BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed (Variety) Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which according to their owner s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed Competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. NON-REGULAR CLASSES (Involving Multiple Dog Entries) Note: Chapter 11, Section 8 of the Dog Show Rules provides that castrated males may be entered as the Stud Dog & spayed females may be entered as the Brood Bitch. As the judge s decision in the Non-Regular Classes involving Multiple Dog Entries is based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won these classes. ATTENTION EXHIBITORS IN STUD DOG & BROOD BITCH CLASSES: Rules Applying to Dog Shows, AKC Chapter 14, Section 2: (Applying to all Get & Produce Shown) Any club or association giving a dog show must provide arm cards & shall see that every person exhibiting a dog wears, when in the ring, an arm card containing thereon the catalog number of the dog being exhibited. STUD DOG CLASS: For Stud Dogs and two of their get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. Get only to be judged, based on the merits of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Get must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition, or some other non-regular class. BROOD BITCH CLASS: For Brood Bitches and two of their Produce. Brood Bitches must be entered in the Brood Bitch Class and must be shown in the ring with their Produce. The owner of the Brood Bitch need not necessarily be owner of the Produce. While the merits of the Brood Bitch are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Brood Bitch must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy, or the standard for its breed. Produce must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition, or some other non-regular class. BRACE CLASS Offered at Dalmatian Club of America Only: Two dogs that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner. The dogs comprising a Brace MUST be named at the time of entry. If a dog, which is to be part of a Brace, is not entered in any of the Regular Classes or for Best of Breed Competition, it must be entered for Brace Class Only. An entry form for a dog entered in a Regular Class or for Best of Breed Competition and entered as part of a Brace MUST be marked accordingly in the space provided for Additional Classes, Brace Class. PET DEPOSIT A pet deposit of $50.00 will be charged for each room in which a dog is present. MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DOGS PER GUESTROOM A maximum number of four dogs is permitted in each guestroom. Under no circumstances will puppies under the age of six months be permitted in hotel rooms. PET POLICY Plastic will be provided at check-in and required under all dog crates. Guests with dogs in the room must display the door hanger provided at check in. All dogs left unattended in guest rooms must be secured in crates. Housekeepers will not service rooms in which dogs are loose and unattended. No dog bathing is permitted in any guestrooms under any circumstances. Dogs must be on leash when outside the guest rooms. Dogs are not permitted in any eating establishments. Go to order forms page to make your reservation either online or via the printed order form. The cost per night is $35 and there is a 5 night minimum requirement. Cell phone numbers are required with RV Reservations. Spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. All campers are expected to keep their RV sites clean and orderly and leave them in as good of shape as they found them. Absolutely no dumping of gray or black water tanks under penalty of state and local laws and an AKC bench show action. An RV pumping service will be offered during the event at a cost of $45. One water tank refill will be offered the same day at no charge. Several RV parks are located close to the show site Other RV Campsite Options can be found at Flying to Portland? Portland International Airport (PDX) is less than 5 minutes from the DCA Host Hotel and show site. Rental cars are available at the airport, but due to the proximity of the hotel/show site and the shuttle provided by the hotel for you and your dog, renting a car isn t necessary. Please note that Alaska Airlines, the airline that charges only $100 each way to fly your dog, is offering DCA passengers a 7% discount off of their lowest published fares for trips between May 1 and May 14, That can amount to more than $50 savings for each passenger. If you plan to go sightseeing, use the money you save to rent a car and enjoy the great Northwest while you re here. If you are flying to Portland, the Meeting Fare Code is ECMU878. If you are flying nonstop to Seattle and driving down, your meeting code is ECMV052. Book online instead of by phone to avoid a booking fee. Please visit: JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION DCA ONLY NOVICE CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice class. Juniors which according to their records have completed the requirements to compete in the Open class but whose status is unconfirmed by the American Kennel Club are limited to competing in the Open Class for a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the Junior completed the requirements according to their records. MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. Novice AND OPEN Class divided: Junior-9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show; Intermediate-12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show; Senior-15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show. NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry. 