1 August 2017 Dear Residents, The Amenity Center is now open! We are so happy to have this beautiful resort-style center open for you all to use. If you have any questions about the facility, please ask your Lifestyle Manager or check out the Bellacina by Casey Key website where an Amenity Center Information Packet is located. This month the Lifestyle Team will be hosting several fun events and club outings including an Italian Night Potluck, Painting with a Twist Event, Meet and Greet with your new Lifestyle Specialists, Bellacina Gives Back, Adoptable Pet Socializing outing and more. As you review the upcoming events & activities, please note it is important to RSVP for events marked as a reservation required outing so proper accommodations can be made. We encourage your participation in our lifestyle events so that you have the opportunity to meet and mingle with your fellow neighbors and your Lifestyle Manager! 3 Meet Your Neighbors! Q. Are you originally from Florida? If not, where are you from? Vicki and Jean-Luc Aubert Q. Why did you choose Bellacina by Casey Key to call home? A. There were a few things that made it an easy decision. Jean-Luc decided he preferred Venice, but I preferred Sarasota. We had originally looked at Lakewood Ranch, but didn t want to be so far from the Gulf. When we heard about Bellacina s location we knew it was perfect for us and I was already a huge fan of Taylor Morrison s architectural style and the Esplanade Community concept. We ve owned an investment property on Siesta Key for 25 years, but we knew we didn t want to live there. We actually felt we were new to the area and we were looking for a social community where we could make friends we could grow old(er) with! A. Jean-Luc is from the south of France and I m from Vermont. We ve been married 35 years and during that time we ve lived overseas in 5 countries for a total of 28 years (France, England, Italy, Greece and India). Q. Which Lifestyle activities are you most interested in? A. I m sure Jean-Luc will split up his time between the gym and the pool. I m looking forward to yoga and possibly walking and cycling, and of course the social activities. We loved hosting Find the Flamingo last week! Q. What do you like to do in your spare time? (i.e. hobbies, volunteer activities, etc.) A. Jean-Luc is thriving in the workshop he s made out of our garage extension. We ve lived in a lot of cities and that was never a possibility, so it makes me really happy to see him enjoying himself so much. I m very involved with an orphanage in India near where we used to live. I did a lot of fundraising for them when we lived in Hyderabad, India and I m struggling to figure out something I can do from here. Q. Tell us about your family! (i.e. siblings, pets, etc.) A. Jean-Luc has two sisters in France and I have a brother in Vermont. We have two girls, Stephanie and Ashley, who live in Burlington, Vermont Stephanie s getting married over Labor Day weekend so that s obviously very exciting for us all. Pets? We re true animal lovers and find ourselves without a pet for the first time in 25 years. Our golden retriever died in 2008 and our rescued cat from Rome, Italy died in March. It s a difficult adjustment, but we decided to remain without a pet for the time being. I own a luxury boutique travel agency and this is a good time for us to get out and travel since Jean-Luc just retired last August. Q. What is your favorite part about living in Florida? A. The weather and the beautiful beaches. We also belong to Freedom Boat Club and get out on the water when we can. Q. Where is your favorite place to eat in the Sarasota/Venice area? A. Jean-Luc loves to get a big traditional breakfast at the Village Cafe on Siesta Key and he likes Flavors of India on Tamiami Trail too. We also enjoy the Italian restaurants in downtown Venice (all the ones we ve tried!). Actually, we really enjoy many of the ethnic restaurants run by recent immigrants in the strip malls around the area. Variety is the spice of life! Ladies Lunch Bunch When: Monday, August 7th at 12:00pm Where: Dockside Waterfront Grill 509 Tamiami Trl N, Venice, FL *at own expense* Gather together with your fellow neighbors for a ladies lunch! The Ladies Lunch Bunch will meet once a month to try out different restaurants around the community. Please RSVP by Sunday, August 6th so seating can be arranged. Meet & Greet Your Lifestyle Specialists When: Tuesday, August 8th at 6:00pm Where: Amenity Center Come by the Amenity Center and get to know your new Lifestyle Specialists, Jordyne and Cheryl! They will be assisting with Amenity Center management, events, fitness class registration, equipment management and more! Your Lifestyle Team will be providing snacks and beverages for the evening. Please let your Lifestyle Manager know if you would like to attend. Italian Night Potluck When: Tuesday, August 15th at 6:00pm Where: Amenity Center It s time to brush up on your cooking skills and prepare your favorite Italian dish to share with your neighbors! Your Lifestyle Team will be providing the plates, napkins, utensils and drinks. Please RSVP to your Lifestyle Manager with what food items you will be bringing by Friday, August 11th

