1 Page 1 As a reminder, daycare will be closed on Friday, November 11 th for Veteran s Day. Daycare closes at 1pm on Wednesday 11/23 and is closed Thursday 11/24 Saturday 11/26 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We hope you have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Scooter and Lilly look at these two they are practically twins except for the 50lb weight difference! Scooter is an active Boston Terrier and Lilly an oh-sosweet Pit Bull mix. They both enjoy playing HARD at daycare on Mondays. If your dogs are extra tired on Monday evenings, you have Scooter and Lilly to thank these two wear everyone else out! Besides the fact that I look adorable in my pumpkin costume, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the health benefits that pumpkin provides for us dogs! What Simon is excited about this month! Pumpkin provides excellent fiber by adding just a small portion to your dog s daily diet (1/4 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon, depending on your dog s weight) it will help keep your dog regular meaning no diarrhea or constipation! Many vets prescribe pumpkin as part of the treatment for intestinal malady, as well as simply a healthful dietary supplement it s considered a super food that works well to keep your dog s digestive system working properly. AND we LOVE the taste of it! It s a win win! Before you toss aside those Halloween pumpkins, consider chopping them up and cooking them once the skin is removed and the insides are tender, you can mash it and freeze it easily. Canned pumpkin is also great just make sure you buy pure pumpkin with no sugar added. We have some here that is 100% organic and it s YUMMY!

2 Well, it s official the holidays are upon us! What s going on around Go Play! We here at Go Play! have a lot going on this holiday season including a HUGE clearance sale happening later this month! We will also be offering holiday photos and getting our holiday products out for sale soon! Page 2 This weekend was COLD brrrr! I m really glad I had my jackets to keep me warm. We have a lot of really nifty coats in stock, so bring your dog in for a fitting! We also have Safe Paw ice melt available as well as Musher s Secret paw wax in order to keep all of the dogs feet comfortable this winter. My new pals for the month are: Zoey, Rafe, Ziva, Olive, Louie, Cali, Durga, Bandit, Magee, Kass, Lucky, Tucker, Archie, Cleo, Coco, Mandy, Danny, Zoey, Holli, and Rosco! Hope to see you around! Motherhood is the ultimate accessory What every discriminating dog needs to wear! Here I am, happily asleep with my two boys resting on my back. This is far cuter than any collar or jacket now, isn t it? However, my new favorite thing to show off is my Rubit dog tag clip. This is a GREAT invention a stylish gal like me changes collars as frequently as you humans change your clothes. This clip holds all my important tags securely, yet makes it easy to change collars quickly! This way, I can always look good AND have my documents on me at all times!

3 My favorite treats this month! Page 3 I have to be honest and say that I LOVE THANKSGIVING. There is food, food, and well..more food! And that s why my parents put me in charge of this column I don t like anything else in life as much as I LIKE FOOD! So, this Thanksgiving, I will be dining on Merrick s Thanksgiving Day Dinner canned food. It has everything I love turkey, sweet potatoes, carrots, beans AND it has it s own gravy! The best part about the Merrick canned food is that you can actually see the meat and vegetables inside. It tastes great and is healthy! A true toy boy, Jabber gives his monthly toy review! While not really a toy, my new favorite item is the Nylabone Dental Dinosaur. It s great they have all different dinosaur shapes (my fav is the T-Rex!!) and you are ALLOWED TO CHEW THEM. Do you hear me, dogs? This is something that we are ALLOWED to chew! They have these plastic nubbies that clean my teeth you should see how shiny white my teeth are after a session with my T- Rex! And they last forever! I ve had mine since I was a puppy and I m almost a year old now!

4 Dear Apollo, The holidays are approaching this means LOTS of company at my house! AND I LOVE COMPANY! However, I ve overheard my parents talking about me having to spend lots of time in my crate due to my bad manners. I don t WANNA be in my crate Page 4 I want to be out with the COMPANY! Although still a puppy, Apollo is wise beyond his years! Any ideas how I can shape up before company arrives? Signed, In The Doghouse Dear ITD, I know it s unbelievable, but there really are people who don t like to go to a house where a dog jumps on them, begs for food, slobbers all over the place, and scoots their bum across the rug. Here are some easy tips to prevent you from spending the holiday season stuck in your crate make sure you tell your parents to work on these tips with you NOW don t wait until company is at the door! No assaulting the guests. We dogs like to say hello in a pretty boisterous manner we may jump up, be mouthy, play kissy face, and may even throw in a few pelvic thrusts out of excitement. This is normal in dog language, but a big no no in the human world. The best way to greet a human is to politely sit and allow them to pat us. I know, I know.boring. But it s what people like, so we gotta give it to them. Have your humans put you on a leash when someone arrives at the door. Your human can use a tasty tidbit as a reward and ask you to sit. Then have the guest pat you while you are sitting. If you jump up or act out, the guest will back away from you. You will only get patted for holding a quiet sit. If your humans practice this enough with every person you meet, you will soon learn to offer this polite behavior when company arrives. NO begging for food. This is a toughie especially if your people like to feed you from the table (bad humans BAD!) If you normally get a goodie (or two) from the table, it s not fair for your humans to expect you to suddenly stop this behavior. If that s the case, you are better off in your crate with something yummy to chew on during dinner time. If you don t get fed from the table on a regular basis (gooood humans!) then have your humans start practicing a down stay during meals to make sure you stay out of the way with company in the house. They will need to start off by having you stay down for just a minute while they sit at the table and then work up to staying for an hour or two! Harmony between humans and canines. This is the most important humans have to understand that some of their customs might make us nervous or uncomfortable. If you are a shy dog, having ten people in the living room yelling at the football game on TV might make you nervous. Make sure your humans understand that just like them, some of us LOVE to be the life of the party while others are a little more solitary. If you are nervous, your humans should allow you to spend some quiet time alone in your crate or perhaps a quiet bedroom. Good luck, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! -Apollo P.S. Make sure your humans save you some TURKEY!!!!!