8 ALL CLUSTER EVENTS MAY 9-MAY 13, 2014 The American Kennel Club Rules and Regulations will govern this Show and Exhibitors must make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this Show Premium List. The American Kennel Club will collect: a $3.00 Event Service Fee and $.50 Recording Fee where applicable for the first entry of a dog, plus a $3.00 service fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single-entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. At every licensed or member club rally trial, a recording fee of $3.50 is required for the first entry of each dog and a recording fee of $3.00 is required for each additional entry of the same dog. The event-giving club shall assume the responsibility of collecting all Event Service Fees for The American Kennel Club. These event service and recording fees shall be forwarded to The American Kennel Club along with all other required event results within seven (7) days of the close of the event. All AKC Rules & Regulations will be enforced by the show Committee under AKC guidelines. Failure to comply with these rules will result in charges being brought before the Show Event Committee. Any event hearing, disciplinary action, rule violations, complaints or charges will be resolved by the Dalmatian Club of America, Inc. National Specialty Show Committee and the Specialty Steering Committee Chairman, who also serves as the Show Event Committee Chairman. The Show Event Committee members are: Patti Strand, Sheila Wymore, Steve Nielsen, Ron Young and Terry Wissinger. No Entry will be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. Telegraph, and unsigned entries cannot be accepted and will be returned. Entries not on Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE. The Club and/or Baray Events assumes no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or the owner s agent. RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMPLETENESS OF ENTRY RESTS SOLELY WITH ENTRANT. RETURNED CHECKS DO NOT CONSTITUTE A VALID ENTRY FEE. BaRay Events will add a $25.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. We will not re-process checks. The exhibitor will be contacted & required to send a money order for the original amount PLUS the $25.00 NSF fee. Subsequent returned checks from same person may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY BASIS. REFUNDS for cancellations due to judge change or cancellations made prior to entries closing will be mailed by the Club to said Exhibitor or Agent AFTER THE SHOW. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries. FAX ENTRIES Fax entries will be accepted up to closing time. Fee is $4.00 per dog per show. If the credit card charge is denied for any reason, an additional service charge of $20.00 will be added. FAX NUMBER: (360) This is for Fax Machine ONLY. Incomplete or illegible Fax entries are not acceptable as a valid entry in a show. Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt of a legible or complete transmission (under AKC Rule Ch. 11, Sec. 4). A Fax- Friendly entry blank PDF is available for download at Entries will be acknowledged after entries close with entry acknowledgment and judging program to address on entry. Should Exhibitor NOT receive an acknowledgment within a reasonable time, PLEASE notify BaRay Events at (360) or dogshows@barayevents.com. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by the Judge or Veterinarian, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. There is no refund for DUPLICATE ENTRIES or OVERPAYMENTS. BaRay Events will make every effort to find all duplicate entries, but if entry has been processed, no refund will be made. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open, or to complete the Show NO REFUND will be made. To find out about any AKC event cancellations call the AKC Event Cancellation Hotline Please note: Any hotel or motel listed in the premium list is subject to Event Committee Rules. We expect our exhibitors to be responsible guests. A report that an exhibitor at this show has abused hotel or motel property during this weekend may result in disciplinary action. Clubs reserve the right to decline future entries from the offending party in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 11, Section 15 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. Only dogs eligible for these shows will be admitted into the show area. There is no provision for unentered dogs. LOSS OR DAMAGE The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but the show-giving club, the show superintendent and the Holiday Inn assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by the exhibitors, handlers or to any of their dogs or property. The welfare of an Exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children. No baby strollers are allowed in show building during show hours. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. ALL RIGHTS TO TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the Club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the Club. All persons entering this show grant to DCA the right to photograph, televise, videotape, audiotape or otherwise use Dalmatian NATIONAL CLUSTER