5 Painting with a Twist When: Tuesday, August 22nd at 7:00pm Where: 5543 Palmer Crossing Cir, Sarasota *at own expense, $35 per seat* Join your neighbors for some painting fun! Sip your favorite beverage and enjoy step-by-step instruction with experienced and enthusiastic local artists. You ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation made by you. National Dog Day, Bellacina Gives Back Adoptable Pet Socializing When: Saturday, August 26th at 12:00pm Where: True and Faithful Pet Rescue Ranch, 3063 Kennedy Drive, Venice, FL To celebrate National Dog Day, come out to the True & Faithful Pet Rescue Ranch to spend some time with the adoptable dogs. These pups are in need of some love and care since being rescued. Dog food, treats, and play toys are also much needed at the rescue ranch if you would like to bring a donation. Wine Down Wednesday When: Wednesday, August 30th from 5:30pm-7:30pm Where: Amenity Center It s the end of the month! Let s Wine Down. Join your neighbors out on the lanai to enjoy a glass. Snacks and our favorite beverage will be provided by your Lifestyle team but feel free to bring your own beverage and/or snacks to share. Please RSVP to erickerson@popegolf.net

6 Pet of the Month Q: Which human(s) of Bellacina by Casey Key do you belong to? A: Finding and winning over the right humans was not easy. I grew mighty as I learned to defend myself through many trials. After many hurtful separations, I found Ray and Vivvy DeSilva. I love these guys and I am going to keep them. Q: What is your breed, age and birthday? A: I was born in August 2009, I am 8 years old but feel much younger. I am a miniature poodle with a splash of terrier. My human thinks it gives me the tough guy attitude. *Quinn* Q: What are some of your hobbies? A: I love games, people and treats, in no particular order. I fetch and catch enthusiastically while the treats are flowing. And I am in charge of protection and make a lot of ferocious noises when strangers ring our bell then I hug them and I kiss them and show them love. Q: Have you ever been in trouble for something you did? If so, what did you do? A: Yes, I have, hence the parting of ways with previous humans. I was considered untrainable until I fell for my new human, versed in the art of taming crazy dogs like me. He almost gave up on me after I ran away for the 3rd time. Now that is all history and we have an arrangement; life is good and treats are abundant as long as I follow the rules. I don't get in trouble no more. Q: What is your favorite thing to eat? A: Treats, but I am selective and favor the ones that my human gives me. I like meals, provided that he covers the Science Diet in other delicacies like chicken and steak. My master is skilled at giving me delicious, healthy meals, as long as I eat the stuff from the bag as well. I am not crazy about that stuff. Q: Is there anything else you would like us to know about you? A: Yes, I want to tell you about my amazing friend who lives next door. His name is Benji and we are going to be best buddies. He looks like me and plays like me and has more toys than me. I told him about this great opportunity to meet Emily and talk. My human told him that she is very sweet and throws amazing parties. Of course, now he wants to meet you too, so I sent his picture so you can see how cute he is. His human is Kathy. There are lots of us on the block; the newest are two hot golden retrievers who adopted new humans to our neighborhood, Michael and Victoria. They are such a fashion statement that everyone needs to meet them.

MANATEE COUNTY PET ADOPT-A-PALOOZA August 6th 11am-4pm Bradenton Area Convention Center The 2nd Annual Manatee County-wide Pet Adopt-A-Palooza will feature over 100 adoptable pets to choose from. Specialty retailers & pet vendors will offer pet related products and services plus "Ask A Vet" may be able to answer your questions. Food, drinks and lots of family fun. Feld Entertainment s Monster Mutt Truck will be at the event for photo opportunities. Peace River K9 Search and Rescue Association will be performing demonstrations throughout the day. Pet toy donations welcome. Admission & parking are free. Bradenton Area Convention Center, One Haben Boulevard, Palmetto. More info: MANASOTA GRILLED CHEESE FESTIVAL August 20th 11am-6pm Sutton Park Smile and say "cheese" for the Manasota Grilled Cheese Festival! From the best gourmet grilled cheese food and dessert trucks on Earth you'll get a chance to partake in such favorites as gourmet grilled cheese and dessert treats. Plus there's a live music line up that includes Jah Movement along with full liquor bars and arts and crafts. Free admission and parking. 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sutton park, 1050 Sixth St. W., Palmetto.
