven t sent yours in or if you have something to donate, please let me know as soon as possible. I would like to give credit where it is due. Also, I would like to thank all that have helped in preparing for the Banquet. Dave Auten, CJ Hamilton, Russell Page, The Torres Family, Marilyn Vinson, Karl Von Wolff and my husband Don for not complaining about the time I am spending wrapped up in the preparations. I also need volunteers to step up and come out to the EXPO to represent the club. If you have the Gift of Gab come out chat with passers by, maybe we can pick up a couple of new members. I will bring Membership info and Training day fliers to pass out. How about bringing out your dog to show off? I need you on Saturday or Sunday, or both days if you can make it. I hope to see you all at the Banquet and at the upcoming trials. 2 Farewell Frankie All Dogs Go To Heaven By: Don McNabb February 27th, :04 pm, a date and time burned into our memory, a pain like no other. 2 weeks prior we had noticed Frankie was losing weight, he had been throwing up a bit more too, he always had a sensitive stomach so it did not seem to odd. A day later and he was still not looking himself so off to Dr. Steven's office. We were not prepared in any way, shape or form for the news and events that would follow all too fast. Frankie was diagnosed with Acute Kidney Disease, by the time the blood tests confirmed it he was too far gone. This was Friday, we made him comfortable and removed all restrictions from him. Anything he would eat we gave him and he slept any where he wanted. We had hoped that like my Mom's cat, Frankie would rebound and live a few more years in comfort, sadly his health moved all too swiftly for the worse. On Wednesday the 27th Frankie laid in my lap and told me in his way that it was ok, he would be better off with God, he knew what I had to do and it was ok. At 2:04 pm, in the back seat of my truck Dr. Porter took away his pain, she set him free. Wendy and I cried like babies, we told him what a good boy he was and how very much we loved him. I carried Frankie in my arms into the office, one last hug and kiss to last eternity. Frankie had touched so many lives in his 11 years, people that knew Frankie long before I did reached out to us from all across the country, most of them we do not even know. The message was the same, Frankie was indeed a special dog, he was the best ambassador our breed and canines could ask for. He was the best friend I ever had.

3 Letter from the President AZPDC President Karl Von Wolff Wow has the year flown by, hard to believe it was just about a year ago that the current board and officers took their positions and started the trial season. February marked the first trial of the year, attendance was a little low due to members on pig hunts and other obligations, but those that attended had a good time. It was good to see every one again, as well as few new faces and some from previous years. This year s trial season should be a fun one, we ll be taking the month of March off due to the Banquet. Which reminds me, if you have any items for the raffle, please let Wendy know, and as well let her know if you plan to attend. It should be a good banquet, with home cooked barbeque, and some very nice raffle items, as well as some very nice guns in the auction. We ll also be holding our annual elections, so please plan to attend. As I mentioned in last month s meeting, we re signed up with the Arizona Game and Fish Expo the weekend of March 23 and 24, if you are interested in manning the both, please let me know, right now I have about 3-4 folks but we can use several more folks so that any one person is not stuck with a long assignment. This is a great opportunity to get new members as well as share what our clubs does, so please if you have time either of those days, please come out and represent our club. There will be a training session coming up in April at the High Desert Hunt Club, it is open to members only, and should be a good time, so plan to come on out and get some training it. Lastly, I want to thank everyone that helped in some way shape for form last year, either at the meetings, at a trial, or with training, the club truly appreciates your help. 6 Welcome to the trial season. We had our first trial in February and although turnout was slim, we all managed to have a good time. It was nice to see some old faces and some new. The weather was great on Saturday, the classes moved along smoothly and we were done for the day by 2:00. Sunday was a little windy but we still managed to get in some good dog work. Some of the classes scored close and a couple of run-offs settled the score. Below are the results for both days.some good dogs are already in the top. Get your dogs together and come out in April for some good competition. Hope to see you there. 8 The AZPDC presents a two day training session. April 20th and 21st Using time tested fundamentals, we will not only do a short field class room session on the basics but will also work in the field with groups of dogs and handlers. We will cover the proper equipment to use and how to get the most from it. Please do not buy anything for this as we will have some things available for you to use in the field for this event. You will need to bring food and water for you and your dog(s) This will be an hour north of Phoenix near Cordes Junction. At the High Desert Hunt Club. This event is not being conducted by the Hunt Club, They are letting us use their facilities. Please do not call them for information. Contact Rich Hale This will be a one day event and if I get enough people we will stay over and work Sunday also. This would be really nice for the Saturday folks to put to use again what they just learned on Saturday. There is an unimproved area that we can use to camp Saturday night. No water, no electricity, no TV, and no WiFi! There are motels and restaurants not far from the site if you are interested. This event will be for Arizona Pointing Dog Club members only. You may join on line. I will have more information in a later ing with more details. Please let me know if you will attend and if you would like to stay for Sunday also.