The Club is not responsible for the actions or products of the commercial vendors at this show. Dogs are not allowed in rest rooms and washing animal food containers in restrooms is prohibited. Exercise dogs in designated areas only. No grooming is allowed in the Conference Center except in the designated grooming and crating area. No working (practice) in rings before or after show hours. Dogs are allowed in rings only during judging hours. Unless otherwise specified, all trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed, except for those trophies that have been specified herein. This club does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Offcial AKC entry form for this event. Please be advised that when an exhibitor/handler brings a dog to the podium for a win/placement photo they are establishing a de facto contract with the show photographer to purchase that photo. Complaints lodged against any exhibitor or exhibitors will be under the auspices of the DCA Show Event Committee. Exhibitors must maintain these facilities in a clean & orderly fashion. The Show Event Committee will take disciplinary action against an exhibitor for any infringement of AKC Rules & Regulations regarding show sites & sportsmanship. The hotel will charge a one time, non-refundable pet fee of $50.00 per room with pet. Additionally, if there are damages to the room or hotel, charges will be assessed and billed to individual guest. Any exhibitor who allows his/her dogs to be loose & unattended in a room or to damage hotel property & does not immediately contact the hotel management to make proper restitution will be subject to a Show Event Committee action which could result in the loss of AKC privileges. If it is determined by the Committee hearing that rules are being neglected & destruction and/or misuse of property is taking place, the Committee has the authority to correct the problem or seek AKC suspension. The hotel will designate an area outside the Conference Center kitchen for dog washing stations. The hotel will transport guests and their dogs to and from the airport. Dog crates can be broken down and dogs will be permitted to ride with their owners as long as they are on a lead. It is helpful to the hotel to have arrival/departure times of guests to ensure appropriate staffing and reduce shuttle wait times. Dogs are prohibited in the restaurant, lounge, on 8th floor, and banquet/meeting rooms. (With the exception of grooming and show areas) A maximum of four (4) dogs allowed in each guest room (each must have its own crate) Under no circumstances will dog washing be permitted in hotel guest rooms. The hotel staff will report an infraction of this rule immediately to hotel management, which will then contact the DCA Show Chairman for immediate action. Dogs must be crated when unattended in guest rooms. Housekeepers will not service rooms in which dogs are loose and unattended. Either individual owners or the Dalmatian Club of America will be required to provide plastic under each crate. DCA guests with dogs in their rooms will use a door hanger provided by DCA at check in to indicate the presence of a dog in their room. It will be the responsibility of the Dalmatian Club of America to make sure all guests comply with the housekeeping staff of the hotel. Owners/Exhibitors must clean up after their dogs inside and outside the hotel. Please restrict dogs to designated outside potty and walking areas. Appropriate waste disposal bags must be used for cleanup. Upon arrival at The Holiday Inn Portland Airport, the guests with dogs in their rooms will sign a copy of the DCA Hotel Rules, which will be submitted to the hotel staff and placed on file. The hotel will not register a DCA guest staying in a room with dogs unless the signed copy of the Rules is presented by each person. The breeder of the dog or bitch must be a member in good standing of the DCA. The name & AKC registration number of each entry, as well as the owner s name & address, must have been conveyed to the Futurity Chairman at least one month prior to the date of the Futurity. SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AWARD THE TRIATHLETE CHALLENGE If you and your dog are a multi-tasking team, set your sights on the SPECIALTY TRIATHLETE CHALLENGE, a special award given to EACH Dalmatian/handler team that earns a qualifying leg or passing score in three or more performance venues during the National Specialty. The eligible events are Tracking (at the Official National Specialty Trial May 6th only), Road Trial (at the Official National Specialty Trial May 7th only, RD and RDX classes), Agility (at the Official National Specialty Agility Trial May 8th only, Standard and JWW classes), Obedience (at the Official National Specialty Trial May 10th only, regular and optional titling classes), Rally (classes at the Official National Specialty Rally Trial May 10th only). Only one score or performance in each venue will count towards this award, and the performance must be at the titling level, although the dog/handler team may already have earned the relevant title. If your dog can hock, heel, sniff, run, and jump, just pick your venues and go for the challenge! The award will be a DCA 2014 themed handcrafted picture frame and a Northwest handcrafted pewter keychain or substitue items of equal value. (These awards are offered by Nadine Morgan.) TOP TWENTY EVENT MONDAY, MAY 12TH AT 7:15. This is an event you won t want to miss! There is nothing like watching our top Conformation dogs showing their hearts out with their special handler in formal attire and hearing their favorite music. This is the favorite part of the show for the judges, audience, and dogs. The evening is a formal event so please plan to dress accordingly. There will be cash bars and light hors d oeuvres to keep your tummy happy. Tickets are $10 per person. Our fabulous catalog, a must have, is $15 for pick up or $21 if mailed.
