Birds chirping, flowers blooming, and yes, dogs running around. February means, just one more month before the annual banquet, which unofficially starts the hunting season! I know that like most of you, I await the season with open arms. On a side note- Vortex is offering military discounts! Go to for the full discount details. Spoil your pup with shamrock love! Ingredients 1 cup flour 1 tablespoon parsley 1 tablespoon grated carrots 2 tablespoons flaxseed oil ½ cup low-sodium beef broth Parchment paper Recipe Shamrock cookie cutter Mix flour, carrots and parsley together in mixer Add flaxseed oil, mix Add beef broth; mix until all dry ingredients are moistened Roll dough out on floured surface to a 1/8 thick sheet Cut into shamrocks using a cookie cutter Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper Bake at 375 for minutes, cool and serve!

2 Letter from the President Our annual banquet is less than a week away! The planning is in full swing headed up by Nancy Graham. If you would like to help with the festivities please shoot her an at negraham@centurylink.net. I m sure she would love the help. I hope to see everyone there. PayPal is set up on the banquet website. It would be helpful if you could order your tickets via PayPal. Don t miss out; there will be some great things to be raffled off including a kids table! The new schedule for the year is up and we are working on simplifying the rules in order to make the judging more understandable. For those of you unable to make it to the annual training day, you really missed out on some fun! Thank You Patrick Moore and Guy Mollicone for helping with the dogs and let s not forget Walt, Joe and Rocco for your help as well. I am looking forward to a great year of fun as our 2017 season will soon kick off. Remember to take a look at the schedule to make your plans! See you on the field. And what will we take from November? To some of us, the pheasants will seem smarter, the quail and grouse faster, the ducks a little higher than we remember. It is not important that we do especially well; it is important only that we went. Gene Hill

3 New Class: Sportsman Class We are thrilled to announce a new class this season that will provide training opportunities for all. This class will not be eligible for awards; however, the chance to put new pups and new hunters in the field is reward enough! Below are a few highlights of the class: Premium Entry: a premium entry will be required as with all other classes 30 minute Brace: Time Limit of 30 minutes which includes the time for planting birds Handler Planting: Handlers will be responsible for planting their own birds One day event: This class is only available on Saturday of each trial Safety Meeting required: safety is always a priority. Attendance is mandatory. Drawing for braces : As is standard process, drawings will occur for braces Class Limit of 12 dogs $25.00 entry fee, which includes 3 quail Marshall shall determine if a safety monitor is needed in the brace Both handlers have to agree if they are going to work birds together in the field
